STOP and BATTERY light on

Hey guys,



I was on my way home today when I noticed the 'STOP' and battery symbols were illuminated. I pulled over and the car was revving itself up and down constantly. Between 600 and 900rpm. I managed to get home but the car jerked the whole way.



Any ideas what it could be? No fault codes and everything looks normal under bonnet as far as I can tell. :crazy:

trafic 2013 clutch(s)

hi, I was just wondering to what your thoughts are to the experience I am having with my 2013 traffic auto I have owned from new with 24k miles which has just had its first service today which I have been informed the brake discs and pads are all 95% worn apparently so soon with it being an auto????? but the real problem is my van is going into main dealers next week for its 4th clutch yes 4th clutch can anybody give advice or thoughts as getting really frustrated as what to do. Renault uk was involved with the last updated clutch. thanks daz

Renault Kangoo 1.5dci 2005 - "what is it?"

Hi,



I have removed the black plastic cover from the engine as one of the rubber grommets was 'missing' and causing the plastic cover to move around.



This in turn caused the dip stick to rise out of it's tube.



Whilst I had this cover removed I noticed that there was a small light grey electrical connector with two wires - white and yellow that disappeared off into the wiring loom. The problem is that the two wires have almost completely sheared off.



My question is (or questions are!): -



What is this switch?

Can I replace it? and if so, how does it come apart?

White smoke and dead battery

Hi all im realy hoping someone can help. I was driving from town then all of a sudden loads of white smoke like fog came out the back followed by what sounded like a faint pop. then 2 second later loss of power. So I pulled over and tried to start nothing no lights or anything. Battery completely dead. It has been raining around here badly and I drove through a large puddle last night and I know the renault megane 1.9 dci ii don't like water. So if anyone can help I'd be great full.

handbrake problems

hi i have a 2001 renault megane scenic and when you pull off or brake there seems to be a rubbing sound. Though breaks are working perfectly fine. Also the handbreak comes up very high but doesnt hold properly.

Various electrical problems grand scenic petrol

Hi. All



we have just got a grand scenic 2.0 vvt 54plate and have discovered a few problems when getting home. As mentioned in welcome thread me and the wife are not very good at buying the right car. So here's what's wrong any advice/help greatly appreciated.



1. When steering turned fast even stationary there is a loud crack/clicking noise.



2. Electric mirrors don't work.



3. Window is wedged to stop it falling ( they did mention this one but said its come of its runner you can hear motor working).



4. Radio not working she said had new battery yesterday and just need the code inputting. (A didn't give me a code. B there is no display asking for the code, power button does nothing. The CD changer will not eject however the radio unit ejects CDs and accepts them. Bonus left frozen sound track in there!!!)



5. Because of new battery now comes up faulty park brake with a service and a P. It comes on/off manually and when drive off and switch engine off. (I have had a quick look on here only joined this morning to see a few threads but none that this fault has occurred due to new battery but will have a proper look this eve to see if been asked before).



6. Digital temp display not showing digits but ordered a new one off flea bay.



I have checked the fuses.

Renault kangoo 1.5 2002 problems

Hi all,

Got a problem with me Kangoo.



I have read tons of other problems on here but though someone might know a definate answer without spending a shed of money on it, although, a definate answer maybe hard by what i describe.



Since owning the van about 2 months it suffers from real bad blue smoke and throws the coil light on. I had it diagnosed and it came up with glow plug malfuntion and egr malfunction along with injector faults. I took the injectors out, stripped them and put them into an ultrasonic tester and put back in. I then done a leak off test again as 2 of the pots prior were filling up faster and since cleaning the injectors ( cleaning i mean strip the whole internals out) the leak off tests are similar.



Since the diagnostics I have replaced the 4 glow plugs and the egr was replaced prior to me getting the vehicle.



I have done an engine flush with all new filters put on and used the actual engine flush.



The light came back on after the garage wiped them off and it is throwing the egr and glow plugs back up along with a fault they cant read and advised me to tske it to a diesel place to be looked at. I am wanting to fix the problem myself with a bit of help/direction from you guys as i dont want to throw money at it when its value is not that much, other than the issues it runs really well.



Recently it takes a few more cranks to get it going with a puff of smoke, it seems to run ok until it heats up then the smoke comes and i mean really comes. It still pulls with no misfires or lack of hesitation. Inside the cabin when the engine is warm I can smell like exhaust sweet fumes.

2006 Renault Clio 1.2 Oil Dripping From Engine

Hello folks



new to this forum but looking for a bit of insight into what could possibly be wrong with my clio.



it's started dripping oil from the passenger side of the engine bay, haven't been able to pin point the leak. It drips when left sitting, resulting in fairly large oil patches left over a period of 3-4hours. My car recently had a new gearbox in december and a new driveshaft on the offside in january. I had the car serviced at the start of december and the oil is now absolutely manky again.



Also my engine makes a squealing noise when sitting idle. My mechanic friend changed the auxiliary belt thinking it could be the case but the squeal has returned, the squeal disappears when the car is in gear.



I have no mechanical experience and no access to a ramp etc.

A Friend / Neighbour has a 51 plate RX4 with a clicking steering rack, he's on a tight budget and I have been trying with little success to find a second hand replacement.



is there a rack from another more popular model that can be easily modified? e.g. by swopping the steering arms?

Hi all



Just come across this forum and thought I'd say hi me and my wife yesterday brought the above car. We are rubbish at buying cars never ask the right questions or check the right things. But we travelled 2.5 hrs with 4 kids it was raining and our grand Picasso came up faulty gearbox in the fast lane on way up there went too neutral, no gears pretty scary!! So we ended up getting it. It is clean and nice to drive back, but have discovered a few things wrong with it and was hoping to get some advise on here please.

