2001 2.8 dti floor based 5 spd gear stick gear cables to dash mounted 5 lever.. OK?

Hi all,
About to lift out box and engine on my donor 2001 2.8 dti Movano tomorrow. Gearbox and engine are really really good, body is falling to pieces literally, they're going into my 2004 2.5 dci 100 that had a 2.8 dti lump & gbox fitted before my purchase and has since dropped a valve hence big swap over, I bought with dodgy 1st gear on gearbox and a sloppy all over shop dash gearstick but now bit worried about cable compatability as I'm sure mine has lift reverse on gear knob and donor just slots lovely in off floor gearstick.
Came to undoing the gear cables which I've neve come across before only ever worked on my saab and am a little stumped for removal, what's that little metal folded pin thing going through, is that tapped out? I only quickly looked at as started raining badly so didn't have chance to work out removal and now pecking my head and can't find out.
Thinking I'll remove from gearstick side and take with on engine removal, good idea?

"PARKING BRAKE FAULT" Error Code OBD2 Reset Renault Laguna 1.5Dci Mk3 2011

Can anyone help with this problem, it is a Renault laguna Mk3 1.5dci 2011 and the dash says "Parking Break Fault" message codes , also the electronic handbreak red light Flashes... how do i correct and get rid of this message ? what is the best OBD2 tool to reset it ... any help i would be greatful..thanks

I have Driven the Car and it works fine, Breaking is Sharp too..no problems, i even drove and parked on a Hill and the car does NOT Roll at all when the Electronic Breaks are applied.***65279;


If there is nothing Wrong with the Parking Breaks then could i use an OBD2 scanner to reset it ? If so Which is the Best one at Low Price ?

Oil yellow and burning rubber smell from bonnet?

hi, I have a 2010 Renault Clio imusic 1.2 petrol, recently I've noticed a really bad burning rubber smell under the bonnet after I drive the car even if it's only a 5 minute journey, also when I open the oil cap it's filled with a thick yellow paste inside, there is only 68000 miles on the car and it was filled with oil about a month ago. any ideas what could be wrong?

Electronic Handbrake Help needed Pleassse

I am at my wits end - Please could someone offer me any advice ?
So I have taken the handbrake motor off the car and had it repaired and fixed - both cables have been replaced and it was all looking lovely and new. I've bolted the box down and connected the cables to the callipers - replace the rear pads and given everything a good clean up. But the problem is that the handbrake still doesn't work. there seems to be no communication from the switch to the box. The lights are still flashing on the switch so I am assuming the fuse hasn't gone. Ive tried the reset procedure detailed in this thread but nothing seems to work. Please help. Happy to pass on any knowledge Ive gained getting this far. Thanks everyone

Hey guys, twice in two days my civic has started up fine but then lost revs to the point where it stalls, I was wondering if it could be as simple as changing the spark plugs and fuel filter, any advise is appreciated thanks

Problem opening passenger door with key card **Fixed**

I have recently purchased a 2011 Renault Laguna Coupe Monaco GP. all is well but the electronic card that should open the doors doesn't always open the passenger door. I need to reach across the car and pull the internal door handle. Does the door need a new lock / solenoid or are the key card batteries low, of something else?

I think it may be time to say goodbye to motoring

Kangoo and ABS/SERV light

Hi I have a Kangoo (Expression) 06, automatic.

*Already posted at end of very old thread on similar topic but its in 'Wheels/tyres' so not sure it will get picked up so I'm reposting here in 'Brakes'. Hope that's OK*

Started with grating graunchy noise when I braked at low speeds. More recently, if I go onto 'A' road and go beyond 45mph and brake the ABS and SERV light comes on. Goes off again once I've switched off engine, parked up for a little while and then set off again.

Garage says I need new drive shafts -- one side will be about £170 and other side would be £380: or if both done at once, £550. Says they'll have to take the car in and examine before they know what needs replacing.

I know next to nothing about cars but reading the old thread in Wheels and Tyres I'm not sure the garage's diagnosis is correct. Could it be sensors and something cheaper. I'm loathed to spend that amount of money quoted above on a car I was hoping to sell in about 2/3 months time.

Wonder if anyone has any advice, please

Clutch has no resistance on Laguna 2 estate

I own a Laguna 1.9 DCI estate 2004 and diesel which has no resistance when the clutch is depressed and it does not come back up once depressed . Any ideas what the problem might be ?

2004 Grand Scenic 1.6 - Torque Screenshot, does it look ok?

My car occasionally goes into limp mode(every time I enter my work car park, I assume the bump on the way in disturbing the wiring, a quick restart fixes it). So I attached the ODB reader and took a screenshot when driving because I could smell fuel, this was driving at taround 25mph. I have attached the screenshot.


