I have a 1999 clio 1600 auto with a problem in the gearbox. Probably not too uncommon!
If drive is selected, the light on the dash flashes and the car only goes in 3rd or 4th gears. This means it pulls away in 3rd which is dangerous.
If second is selected, it pulls away perfectly well in first every time and changes up and down between first and second automatically. We are using it this way and just changing down to second when we stop and back into drive once the car gets going but as all of the gearbox side of things works ok, I am hoping that there might be a control unit or a sensor or relay or something which can be replaced as I really would not want to pay out for a new gearbox on such an old car.
Does anyone know anything about these cars and their auto box control?