DF Fault Codes Help Needed

Hi, I've been repairing my 02 Clio DCi 80.



I've just brought a can clip clone from ebay to read the ECU codes etc.



First read gave me a mega long list of faults so I erased them and then went for a short drive. Came home and re-read the codes. The only ones left that keep returning are:



DF022 - Air Temp Sensor Circuit

DF115 - Inlet Manifold Pressure Sensor Circuit

DF116 - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit

DF071 - Track 1 Pedal Sensor.





Long story short, when I got the car she'd barely start, run or had any power. Turns out the turbo was knackered so I replaced that for a new one along with new Camshaft and Crankshaft sensors.



Then when I'd done that lot, she had no power and chucked out black smoke like crazy so I looked at the EGR. Tried cleaning it but still the same. Tried disconnecting the ECU plug to the EGR and that made it worse. Sounded like it had spanners in the engine. So I rotated the EGR round but left the ECU plug connected and it was better but still smoked. This lead me to the MAF which I've disconnected and left disconnected and she runs nice with hardly any smoke.



So I know why I'm getting the Air Temp error code and I also know why I'm getting the Pedal Sensor error Code but I don't know why I'm seeing the other two - the MAP and Camshaft Sensor.



Certainly the MAP sensor could be knackered but not a new Camshaft Sensor?

Interestingly, when I dig deeper in the fault code reader side of CLIP, it says these errors are no longer present but are stored yet I've erased all the codes but these two still return when the engine has been run or is running.



Does anyone have any ideas why they're coming back or how to permanently erase them using Clip V1.45?

I know this has been covered over and over but I can't find a difinitive answer and it may even be related to the MAP error I'm getting -

With the EGR blanked off, should it be mapped out of the ECU altogether? Surely the engine or rather the ECU is expecting to see that warm exhaust gas being mixed in to the intake?



What makes me wonder is the car feels like it's peaked in 2nd gear at 3k RPM. It just doesn't feel right in that respect hence I purchased the clip to clear up all the faults to see if it would put straighten itself out with all the faults repaired and cleared.

The optical sensor provides a high resolution signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) by counting pulses on the sensor disk located in the injection pump. The high resolution is one of the most important inputs by the PCM for fuel control and timing. This test monitors the number of high resolution pulses which have been missed (not detected). It's based on a comparison between the number of pulses that were detected since the last pump cam pulse and the number of the pulses that should have occurred. There are approximately 64 high resolution pulses for every cam pulse.

Renaults forever

Many thanks for the advice re getting rear window back up when it goes and stays down all on its own - worked a treat! . . .current problem:



Renault Scenic 05 reg when you approach and it automatically unlocks door. or pull handle and it unlocks and locks when you push little button in handle has stopped working on 3 of the doors the rear passenger side one still works ok. still works ok on remote key push so not the end of the world.



Any ideas on how I can cure this?

RX4 Tips on headlight bulb alignment

If anyone has any particular pointers on aligning the headlight bulbs for an RX4, would be much appreciated.



There is a long metallic cylinder about a quarter of the way inside the headlight housing, trying to align the bulb inside without touching, and getting the bulb itself to sit in the right position (with the cumbersome wire frame cradle) to throw out the correct amount of aligned light is tricky.

clio 2 clutch

I have just purchased a 2001 1.4 clio off my brother in law, more so to do him a favour as he has abused it in the 16months he has owned it and even lost the log book. I the 2 months he has owned his new astra he has crashed if twice!



While he owned the clio on a couple of occasions the clutch pedal wouldnt return and stayed on the floor (like the cable had gone) he had called out the AA who said it was a pin that is common on them and it costs about £20 to fix.



Can anyone here shed some more light and point me in the right direction as he never had it fixed properly but the aa bloke has done something because its working at the moment.

hi ive got a problem with my acceleration and can anyone help when I start my motor the accelerator goes up high revvs and eventually left to tick over it goes down to 10000 revs but when you drive the revvs goes up and down, and the glow plug light comes on its so frustrating

Hello everyone, new to the forum.

Looking for some more info and advise .

About to buy a Megane rs 250 Monaco gp. I know they never been released in the uk but for some reason this one is here and seems genuine. V5 with the correct description on it . My only questions is about the specs of the car. Not the same that oz models.

Again checked with the Dvla and it's registered as the only Megane rs Monaco gp in the uk.

Digital dash problem scenic my III

Hi, when I turn my headlights on my dashboard light goes out completely. It always used to dim when I turned the lights on but the now I can barely see it at all even in daylight. Does anyone know why this is happening/suggest a solution? I have already tried adjusting the dimmer in the satnav menu

ABS CODE FAULT 31 Renault Megane Scenic

I have a Renault Megane Scenic 53 plate and am currently experiencing a host of problems. It has recently failed its MOT on numerous things but one problem i am having hard to fix is the Abs . The ABS light has been on for quite a bit , so i took it to the garage and he gave me the fault code 31. The mechanic had no idea what to do , he just told me to take it to Renault which i am trying to get an appointment for.



On the sheet he gave me it said code 31 injection ABS connector Can connector. Any ideas ?

Is it easy to fix? How much , or has the car seen its last day?

Hi all I've struggling with my Lag 2 won't start issue for a while now? I've changed the fuse box but there's a little black fuse spare I don't know where this has came from? trafic wont do anything

my trafic van cut out today and now wont do anything when i turn the key. No dash lights or anything come on. Anyone have any insight to this problem. Is this a fuse related problem

resetting espace iv electronic parking brake

Hi, looking info on how to reset an espace iv handbrake, I had to pull the yellow handle to free wheels, have the cable reset in beside the motor but still getting the fault 185 "parking brake unlocked by emergency handle-current" Any ideas?