I wasnt sure which dials were needed so added a few but is the O2 sensors looking correct? The first flatlines at idle, the other is always flatlined.

multiple part numbers

I,m looking for used but good front section of subframe to fit modus/cleo, on "partsouq" they are showing 2 part numbers being 8200500488 and 8200766984 for item 2 on attached, can I fit either part and if answer is no then how can I find correct one?
Also how does it attach to rear section (item 1) all I can see is 2 pegs, is it just sat in rubber bush meaning it will just pull out.

Poor after sales support

I have a new (March 2018) Kangoo van complete with built in R-Link. Although this system is very expensive as an optional extra, updates for it are almost non-existent. I have never had any update notifications, so my SD card has never been in my computer to receive TomTom's Mapshare updates and speed camera updates. Putting the SD card into the computer simply reports that it is up to date.


The latest available maps from Renault are version 1000, released in April 2018, several months AFTER TomTom released that version for standalone satnavs. TomTom released the next version, v1005, on 27th February 2018 and the next version, v1010, on 12th June 2018 (then a minor update, v1011, to show new French speed limits, on 29th June).


So I'm on a map which is out of date by at least two versions. And it cost me a fortune to buy, compared to map update service which TomTom offer to standalone owners at less than half that price for four updates! In addition to roads being out of date (you've seen the TomTom map sales hype about updating because roads change by 15% a year), I'm also being warned of cameras which haven't been there for a year or more - TomTom cameras are notoriously out of date even when they are "up to date", so on my six month old map, they are ridiculous. Yet I have a Services subscription for which Renault are doing nothing to provide timely updates. GRRRR!!!

Espace 2007 Tailgate intermittant

Hi all, I found a lot of tailgate/rear door lock issues on the search function but none really describing my problem, here it is;

I bought this Grande Espace 2.0Dci 2007 few months ago, lovely car, my second Espace and working like a champ. Since a few weeks the tailgate seems to refuse operation now and than, lately more not working any more. I replaced the lock assembly by a second hand one but here's the thing. Sometimes it pops open when I start the car. Sometimes it pops open when I unlock the car. Sometimes it works when pressing the open button on the rear but mostly not. So the lock seems fine, the old lock had exactly the same, just the controlling but seems to fail. Might be a wiring issue but before I go and remove everything and check wiring, does anyone know if there is also a computer in between which might mess things up and needs a reset or replacement?

Accidental Kangoo owner

So there I was, slightly inebriated at a family wedding last weekend, and I happened to mention to my sister that my Fiesta was being scrapped and I was looking for a replacement vehicle, and I wouldn't mind a van...

Fast forward 3 days and we're off to Bassingbourne, she and her husband had just upgraded to a VW T4, and their bombproof Kangoo was sat gathering spiders and leaves, it was mine if I wanted it (for a bargain price).

So I got it home, made a list of jobs that needed doing:
Speedo was u/s
switch in drivers door for passenger window only worked one way
NS headlight half full of water
Seats need a proper de-gunge
Radio temperamental, only one speaker working...

Trouble is, as quick as I work through the list, new items get added to the bottom!! The biggest of which is the requirement for a second row of seats, I happen to have some, but I'm expecting fitting them to become bigger than Ben Hur!!

Anyway, enough from me for now, here she is, already named Bumble Bee by the wife, can you guess why??

Can I use A3/B4 rated oil in a modern petrol car which is rated for A3/B3 oil? (Both 5W40).

Have bought OEM Renault alloys to replace the steel wheels. Tyres are all same size. Local garage says I must get the OEM wheel bolts with washers. Do I really? Where can I get them online if so? Thanks.

Grand Scenic III 1.5dCi high diesel comsumption

I have a Grand Scenic 1.5dCi model 2011 with automatic transmission and about 250 thousand kilometers driven. I've had the car for about three months and I've been wondering if the fuel consumption is too high.

Average consumption for our mixed driving climbs up to 8.5 liters per 100 km. I've tried resetting the readings before longer trips on the highways and I can't get under 6.7 l/100 km when driving about 100 kilometers per hour.

Are these ok numbers or is something wrong? EGR? FAP?

I found many, many differnt kind of solutions that comes from P1453 code, and every model have it’s won diffinision.

This is absolutely ridiculous right? Ok make riding a bike more safe, I'm fine with that, but how are drivers suppose to gage 1.5m from the bike when your driving and suppose to be paying attention to the road? Also, what about back roads, they are narrow, you literally can't leave that gap between you and the bike so what do you do? Do you sit behind the bike and get beeped out, swore at etc or do you over take praying to God that the cyclist doesn't have a camera attached, let alone a police man/vehicle around the bend.

