Valve lifters

Hi, just been rebuilding the head on my Megane 1.4 K4J engine but forgot to keep the valve lifters immersed in oil while the engine was in bits. I can't depress them, but is that normal? What should the lifters be like when I put them back in the engine? Does anyone know? Thanks for your help.

DAB option

Hi to all, just joined the forum and am looking for some help as regards DAB on clio. Clio had DAB radio when I bought it for my wife but since yesterday for some reason it no longer does.I have looked at options top left and there are only AM and FM...:frown2:
How do I get DAB radio option back. Wife going nuts as that is only one she listened to...Thanks in advance for any help...:wink2:

Nearside Rear Wheel Locked Up? (MEGANE III)

As I parked up on the road, I heard a loud grinding noise at the nearside rear. Sounded like an alloy wheel grinding against a curb. I got out of the car, looked at the wheel and found a tyre mark on the road as if I'd just tried doing a burn out. The tyre track was a meter long, trailing behind the nearside rear wheel.

I was parking up at 2mph, with foot on the brake pedal as the road is on a slight decline. No warning lights, car drives fine.

Recommended grease for gearbox output splines

Just replacing a driveshaft, I see I'm supposed to use Molykote BR2 type. I only have Comma LH and castrol PH as well as some brake grease.
Do I really need to order the right stuff, as the job is a bit urgent.

DP0 Automatic Transmission Software

Hi folks,

Yes, I did search, but I never seem to have much luck that way. I am about a week into ownership of my 2002 Espace 2.0 16V gas with the DP0 transmission. My friend put 2 new solenoids and a new pressure sensor in it. That stopped the fault light/limp mode from happening, but it is not correct, yet. When cold it shifts like a million dollars, but when the fluid gets up to operating temperature, the shift into 3rd gear is very long (about 65 km/h) and into 4th on't happen until an indicated 96 km/h.

I think it must need the updated software in order for the solenoids to work properly. I have pictures of the CLIP display. Can someone have a look, please, and tell me what version the existing software is and if there is anything displayed that should concern me?

r-link new maps

Hello



I bought a renault kagoo 2015 model from France and I transported it to Greece.


I bought the maps Eastern Europe V1000 from r-link store and I followed the installation instructions on the sd card.

The map files are transferred to the sd card but when the sd card is placed in the car it does not find them. I put the card in the car with the engine open but it does not show me any installation update.


The maps of France appear automatically.


From the r-link to the car when I am in the r-link stor I find the maps but do not installations.

Does anyone have any idea what might happen?

Clio MK2 1.2 16v Tappet settings?

Engine's at 76 thousend and needs tappets doing badly as it sounds like a diesel. Its also part of the service to at this stage.

Could someone brifly explaine how to adjust them in correct order please. Im going to leave front left side of car up so i can turn wheel by hand to get tdc.

Also if anyone knows correct tappet settings its year 2005 1.2 16v

Driving advice for Clio Mk 2

I got the Clio Mk2 1.9 diesel like a month ago and i would like some tips.


I can get the car moving by only releasing the clutch without pressing the gas pedal and it just moves at a set speed, its actually how i do it every time, release the clutch completly and then add gas. Is that OK to do? Should i do it differently?


When i am in second gear and release the gas pedal, then it slows down to a set speed and it seems to add gas on its own to maintain that speed. Its a bit annoying because that speed is a bit to high for parking lots and when i apply the brake to slow down further, the engine lugs. Is it OK to not touch the gas pedal while in second gear and just "coast" along?


Does the car add gas on its own when i am not pressing the gas pedal in first and second gear to prevent stalling or what? I know that diesel cars have enough torque at low RPMs to get a lightweight car moving with its idle revs, but i get the feeling that something else is going on.

Noisy fuel tank pump

Kangoo van 1.5dci..... My new van has a noisy fuel tank pump/sender, never noticed any noise on any previous dci Renault I've had, is it fubar'd or could it be something else, it's on all the time with ign on, I know it's a pig of a job to get the sealing ring back on I've done one before before.

Well, I am a new guy here. It has been my habit over the years to find online communities tailored to my existing and new acquisitions. Lucky, I have mostly found helpful, like minded and friendly folks. I try to do all my own work unless the lack of some special equipment prevents it.

So, now I am in Slovakia working on our summer home and needed a car (instead of borrowing friends cars all the time). I ended up with a 2002 Espace 2.0 16V gas engine and automatic transmission. Of course, it is not new and needs a few things taken care of. Hopefully, that's where you all come in :grin2: .

Adjust the automatic headlight darkness sensitivity?

I feel the lights come on pretty late, later than everyone else driving around me (and the streetlights) anyway.

Is there a way I can adjust the sensitivity in the Laguna Mk3? Or where are the light sensors placed, is it the one on the mirror on the front windscreen? Tempted to get to it and experiment with semi transparent tape if so.