Master 2.5 Dci wont start

Hi all,



I have a 2006 56 plate Master 2.5 dci.



It just wont start.



I've had the injectors checked no probs even swapped them with a good running vans.



I've changed the crank sensor (Delphi diagnostics crank speed is showing approx 250 ish when cranking and back to 0 when not cranking)



The van is getting fuel to the injectors and the bulb primer is hard) Fuel Rail pressure is about 250-290 and goes of when not cranking.



The engine did previously start ran sweet - took ages to start and since standing cant get it to start.



Only fault codes are dp209 something to do with egr valve positioning. Ive blanked of the egr and noticed a wire is broken in the plug. Would this cause it to not start?



Immobiliser light goes off too.



Its trying to start and a little bit of smoke coming out but just wont grrr. Help !!:devil::confused::crazy:: Mad:: Moonie:

Modus automatic transmission

Hello - new here and would be glad of advice. My 2006 Modus Dynamique 16V Auto, Petrol, 55K miles, has been a bit sluggish recently. By that I mean that it doesn't seem to be in the correct gear and accelerate in the same way as it used to. Especially when I set off in the morning and try to get up to speed on the faster road - I just have to wait for it to gradually gain speed and then cruise. Putting my foot down has little effect these days. I am concerned that this will get worse and I will have trouble accelerating fin various situations, which could be dangerous. There have been no warning lights showing, but my local garage says the computer has been showing several faults, which they don't understand. They just recommend getting rid of it. I am wondering if it is worth draining and changing the transmission fluid ( (Renaultmatic D3Syn or D2 are recommended in the handbook) or even just topping it up. Never been done to it I think. It may be a 'sealed for life' transmission, not sure what it is...maybe Jatco JF404E 4 speed compact or JF009ECVT. does anyone know how I can find out? But I believe 'sealed for life' can be topped up/changed anyway. I'm reluctant to spend too much on it because of its age - it also has a dent and a loose indicator cover which I have not dealt with. But it is a very practical with high seating position. Any comments greatly appreciated.

Megane MK3 - Bluetooth Issues

Hello,



Heres the story:



Couple of days ago my bluetooth was playing up, disconnecting then reconnecting every 10 mins or so.

Thought nothing of it at the time.



The day after, my radio stalk stopped working and the buttons on the front of the radio stopped working.



Later that day, turned the car on again, radio completely dead. Would not come on at all.



The next day, turned on the car, had a battery low warning. Obviously something was draining the battery.



Thought my battery was knackered, brought a new one.



Started playing up again.



Yesterday, connected up my phone to my bluetooth again, radio buttons stopped working again.



Had to disconnect the battery to reset it.







Any one know the issue?

Scenic sunroof interior panel

The sliding panel on the inside (bottom) of the rear electric sunroof of my V reg 1.6 Scenic has jammed half way across. Any ideas how I can easily fix this without too much trouble or paying someone to sort it out?

clio mk3 immobiliser problem

Hi to all



I have a problem with my

clio III - Dynamique s

1.4 Petrol

2006



Immobilizer light stays on and if I leave the ignition key on. The dash says low battery. But the battery is fully charged



So far I have changed the fusebox bsi ecu and ignition key coil but it still has the same problem.



Everything else works



I put key turn all lights on dash light up, I turn key once lights go out and nothing. The immobiliser light stays on and 2 minutes later says low battery



Really really confused and automotive electrician does not know what the problem is.

1.9dci help needed please

Hiya. :-) 15 months ago we had an issue with our 2006 Grand Scenic, came up with check emissions/check injector and went into limp mode. Took it to local garage who replaced EGR, MAF, Boost Sensor, problem went away and all was fine, a couple of weeks ago the car came up with check injector again, didn't go into limp mode, it lasted a week or so and went, same thing happened again immediately after refuelling, car back in limp mode, mechanic had a look, no error codes, air filter was cleaned and then glow plugs checked. After the air filter was cleaned the car then started stalking immediately after pressing start/stop, and only after 15-20 attempts, while having foot on gas it would start, glow plug checked, and replaced, starting issue still happening and dash now saying check emissions as well as check injector, could it be that the MAF sensor has been disturbed while doing the air filter clean? I initially thought it may be the DPF needing a clean after being in limp mode but that doesn't explain the starting issue (which only started happening after the air filter was looked at)



MOT due next week and want it sorted ASAP :-(

trafic 1.9dci now power at start up

Hi.i found that water was dripping on the filter housing and then seeping in and wetting the filter.the housing had water in to.when starting engine ok until you try to rev it.wat was happening it was sucking water in.i dryed out the housing and new filter and ok now.just need to find out why the rain water was dripping on the air filter housing.sealed it up with silicone as well.runs ok now.

DCi throttle body

I'm getting a DF645 'Air inlet flap position control' error. I've had a peep at it and cannot see the throttle flap move with the engine on or off - it is open at the moment and I can move it by hand. The troubleshooting manual suggest that it is broken and should be replace - this is one option (part number 8200330810). But I think it is more electrical related (I have recently had the motor out to replace gearbox and quite a few other electrical problems already, so one more electrical problem wouldn't be a surprise). I did clean the EGR valve while I had the engine out, so could have broke something in this process.



Is there a way to test the throttle body (by applying 12v to some of the pins)?



My laptop has run out of battery, but I shall try operating it with my Can Clip - apparently I need SC036 - I'm sure it will all be logical (in a nuts French kid of way). It is has been a bit of a battle with the Clip reader so far!