The £100 fine we could live with but 3 points on your license too. REALLY??!!

Espace 2007 rear mirror conversion to auto dim?

Hi, I tried searching for more info here but couldn't find any results, hope someone can help me here.

My 2007 2.0Dci Espace has a standard rear view mirror. I had been told they are pretty easy to replace by an auto dimmer version. Sometimes there is apparently already a plug behind the central cover, if not you would only need a 12V source to power it, maybe taken from the upper reading lights. I did open up the cover and found a connector, although I don't think its an original one. I will mease if there's 12V anywhere.

Secondly I ordered one from a secondhad store in Netherlands, Marusia parts. Now.....the connector has 4 wires...
Before I "trial and error" and blow-up the electrics of this mirror, anyone have a clue where to connect the 12V to??? See pictures below for the situation.

I'm hearing rumours of a HUGE number of engines being replaced.....

My Megane 3 has already had an engine and turbo under warranty for it.

I wonder if they'll admit to it.... I've emailed customer services for some assurance that my new engine will be ok.

Hi I have a 1.5 dci 2016 clio when I bought it I looked up all the reviews and it said it gets between 60 - 80 mpg but mine seems to be drinking the fuel my 2.2 civic used less fuel any ideas please

Corroded multiplug under passenger seat

Hi. I bought a 57 plate Renault Grand Scenic (Has Megane showing on both rear passenger doors). It is a 1.9 diesel automatic, 7 seater quite high mileage
Neither rear electric window works.
I have had it since April and in the last month or so the electronic handbrake Switch has stopped working, it only releases when I drive off and sets when I switch off the engine. Obviously it won***8217;t pass the next MOT!
I***8217;ve tried a replacement switch it made no difference.
I have been told that it could be a bad connection under the passenger seat, so I lifted the passenger seat out today, the grey multi connector plug had obviously corroded and someone has hacked it off, badly!
I***8217;m amazed that so many wires appear to be the same colour etc, but I really need to reconnect these back together. Is there a colour wiring diagram for that multi plug that I can download or can anyone help me please. I***8217;ve got until end of the year.

The reader has to have a blue connector as i am told the brown wont work. Any pointers?

Master 2.2 dci engine fades then stops

Had an ongoing problem with van non starting over a period of 18 months since we've had it.We've had 2 new injectors one in 2016 and another recently, it's had 2 crankshaft sensors in the last 2 years. 2 new EGRs in the last 2 years. Glow plug relay. New can sensor. We thought we had sorted the problem but last week it stated fine then after running for 15 mins engine just cut out! So on the right hand passenger side there is what looks like a sensor right at the bottom of the engine that looks like an oxygen sensor but not on the exhaust pipe. Two wires are connected to It and the AA guy said this is the problem. Any ideas as to what this unit is so we can replace it ?

Wheel Nuts

A guy is driving when one of his wheels comes off!
He manages to pull over safely and recovers the tire.
When he does he notices that he does not have any spare lug nuts to re-secure the tire the car.
He spends a good long while pacing around the car and cursing. He notices that he is being watched by a man in blue scrubs and white slippers and robe behind a tall fence.
Finally the guy in the robe asks the driver, "Do you want to know what I think?"
The driver responds , "No, you ucking moron, I don't want to know what you think! Can't you see that I'm stuck here and the nearest gas station is miles away!"
The guy in the robe suggests that the driver take a nut from each remaining tire to secure the rogue one. That way, each tire has three and he can make it to the gas station.
The driver looks up and sees that he broke down in front of the insane asylum and he realizes the guy in the robe must be a patient...the driver asks, "Hey, you seem like a pretty bright guy. What are you doing in there?"
The guy in the robe responds, "I'm crazy, not ucking stupid."

Renault Master II (2007) - Need engine room fuse box and relay diagram?

Hello,

I have a 2007 Renault master (2.5 DCI with 120 bhp I believe it is).

Now recently the main lights stopped working, both at once.

I replaced the bulbs although they looked OK; no change.
I checked the fuses under the steering wheel, none look like they have blown. (I replaced one just to be sure, no change.)
The horn works and all the indicators for changing lights etc seem to work (the dashboard indicates full and half lights etc as expected).

Anyway - I want to try and replace the relay and any headlight related fuses (other than the obvious fuses under steering wheel that are covered by the nice diagram next to the fuse box).

My problem is I can't seem to find any diagrams, pictures or even written information on what the fuses and relays in the engine room fuse box are for, or if indeed the headlight relay(s) are placed somehwere completely different that I have not even found yet.

