START/STOP fuse keeps blowing MEGANE II 1.4 2003

Hello My sons megane 2 1.4 petrol 2003 plate keeps blowing a fuse everytime he presses the start button,

its the white 25 amp one in the under bonnet fusebox to the right of the battery.

The car had this problem when he bought it, the person he bought it off had been bump stating it to get it going( but it then developed running problems(see my other thread) which we have now fixed, I spotted that the fuse had popped the first day he got it home and replaced said fuse, the car started up first time and had been doing everytime for almost 2 weeks, then yesterday he went out and it popped again and replaced it with a 25 amp one, car started and he got home.

we replaced some parts to sort out a running problem today he started the car drove round the block and everything was good so he turned off engine, i then said restart it just to make sure....nothing exept a few clicks and high pitch constant beep from under bonnet/behind dash and engine manegment/service lights both stay on and also he gets the check injection message.

we check fuse box again same fuse popped, so we say oh well at least we know what it is and how to fix it now, so we pop another 25 amp fuse in and leave bonnet up and lid off fusebox while he pressed start button im watching fusebox at this time and i hear the clicks and beep and also see the fuse blow....we did this another 4 times each time checking wires , we removed the fuse tray thing and took all the plugs out i did notice that the brown plug was damaged and also once removed some of the pins had green powder on them and also some of the plug holes had the same green residue around them, so im sure there must have been some water ingress at some point in its lifetime but it looked dry now.

anyway after we had used all our supply of 25 amp fuses up we replaced the fusebox and reinserted the plugs and swapped out the newly blown 25 amp for a 30 amp fuse and tried to start it again....this time we still got all the same clicks and high pitch beep but no fuse pop or engine start!!! so what the hell could be suddenly stopping the car from starting now?...ive seen on other forums that it mat be solenoid circuit to started motor or some say take oue fusebox/ECU and open it up and make sure its bone dry in there(using hair dryer on medium heat)

any help would be great thanks as i want my life back lol

Also here are some pics and i found a where 2 have been spliced into 1 does anyone have an idea if this is right or not? you can also see the white fuse that keeps blowing(circled) just to the right under the black cover its not the first one you can see but the one next to it in pics 2 and 3, just in case people were wondering.

  1. Hi,
did you find the problem/cause? I've got a similar case here with Laguna 3 2.0 dci.