Car runs OK, throttle response seems slightly lumpy (but this could be paranoia) and it does run on ever so slightly when switching the motor off. Mpg is slightly down at 39 rather than 42 before I took the motor out. Power seems where it should be. The DPF light has just come on after I've been messing with the Clip this afternoon - could be related or not.



Also have an intermittent throttle pedal error DF165 Accelerator pedal position sensor circuit on Clip (DF508 motorised throttle valve control - when read on a friends Snap on reader) - but this cleared and remained cleared for a while, but has occurred 3 times over the last 2 months - not got round to looking at this and unsure if related or not.



Seems like I still have a few things to fix before the car is running right (at least I've got rid of the tyre monitor systems this afternoon)

Leak found. How do i fix it?

I know there's loads of posts about water leaks but I've found where the leak is coming from and I'm hoping someone has had the same problem and can tell me how i fix it.



So, the driver's footwell was damp and I've been looking for ages to see if I can find where the leak is. Today it ****ed it down, so I went straight out and had a feel about. Under the steering wheel above the pedals in the right hand corner I reached my hand into a sort of ledge. There was water in a pool there and behind it there felt like a fan.



Anyone know what this will be and how I fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated cause I can't afford to take it to a garage and it's starting to smell!!

abs warning light on.

hello,



I was driving my laguna concorde K56 the other day when the abs warning light came on. The inboard computer told me that there is no abs but the brakes will still function normally.



I have looked in the haynes manual to see if I can bleed the brakes as I had a new axle fitted a few months ago and the brakes are a very little bit spongy:



The book told me that it has to be done by a renault dealer as they have the diagnostic equipment. is this correct=



I also wanted to check the sensors to see if they are functioning correctly but I am unable to find out what the resistance should be.



Or does anybody have any ideas what it could be?

Can anyone tell me, or better still with photos, show me where the fuel pressure sensor is on my 1.5 dci? I've been told I have a problem with the fuel pump but would like to check this sensor first before shelling out on a new pump, cheers.

tuning box ,long term on 1.5 dci objective opinion

How to sum up quickly? :d

1.Cutting thru all the detail.

2.Used a tuning box from first week on a brand new 1.5dci

3.Performance with was a huge difference to without.



4.It was only ever off the car for about 2 weeks in total in 3 years.



5.In the interim I tried a remap,it didnt work so well.



6.The tuning box mapping,is hard to describe ,essentially it boosts the max fuel pressure from a normal max of 1650 bar on the meg 3 to about 1800 bar at max pressure demand,but below max pressure demand it may overfuel more than is strictly necessary..sort of :)



7. The fuel pump was replaced just before the initial guarantee ran out.Im not saying what the cause was definitively..but.



8.Since then,for over 6 months the car has been "as normal".

The performance to me seems to have been getting better n better :d



Whether this is because the diesel has at last fully run in (total mileage is under 30k still ) or what Im not sure.



The engine now burns no oil at all between services , before it was.



9.Im gonna put the box back on for a week at a lowish setting say 5 midrange ,see how it goes.

rx4 key stuck in ignition

hi guys,



can someone tell me what i need to do in terms of getting a stuck key out of my ignition barrel?



i have 2 rx4 dci 1 which is a non runner and the other which has a key stuck in the barrel. can i swap the column and barrel and whatever else so i can avoid snapping the key or paying for a locksmith to remove it.



to cut a long story short this was the mechanics fault and has suggested that he will remove the column and other bits from the non runner and replace everything with the one that has the stuck key but what i would like to know if he is going to come across any electrical problems ie key coding or non starting issues with immobiliser.

51 2.2 espace power loss

Hi all sorry for my first post to be a cry for help :) recently bought as above and it goes into limp mode after about 2 mins of full throttle and is jercky on partial throttle.. Eml (heartbeat) light comes on 25%power loss turn off/on back to power.... Regains 10% or so of power after a few mins in limp mode. Turbo no excessive play. dpf/cat removed (both) egr cleaned. Intake manifold removed cleaned and no cracks.maf good.new fuel/air filter and service inc cambelt solus fault code 01684 unrecognised code really stumped now :(.. Dpf was very black and sooty lots of crap in egr and manifold any ideas ??

Missing 4th Glow Plug on 2007 Diesel Grand Scenic

I'm doing my head trying to remove glowplugs on my 2007 Grand Scenic. They're so hard to get to and turn.



Besides that I don't see the 4th glow plug. I have read on other threads that it's hard to get to but where the heck is it?

Renault Espace 2.2DT Fuel problem

Hi all.



I hope someone here can help me out with a small problem.



I was driving along the other day and the cambelt snapped on my car.



Instead of listing to people who said don't worry it only smashes the rockers up and wont of damaged the valves. I went out a brought a complete engine.



With a lot of yelling swearing and blood sweat and tears I managed to get the engine in.



I have tried with my heart to get fuel up to the injectors. I have been told that the fuel pumps are actually programed to the car.



So I would need to either get it programed or take the old fuel pump off and change it over.



thing I can not see is that a V Reg car would even have a programed fuel pump with it being a rotary pump.



Or is Renault main dealer right that either I have to change the pump over or take it to them to have it programed.



could someone please give me some advice.

Dpf Problem

It started with Dpf warning light, Yellow spanner light, and check injection warning, combined with limp mode and max 3000 revs. All at once.



With in a couple of weeks the pipe blow off the dpf sensor.



I was advised to change the dpf filter. So I did:confused:.



The car was still exactly the same, with all the same symptoms. The Garage that fitted the Dpf could not get into the car with there computer.