I have now spent close to 10 hours looking for information to no avail. Hence my post here.

Could someone please help me out, any information on the engine room fusebox diagram, or where to find light related relays would be greatly appreciated!

Clio Dashboard Melting

Clio Dashboard Melting

Help I need someone to look at this problem for me. My 2016 (December) Clio has been showing a kind of melting in the pattern on the dashpad. It usually has a diamond pattern, but very early on, before the first service, I noticed a little area that had blended in pattern. I reported it to the dealer and nothing done. It spread, both sides of the dash and now in the middle. It starts that the pattern blends together, then raises up, then bubbles then blisters. I took it to an independent expert and he pointed out that the entire dashboard is warping. Renault has said it is not a warranty issue. I have a 5 year unlimited warranty. They have said it is pressure on the dash. I am a 59 year old woman with a heart condition, so I am not Thor! It is literally spreading before my eyes. Renault will not even have an expert look at it. I have taken it to 8 independent experts and all have said it looks like a type of vinyl cancer or a problem with the adhesive under the top coat. I really want my little Clio fixed but Renault have just pushed me aside. Help, am I imagining this? We don't use anything on the dash. I have used a dry microfibre cloth to keep the dust off. Don't have air fresheners or anything on the dash. Please can your experts here let me know what you think?

Trafic clutch problem

Hi all the clutch pedal on my 08 2.0 trafic dropped to the floor. I noticed a puddle at the front end and looked underneath finding a pipe hanging loose with like an L shaped plastic end on. It fits into the back of the gearbox but I assume the system now needs bled. Any ideas please what has caused the pipe to come out as it seems a tight fit now its back in place. Also any tips on bleeding the system please. Cheers

Check Injection Message

Hi i have a Renault megan***8217;s ***8220;05***8221; reg mk2 1.5 dci 86 bhp, just recently the check injection warning message has came on, it is starts quite bad only/mainly on the 1st initial start up from cold, (8-10 hours or so since last start/run) then starts & runs ok once above 1200-1500 rpm,it is idling & running a little heavy below 1200 rpm & on tick over, but once revived & or driven above 1200 or so rpm it runs & sounds fine, any thought or ideas woulbe welcomed & appreciated.

New to here please help me

I have a Renault Clio 14 plate. A month ago my car went in as the seatbelt sensor was going off a lot even when no one was in the seat, nothing on the seat and even when the belt was plugged in. I got a new part but since my cars been back in twice. The noise is still going off usually when I go around a corner/roundabout over a speed bump that sets it off and can go 20 minutes straight! However, garage is telling me there is nothing wrong with the car. It is driving me crazy!! Renault have been so helpful and even kindly contributed to the cost as my car was a month out of warranty. They are now covering this part fully under warranty but garage is persistent that there is nothing wrong with the car. Past two times I have had the car back a few days before starting again. I Have even shown a video of this happening to the technian. I just do not know what to do and desperate to just have my car back fully working again. Thank you in advance

megane alternator noise

have a 2005 1.5 dci megane, there is a high pitched noise coming from the alternator that gets louder as revs increase, put the screw driver to my ear then the alternator, i think it might be the alternator clutch. can these be bought, easy enough job? or best changing alternator

Additional 12v socket

Has anyone added another socket in their kangoo before? I have a blank panel I can mount one on and want to splice it into the existing sockets wiring. Just unsure on +/- and earth orientation as the wiring colours seem to change throughout all the components. TIA.

Fluence 2014 Tdi - engine Failure HAZARD every Drive randomally for the past 3 years

so i got the fluence from my uncle cus he got new car

the Engline FAILURE HAZARD comes so much times like every drive out side the city on my way to work - and sometimes i already know when it gonna appear-example when i on 100kmh and leave the gas after 15 seconds it appeard and its feels like the turbo sut down and everytime the gear change it get bumpy

he told me he ived with that 3 years dont ask me why he didnt do something about it eh told me he tried to go the mechanics but thay didnt know what the problem

maybe someone here know something to do or what could be the problem its very anoying

One of the 4 metal brackets (the ones that slide) that hold the sunroof has rusted.
However, I cannot find this part for sale anywhere.
I see sunroof repair kits for the Renault Megane and Scenic which have similar metal brackets and clips, but they look a wee bit different. The one on the Espace (which I removed) is a slightly different design/shape with a fixed white plastic bit at one end and a rubber clip in the middle.
Does anyone know where I could find one?
And could the ones for the Megane/Scenic work (but I doubt it).
has anyone else had this problem?
Very grateful for any help as I have run up against a brick wall.