I like the feature I just don't agree with the definition of dark :D

Car wont start after battery replacement

Hi , my battery died after wifey left interior light on and stayed on for 10 days after , when i came to the car battery was completely dead , so i went and bought a new battery and after i did the replacement the car cranked but did not start and the yellow error light on the dash board went on , so i got the launch x431 scanner and did a scan and several errors were present ( see attachement) immobilizer light is normal it flashes when car is locked and turn off when car is unlocked .. i erased these dtc codes and tried to start car but it didnt start and the codes immediately reappeared ...any help is welcome , thank you

I have an 08 Plate Clio Mk3 3 door, I am looking to install fog lights and I've seen that my Clio has 3 wires (black,pink,orange)

Does anyone know what each wire is for? My partners Mk2 Clio only has two wires (black and White)

This morning after driving for around 5 mins the check gearbox message appeared on the dash I managed to get to work and an hour later switched engine on and message had gone. Travelled for around 30 mins didn***8217;t come on again. Does anyone know what this could be only had car since April and really not good with cars

Hello I have a diesel manual transmission 2006 clio mk3 and recently my engine has been sputtering and jerking in between 1500-2000rpm. Just had the diesel filter replace still doing it. Don***8217;t know what else it could be.

Renault Espace IV 2.2 dci turbo lagging black smoke

I have a Espace IV 2.2 dci witch is acting up on me.
If i press the accelerator to the floor it will not generate boost, it tries to accelerate by adding diesel but without boost it just generates black smoke.
If i lift my foot and press again the it will generate boost and act normal.
If i just hold my foot down it will generate a code, can't remember witch right now (I'll get back to that later)
The turbo is a china turbo, but ran without problems before.
I have an other car with the same engine so i tried to svop parts.
This is the parts i have svoped.

Laguna 3 instrument cluster removal

Hi, the instrument cluster led display is acting up so I want to remove. Looks like a plastic cover and two nuts/screws holding in place. Can anyone tell me how I got about remove, including unclipping that plastic bit.

Won't rev over 1500rpm Trafic 2 2.0

Hi guys. My first time posting but had some great advice in the past so thank you all.

My problem. I bought a 2008 Renault trafic 2 2.0 dci115 navigation long wheel base in may this year. Drove it all the way from Birmingham to Hamburg in Germany a few days after and ran fine (a little stutter at high revs 3500+) but caused no issues. Then after a few weeks it began to lose performance and wouldn***8217;t rev over 2500rpm.

I looked through the posts on here and settled on the MAF sensor being the cause. I cleaned it with the proper cleaner and it solved the problem, but only for half an hour or so. Then each time I cleaned it it worked for a few minutes then went back to knackered again.

Being in Germany and speaking very little german I decided to order a new MAF from eurocarparts in the uk and had it shipped over. After fitting the new part it got slightly worse and wouldn***8217;t got over 1500 rpm, 25 mph max on a downhill slope.

Within this time it developed a rattle from the engine. A loud knocking noise that only happens whilst driving, nothing whilst revving.

Initially thought the big end was on its way out but I***8217;ve driven it from my hotel to my job (around 2km) for 3/4 weeks now. I know that***8217;s a bad idea but no choice.

There is no smoke and it***8217;s lost no oil. Starts fine every time.

I took it to a german garage and they told me to take it to a Renault dealer but the language barrier was an obstacle.

They did point towards the pipe from the inter cooler. Not sure what they meant.

I***8217;ve read loads online regarding dpf , map, egr etc but I***8217;m struggling to get parts out here for some reason.

Does anyone have any idea where I should start. I have tools but no ramp.

Checking version of Satnav maps and Aux in Laguna 3

Hi,


Does anyone know how to check what version of maps I have on a 2009 Initiale Laguna Estate.


My radio is the Cabasse Tronic Carminat CD with bluetooth (no cd changer or CD/DVD in the glovebox).


Aslo does anyone now if version 32 of the maps comes with a system update. I've seen elswhere the french have a version 34 DVD which comes with a system update CD. I was wondering if their is any benifit to buying the french map update from another site just for the system update CD.


I might as well ask if anyone knows of any way to add a line input to this steroe. I don't have the "update" list and I have the factory blietooth. From my reading on this foroum am I correct in thinking the bluetooth has used the only input connector and that it's not a possibility. I was looking to later buy a Pure 200 and would have prefered a wired connection but looks like I will be stuck with FM.


I've all but given up on replacing the whole system with a tomtom system as I can;t for the life of me find a head unit with the beige surround so it would look odd in my car. I can find the display and control stalk on ebay easy enough.