The next garage came up with error codes, glow plug error, dpf sensor, cam case sensor. Replaced all these parts.:confused: Symptoms where the same.

Clio phase 2 1.2 16v 2001 - electrical gremlins

As the title says it's a Clio Mk2 Ph2. About 2 weeks ago it wouldn't start one day. When I turn the key the red immobiliser light will stay on solid. You can hear the relays from the engine bay clicking rapidly as-well as the fuel pump cutting in and out.



this is happening permanently



I've replaced the earths, and this fixed the relays from ticking for a couple of days and the immobiliser was stuck on flashing rapidly now its all ticking again, and the immobiliser light is solid, also replaced the relays, checked the fuel pump, replaced the battery,



i think there are 2 issues here, the immobiliser and something else, maybe they are connected i dont know, run out of ideas.



have checked all fuses, everything else in the car works fine, apart from the central locking via the key fob.



i have seen plenty of threads with these exact same symptoms but no one ever posts how they fixed them.



any help would be appreciated

Auto headlight fault

My scenic 06 has auto headlights.



They used to work and I have in the past turned them on and off using the 'auto' button on the end of the left stalk.



But now nothing.



I press it for 20/30 seconds but it doesn't activate.



I have had a few times recently where it flashed up auto headlight fault but a restart of the car seemed to fix it.



What should I look for? Could it just be a fuse?

Main beam flash fault or not?

I have a 2006 scenic.

Should the main beam flash when you pull the stalk a little way or does it only work when you pull all way to put on main beam?



Mine only works when I pull all the way so I have to click the main beam on then click it off again with a double pull when I want to flash someone.

How to change oil and filters in Scenic II

Hi, I've not been able to find another thread on this subject, but apologies if I'm repeating myself!



My partner insists he wants to carry out an oil and filter change himself - the car is desperate for a service! We have a '53 plate 2.0l petrol Scenic II. How easy is this to do yourself, are there any specific tools we would need and can you recommend where to get the filter?



If anyone has done this, we'd appreciate some guidance.

Renault Megane brake fail

Morning all, I have a 1900cc diesel Renault Megane 2004, whilst driving at above 30 miles per hour every thing seems fine, after a short journey and when slowing or trying to stop the pedal goes hard but the car does not stop, I have taken it to a garage who have replaced the master cylinder, servo, rear brakes but the problem continues, I have been told the pump for the servo is pulling a vacuum but has only been tested by putting a finger on the end or the pipe, any ideas what the problem may be? Driver's door not unlocking properly

Hi. Have a Lag III 1.5 Dynamique TomTom which I bought new in Oct 2010. Now all of a sudden I can lock the car by pressing the driver's door handle button once or twice or I can just walk away or press the button on the card once or twice and the car will lock as it should. When I return I hear the car unlock as I put my hand round the driver's door handle and every door unlocks except the driver's. I then have to press the unlock button on the card once or twice and that will unlock the driver's door. Just wondering, before I take it in and spend money, is there any sort of "reset procedure" that might sort this out?

Mk1 Trafic antiroll bar

I have one last obstical to climb to complet Snowballs 2015 MOT:



I need to find a part I dont know what its called or even what it looks like.



This part fits at the very end of the Antiroll bar, garage needs to remove a siezed up sleeve with heat first, but an over the phone expination would have it being a long bolt with 2 big washers, 3 or 4 rubber bushes plus the offending sleeve.

2005 renault trafic 1.9dci wont start

all the lights come on when ignition turned on but when you turn the key the ignition lights go out but the red light in between the stop and service flashes really fast and the engine will not start i have tried using the spare key but still have the same problem have checked the fuses and they are ok and both key pads lock and unlock the doors has anybody got a fix for this

How to remove 2007 Grand Scenic Mk2 Engine Cover?

Ok, this will sound really dumb but as my Scenic seems to be misfiring as the acceleration isn't smooth, I was thinking of checking things out (like glow plugs etc) and got stuck pretty much immediately with getting to the actual glow plugs.



I have the main cover off but I'm now faced with a smaller thinner plastic cover. I've removed the two top screws but it still seems trapped on the right hand side. Do I need to remove the large metallic tube somehow or am I missing something simple to get this cover off?

strong petrol smell inside car

Hello I recently bought a 1999 Renault scenic she was badly misfiring took it to the garage and they replaced the ignition coil pack and she runs great now but there is an extremely strong smell of petrol that got worse when I put more fuel in can't see any obvious leaks and petrol gauge is staying the same. Thought I add my pride, its a 1.9 dci current additions are 18" alloys, HID conversion, pioneer mech less head unit and full led interior lighting.

window regulator plastic clips

Hi friends, I have replaced my window regulator today and I found it pritty easy apart from the window securing clips that push over the sliders that hold the window up and help move it up and down. I bought 2 x clips from Renault and everytime I try and push them on they keep pinging off the sliders. Has anybody else had this problem? Any friends out there that can help me? It seems that the pressure off the glass is preventing me from pushing the window secure clips into place. I made a mistake by holding the window up with brown parcel tape and now that is left stuck all over my window and on some of my door panels, anybody know what I can use to lift the glue off that the tape has left on my door and window. It started off a good day and has turned into a nightmare of a job. Any help with either will be appreciated, thanks. I've been thinking does the regulator have to be postioned in a certian place so not to have too much pressure off the window preventing the securing clip to push on and stay on? Why is there so little interest in tuning the 1.9dci

Hi Guys,

having come back to the Renault world with a Grand Espace IV 1.9 dci I'm amazed at how little tuning there is done to these engines and how small the power gains are.