Trafic Sat nav wiring

I'm about to buy a Renault traffic 2016 business+

and ive also bought the sat nav unit from a 2016 traffic with the codes but not additional connectors (looms?)

does anyone out there know what wiring looms I need to get the sat nav working.

Ive looked everywhere on the interweb and just cant find the answer

or I'm not asking the right questions

Buying a 1.9 DCi car - advice about oil leak

Hi folks,

I've found a 2011 Megane III 1.9 DCi that I've agreed to buy. It seems a nice car and is a reasonable price, but there's an oil leak from the pipe on the top of the engine. I've attached a photo I took.

Can anyone tell me what it is and whether it's something I should be worried about.

Virgin Media Networking

Just a ramble really but advice, suggestions or whatever welcome.

We have recently changed it all around with VM to cancel Son's account in his top floor flat and run the whole house off one account.
Halved our total monthly bills, got extra boxes and content so generally happy.
However, now only one incoming router, a Superhub 3 with 350 mbps incoming speed.

And it generally gives that speed whenever we run speedtest (Ookla) at his PC. Been over 400 so no complaints with VM.

It does mean we had to network to ground floor, to get acceptable tinternet speed at 'Er Indoor's and my PCs not to mention wireless.
Tried plug in extenders but (thanks to VPL) realised they were throttling the signal as limited to 100mbps.
Run about 40 yards of Cat5e, played with different RJ45 plugs and ended up with a consistent 200 to 220mbps speed at my computer.
This is with a TP link Archer 2 gigabit wifi router downstairs with the feed from the SH3 into the WAN port, then direct wired connections to my PC and to 'Er Indoor's unit and onwards to another gigabit switch feeding tother stuff (VM boxes)
SH3 in normal wifi router (not modem) mode.
TP Link settings default with SH3 setting dynamic IP addresses etc.

All seemed happy despite a nominal 150mbps drop along the new cable but can live with that. Or can upgrade cable if I decide I can't.

This is where it got silly.
Ran like that for a few days and then dropped to 50-70mbps at my PC.
SH3 still saw the TP link as 1000mbps.
Bypassing TP Link made no difference, rebooting all, unplugging, swapping ports still saw 350mbps at son's PC, max 75 at mine.
Google brought up plenty of networked superhubs seeming to have this sort of issue but no solutions.
Plenty of jargon on setting static IPs and modem mode not to mention spending a small fortune of top of the range kit but frustrating thing was mine had worked and I could not find a change.

Found a hint on one forum... PC network card settings.
Into device manager, network card properties and advanced. Speed setting.
Was set to Auto Negotiate.
Reset it to 1000mbps full duplex and reboot.

Back to 200-220mbps.
Seemingly no adverse effects on other PCs or use.
Pages are flying in on the web.

Dunno technical terms but seems like the Superhub3 doesn't like playing with auto negotiation and can latch up at a slow speed.


Early days but at the moment, a happy bunny.
Just gotta stick a gigabit network card into 'Er Indoor's PC cos her onboard connection is 10/100. And she is moaning :grin2:

Clio MkIII wiper problem

So...
End of Feb I had the problem with the wipers only working on fast. Stripped down and found the motor had been submerged due to blocked up drain holes (lots of good info on the forums for this). Bought a new motor off ebay and replaced then all was working fine until last week when the wipers kept stopping after a minute then do not respond at all until next time we turn the car over. Stripped it down and cleared up the drain again. Tried the motor without the arms and it worked fine for about an hour. Put the arms back on and they stopped. Took arms off for another look and back on again and its worked fine all week until this morning when it stopped working again. What could be wrong? Could it be the cheap aftermarket motor I bought from ebay? Or maybe something with the linkage or even the wiper arms. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Engine swap

I'm running a MK2 scenic and just wondering what and if possible engine could I swap in place for the stock 1.6vvt petrol engine. I'm wanting something with more grunt and that can be turbo'd and upgraded with forged pistons etc.

Carminat DVD update

I have just purchased a 2009 Laguna 2.0 GT and it has the Carminat Navigation ET Communication Carminat Bluetooth DVD Europe V31.1 which I believe is 2011.

Does anyone know what is the latest maps I can get and where? I have tried the Tom Tom and Renault website and there is nothing there or they are dead links.

Laguna 2 speaker upgrade

Hello! I'm thinking about speaker change in my Laguna 2. Any suggestions what to choose? Best price/performance.
I would like to change all door speakers. And preferably stay with original head unit.
If it's suggested to change head unit too, what you could recommend?
Changing small speakers in panel will change something?

Could they be OEM? Don't have proper tool on hand to unscrew them and see the other side.