My last car was a 115hp Seat Alhambra with the 1.9 PD VW engine. With a bigger turbo, larger injectors and a remap these engines can safely hit 200hp but with a few more mods like forged rods and arp bolts 300hp is possible.



Even trying to find out basic info like what make and model turbo and what size nozzles the Renaults injectors have is proving problematic.



There is a mountain of info on the web on the PD engines but why isn't there the interest in making that kind of power out of the 1.9dci?

P.S. Espace coliovers cost 4 times what a set for the Alhambra would cost and there is no choice, only one manufacturer makes them.

Did all the scenics have drop links?

Occasional lack of power when pulling away

Hi

I have a Renault Scenic 3, 2013, 1.5dci. just over 9,000 miles. Every now and then, when I pull away, there is no power, even flooring the accelerator take me slowly up to about 40. However, if I stop and start off again, its fine and accelerates as normal. If this a known problem, maybe just needs a software update? Otherwise, the car runs really well and fuel consumption good at around 62mpg on motorway, so does seems like anything serious, just annoying!

renault clio headlight problems

i have a problem with my left front side of the car ... my side lights , dipped/driving lights wont come on only on that side of the car , iv tryed changing the bulbs and nothing changes , iv also tryed the fuses but none have blown , my main beam come on at this side but dosent at the right side where there rest of my lights work?



Also my 2 spotlights and the bottom wont oe on either and the light on the dash to tell me that they are on ( or should be ) wont come on ( the fog lights ) anyone able to help here? dont know what to do ! :confused:

White smoke

I have a 54 plate renault espace. The problem am having is when I pull away from traffic lights or from a queue where I have been sitting for a few minutes I get white smoke from the exhaust. The car is running well apart from this.

2005 Clio Low Power

Hi guys

My brothers 2005 1.2 16v clio (d4f 722) 89,000 miles.

The car is very noticeably down on power but sounds to be running sweet as a nut, and no misfires, its just absolutely gutless when you try to accelerate.

No engine management lights were thrown, but today I put it on the snap-on modus scan tool and got the code DF216-Throttle valve motor error.

I had previously noticed that with engine off,ignition on you could hear the throttle valve opening and closing with a loud click if I pressed the accelerator.

So I suppose my question is, has the throttle body had its day and is that what's causing the low power or is that just another unrelated problem!

Just to add I carried out a compression test yesterday and all cylinders had good compression.

Looking to buy Megane GT-Line

Hi all,



I'm thinking of getting myself a little upgrade from my polo and have come across a 2011 Megane GT-Line 1.4.

I like the way it looks, has a nice interior and the 130bhp output means it has a bit of grunt to it.



The only thing putting me off is the fact that it's a Renault. I owned an 04 Clio before and that started falling apart and getting electrical faults all the time. Have Renault improved since then?



Anyone have any experience with this model?

What are the common faults with this model?

What should I look out for when I go to view it?

Scenic III Wiper Motor Problem

Hi guys, first post on here I am hoping my last with a problem. It's just a rant really as I just want to blow off a bit of steam. It all started with flooding in the passenger side storage bucket under the floor. I went to a local garage suspecting a hole in the wheel arch. We had lots of flooding up here so I was suspecting water was getting in via a hole somewhere. Then my blower stopped working, then it started working again but intermittently. Then the main issue, the wipers suddenly started working independently of each other culminating in them both stopping. This was a safety issue as I couldn't drive the car. I took it to much local main dealer who charged me £90 to put it on the diagnostic machine then told me the scuttle drain was blocked and the water flooded into the area just below he windscreen submerging the wiper motor. They dried it and said all is well however, it may need replacing in the future. A week later whilst I was away it went again however, as I was in a local village at the time I went to a local garage. £464 later, my wipers were working. I am back now home and the problem has come back. I am now told that my car has TWO wiper motors, one for each blade which I find astonishing. To have now taken it back to the main dealer as I am back home and they will no doubt want more than the garage that fixed my problem earlier. This means I will have forked out over £1100 to repair my wipers. My old scenic had a cam belt failure and I needed to replace my whole engine and spent less than I am spending on fixing my wiper blades. This I feel is a bit much especially as I have since found out this is a common design fault with scenic's. So I am paying through the nose for a fault they have created. I'm seriously thinking of deserting to Ford next :mad:

Please help... My Megane III - 1.6Dci Dynamique Sports Tourer arrived with a ltr of Elf Solaris FE 5W-30



The local dealer used my bottle to top up at service and I can't find a replacement anywhere...



Is the Evolution 5W-30 OK or is something else mfr recommended?



Please can anyone tell me what is the correct one to use... I want to maintain the engine performance I have at the moment - 50mpg round town and 70mpg on a run.

Electric Folding Mirrors Upgrade on Megane III Phase 1

Hi everyone!



I would appreciate some guidance on swapping my manual folding wing mirrors with some electric folding mirrors on my Megane III Phase 1.



Along with the mirror units, I was hoping to use a OE switch in the dashboard (I have an empty switch blank next to the Traction Control Button, that I was hoping was the OE position for the folding mirror switch).



Has anyone attempted this, and have a parts list, preferable the Renault Part numbers, so I can go and price this upgrade up and source the parts?!

Megane III Phase 1 Running Lights...

Have seen these on ebay, and was wondering if anyone has bought and installed these on their Megane III Phase 1?!











They require someone with car electrical knowledge, especially splicing into the acc 1 line, so would appreciate some guidance on wiring these up or how much an Auto Electrics Shop would charge?!

Adding Aux USB Connection...

Hi everyone!



I currently have this in my 2010 megane







I want to change it to this







My current headunit is this







The rear connection block looks like this







I dont think my current rear connection block will allow for a direct connection for the AUX/USB, I can only imagine I need some sort of stepped loom to be able to hook up the AUX/USB.



Does anyone know what I need to be able to get this to work? Original Renault part number would be brilliant!



Also, I want to add a Vibe 4-channel amp (Nothing large, just enough to increase the quality of sound currently being produced) and a underseat Vibe Sub Woofer, however the rear of the headunit doesn't have the RED/WHITE connections for a sub.



Will the possible new loom have these on there, or am I looking at a completely different Renault headunit that will allow me to do this?!



Want to keep the car as OE as possible with minimal aftermarket items.

Scenic rear brake motor

Hi,

Have stripped down my scenic 1.6 rear brakes.

Fault was the slider mechanism which splits the cable to each calliper, not the actual motor which had rusted up. To take the unit off I stripped it to get it off obviously.



When I put motor unit and cable back together is there a suggested position for the screw rack in the motor unit or will it self adjust?

Doors won't open

HI, just got myself a 2005 modus 1.5dci. all seems ok but for the doors, as in when i unlock them with the fob only the drivers door opens from the outside, is this normal as seems very odd, or something wrong, they do open from the inside then well keep doing so if i try them from the out side again after that, any info please, Thanks from Tris.:confused:

Clio MOT failure side light / hazard light problem

Hi Guys looking for some urgent help to cure a problem which caused car to fail MOT today. The rear side lights work ok. But when the hazard lights / rear side lights are on together the rear side lights flicker, they dont go out completely, hence the car failed. Have tried replacing the side light bulbs but no difference the rear side lights still flicker. Have checked the the lights units and there doesnt appear to be any build up / corrison on the terminals, also the connections seems ok to. would this be an earth problem ? if so where else could I check for a cure.

Clio - power steering belt

Hello



Looking for advice please :rolleyes:



We need to remove the power steering belt on my Clio Mk II 1.2 8V 1999 D7F as it has perished - would it be safe to drive it for approx 5 to 10 miles with it removed as they need to match it to the new one? It's the hydraulic power steering system.



It looks like it should be a simple job, but ---- is it just a case of removing the tensioner and slipping the belt off the pulleys or is it likely to be more difficult?

Hi my magane 2003 1.9dci drivers window has stop working couple months later it starts working fine now it's stopes again checked fuses seem to be fine if I disconect the battery leave it for about an hour it works but soon as I do it back up it stops working any ideas please

Hi, my 2006 Renault megane has been sat on the drive for a while, batt is dead. We went to jump start it today and then somehow the key fob got locked in the car, in the ignition :-/ this has never happened before, the doors just locked for no reason? The electrics in the car have gone anyway ( windows and boot) how can we get in the car to get the key out? We've tried going in through the top of the window with a hanger and hooking the handle but couldn't get the angle right. Please help.

intermittant power loss 3.0dci grandespace 2004

im the owner of a 2004 3.0dci grand espace initiale, on the the whole it has been a real trooper, never suffered from the usual gripes you hear or read about,however, in the last month it has suffered from a strange loss of power under load very akin to a "miss" accompanied by black smoke,but can run fantastic the very next day,am at a loss as to the cause, it is with a very competent garage at the moment who are also stumped, I will list the action that has been taken



.engine ECU removed & tested,no fault found

.turbo & all hoses checked

.full service inc gearbox oil changed

.full diagnostic check undertaken,no fault codes held

.no warning lights have been triggered on dash

. EGR valve removed & blocked off.



any pointers will be appreciated

Scenic 1 Ignition failed at speed

Hi.

My 00 Scenic RXE 1.4 petrol was travelling normally at about 60mph and then cut out completely, as if the key had been turned off.



Battery is good- engine turns over but will not fire.

Timing belt has only done 24000 but is working & turning cams.

Fuel is coming through ok, but there is no spark to any plug.

Car was driving completely normally when it happened and had started first time, running smoothly and accelerating fine.

New cat and lambda had been fitted 2 days before, but I can't see how that would affect the ignition in this way.



Any ideas?

Scenic loosing power

I have a Scenic 2. I did engine overhaul. Not cylinder head overhaul. But it keeps on loosing power when I accelerate hard. Tensioner for the accessory Belt seized up, so I also changed it thinking maybe the flow was hard but still doing the same thing. Please someone help

Check Emissions

Hey guys, Hopefully somebody can help me here.



So basically i was driving to work yesterday when all of a sudden my car started to feel strange, Sluggish & felt like it lost power, Looked and the dash and i have a message "Check Emissions", The orange service light it on but its not due for a service for another 6.5k miles, Also the engine management light is flashing.



Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this?

Renault Clio parcel shelf speakers fitting and info

I'm an owner of a Renault Clio 1.2 Dynamique 04 plate, a relative of mine has recently sold his clio and gave me his speakers which are to be fitted onto the parcel shelf on my car.

the speakers are Fusion Encounter EN-FR693 6X9" 3 way speaker 260W



The information I am seeking is

would I benefit from a subwoofer/amp?



how would I fit them?

I've seen some people say to use the wires from the speakers next to the back seats, other people say to get a new wire for them

I do have a Pioneer radio fitted if it helps

Hi I have just joined to see if someone can help!! I own a 2001 espace 2.2 DCI the race which I have started having trouble with and am stuck as to what the issue is! I have no power to the lift pump and the glow plug light on the dash is not coming on therefore the car will not start I've tried so many different things just seems like Im hitting a brick wall every time!! Can anyone shed any light plzzzz

Trafic 1.9 starting problem

Past 2 mornings it has struggled to start, first morning it started but wouldn't rev when accelerator was pressed, turned it off, finally started and was ok all day, this morning just wouldn't go, bit easy start and it fired to life.



Im thinking injector problem, fuel pump was replaced last year along with 4 used injectors.



anybody any advice?, at the point where I don't want to spend any more money on it.

Fault finding

Changed battery positive fuse on a mark 3 clio after a spark had occurred and shorted the fuse. Then when I Had the car started a few lights came on the dash, stop light, service light and abs light.



These codes came up on code reader:



DF152 mutiplex network and DF001 computer supply voltage.



These codes won't clear so was wondering what possible things I should check

Laguna II ph2 -battery size

Just need some advice. Can anyone tell me what type if battery I need for my Laguna II ph2 Initiale 2.0t auto.



I check online, enter my reg details and get lists of batteries available.

A friend of mine kindly got me a battery via eurocarparts, he gave them vehicle reg and delivered a battery. However its much smaller than the Renault Boutique battery on the car, unfortunately I can't release the battery to get its details off the front.



Can anyone give me an idea of size and type I should go for.

trafic injection sensor fault

hi all

renault diagnostic canclip is showing i have a faulty proportional fuel sensor on my 07 2.5dci trafic....have erased it several times in the nr past but its permanently there now....drives ok but is a little down on power to what it was...does anyone know what and where this is?...cheers terry

Solved: Espace IV 1.9dci Flat spot at 1.6k revs.

When entering my estate, right hand 1st gear turn then straight up a steep hill in second, my Espace would get to 1.6k revs then hit a wall. It would loose power then surge, loose power and so on and so on until it gets to the top of the hill then it would pick up and once over 2k revs she's fine.



So I took a chance on a second hand MAF sensor for €20 from my local breaker, small money so worth a try, fitted it and tried the hill. Perfect! Problem solved!

A riddle wrapped in a mystery

My apologies for paraphrasing Churchill's famous quote. But after spending three days trying to sort out an electric malfunction in my Nissan Kubistar 2005 DCI 1.7 68 KW (as I understand is identical to the same Kangoo), we - a mate and I - are at our wits end.



The problem is the pre heat glow light which is constantly turned on after starting. We have tried everything we can think of to solve this problem but without any result. We dont have the wiring diagram and its hard to figure out where the fault lies.



So far this has been tried:



First we changed earth cable between engine and car body, which was rusty.



We put in a new battery which is fine.



Then we checked all the glow plugs, each has 1.2 ohm resistance.



We replaced the glow relay



We checked all the relays and fuses.



And checked the voltage to the glow plug relay main supply terminal.



There is a voltage drop between engine and car body ground side.



We also found a voltage drop between the engine and battery negative terminal.



But still the bloody glow heater is on when I turn the key and start the engine. And continues to be on.



What is the cause for this, we wonder? The number one theory is that the ECU is kaput and that it must be replaced. Or could it be that there is another undetected faulty earth cable we have missed?



After three days of uphill struggle, we are close to mutiny. My mate wants to run back to his wife, that bad is the situation, even when tempted with fine ale! : The



Any sane suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

1.9 DCI Turbo fail?

Got a 2004 scenic 1.9dci I heard what sounded like a boost leak this morning and check injection came on. I fear it might be the turbo. I checked for play and there is some but not a lot. I am not losing any oil and only smoke out of the exhaust is a bit of black on heavy throttle. The only thing i've done recently is clean the egr valve off the engine. Has anyone else had a turbo blow on them and what does it look/sound like?

Renault Paint Warrently??

I have 2 bits of paint missing from my car bonnet. my car is a 64 plate had this just over a month now. I took my car to Renault and they say nothing they can do because a stone has done this.



To be fair to them they have said they would touch it up but that's all they can do.



Surely if the paint it protected stones should be able to take full chunk of paint of my bonnet???

2005 Renault Scenic II 2.0 VVT - Crank Sensor??

Hi all,



Bought a nice cheap Scenic at the weekend for a general runaround. Took it for a good test drive, all worked 100% ok. Good condition that was kept up to condition. Did the deal and drove home (~35 miles) along the motorway.



All was going perfectly fine on the journey - all temps good, no warning lights, smooth running. Suddenly I had complete power loss from the engine - no EML, no warnings, just dead. Got it over to the hard shoulder while coasting. As I came to a stop, it was as if the the engine was turned off (interior lights came on, etc). Tried restarting it (just ran), but when trying to pull off it stalled. Then wouldn't restart at all - turned over but wouldn't catch. :(



So called recovery.



Half hour later after googling a bit and while waiting, I gave it a quick go to see if it started. It started perfectly fine. I pulled it over a bit just to keep it away from the edge of the hard shoulder, which it did fine. Was tempted to give it a drive back, but as only half way back, I didn't want to cancel recovery and have to recall it. Anyhow the recovery truck then arrived a short while later. It again started fine and got on the truck no problem.



Recovered home. Restarted fine, I took it around for a 10min journey, all good.



Ran a quick code scan, only code that came up was a "P0313 - Misfire Detected With Low Fuel". I didn't scan it before buying (forgot my reader) so could have been there for a while. No other codes apart from that with my generic OBD cable.



I'm guessing that this sounds like a typical case of TDC/Crank Sensor failure??



Next question, the sensor looks very different on the 2.0 vs the 1.6 (that I know commonly fails). However GSF car parts and the Facet parts catalogue can't decide which one should be the correct one. Both look like they may fit, but the connectors are different.

(says camshaft sensor, but the 2.0 doesn't have one and it comes under the category of crankshaft sensor on their website)