2010 Megane Won’t Start - Fuse F19

I also, like many, have the problem of this 25A fuse, F19, blowing. Just started becoming more regular.
There are a few threads on this where the resolution is to change the fuse but don’t identify the cause of the fuse blowing. I am trying to establish the cause of the fuse blowing.
Unless I can get this fixed soon so that it doesn't happen again I think my wife will be suggesting a new car - cant afford that option!!!
Ok the fuse is blowing but why? I need to try and diagnose the root of the problem but need some info about what the fuse supplies. I could trace it out but would prefer info from a drawing so that I can cut to the chase.
Can anyone tell me - what does this fuse supply? is it the solenoid on the starter motor body? if so is that all it supplies?
Or if someone has already diagnosed the reason it blows that would be better still.


I have a 2010 Renault Megane and the engine fusebox is USM BD95 L1

The second owner acquired the car 28.3.2015 – The MOT ran out in Sept 2015 & was

Central locking

Hi everybody,

i have a Clio 2003, 1.2 16v and the UCH unit started failing on me so i had it replaced with a used one but working (since i can't get the original anymore).

And after the replacement everything works fine except the remote key unlock. It will lock the car using the key but it won't unlock. When i click the button on the key to unlock (after i've locked) the lights flash and it makes a noise but it doesn't actually unlock the car.

If i try the unlock button inside the car it works fine.

I'm really happy with the new UCH unit because with the old one i would lose signal lights randomly or the car wouldn't start etc but now that i got the new one i just wanna see if there is a way to get the unlock key part "hacked" or fixed.

My car guy said that the UCH i got is ver5.3 and i had 5.1 or something like that and that that is the problem.

Anybody got any ideas or is this just not fixable?

Master 2.5 DCI STOP/battery light

Hi Guys. I have a 2006 2.5 master, just started it up and as soon as i turn the steering wheel the STOP light comes on along with battery light, steering seems to go heavy too..... Had no symptoms before hand, any ideas? cos i am thinking steering pump has just gone kaput....
Aux belt is still on and turning and as soon as i release the steering wheel the lights go out. Any ideas as i am really stuck. Cheers

Borge & Beck and Firstline same company?

Well i purchased a borge and beck clutch cable and recived a firstline one. So i went back for an exchange and they said they didnt have any borge and becks cables so give me a firstline brand becasue apparintly both brands are the same! I pointed out that the firstline cable was £13 and borge and beck was £27.

So if there the same what did i pay more for


So really what im thinking is if both brands are the same company are the items each brand sells is the same meaning exacly the same in quality.

When iv seen firstline stuff it normally look cheap and most mechanics i spoken too also say its cheap rubbish.

But when i mention borge and beck they say good quality stuff.

Grand scenic rear windows

Hi have a 2005 grand scenic with rear window issues rear passenger side only works from the front even though rear switch is fine. And the rear drivers wont work off front or back switches even though with an earthed circit tester screwdriver i can touch the wires on the conector for the switch and window goes up and down. Use the switch it dosent work. Grrrr anyone any advice? Driving me insane. Many thanks. Phil

2010 grand scenic reverse light fault

I have had an issue with the reverse light, reverse parking sensors and rear wiper not working when the reverse gear is selected since February. I have checked all fuses and replaced the reverse switch but still no reverse light etc. I have also checked the bulb. Any help would be appreciated to fix this as I haven't got a clue what else to try.

Groaning noise front axle Espace IV

2007 2.0 dCi Grand Espace, 130k miles.

I managed to change the anti roll bar bushes without completely removing the subframe - it's possible to drop the rear of the subframe by disconnecting the side bracket mountings (18mm bolt accessed in wheelarch) and rear mountings (big bolt plus 2x smaller bolts for reinforcement plate).

This drops the rear of the subframe JUST enough to access the anti roll bar bracket bolts - I was able to swap out the old rubbers and slide in some new ones, with the help of some grease.

BUT now when I drive the car I get a groaning noise, like a creaking, coming somewhere from front axle, and can be felt through steering. (NB I changed drop links at the same time so they're new).

I don't think it's a co-incidence that it happened after I dropped the subframe... what have I broken, any ideas??!! :surprise:

Suddenly no start up, Boardelectronic broken

Hi Guys,
Im from Germany, but i can not find any Solution.
I need your help.
Tuesday it did normally start up, drove to work later back.
On the next day it didnt start. It wasnt cranking at all.
Display says Board Electric broken.

I checked all fuses in the box next to the battery. I did charge the Battery, i tried jump start. I did check the 3 Fuses on the Battery ( all give full V current throw it ) . I cleaned all Contacts. I checked the connectors to the device behind the battery.
I dont get a connection with my OBD2 somehow.
I dont know what to do.

Espace IV and Trafic common parts

Looks to me like lots of Espace IV and Trafic parts may be compatible, although they are listed under different part numbers. Eg rear shocks look the same mounting points (obviously specs will be different for a van v people carrier).

Does anyone know if they're transferable? Trafic rear shocks listed a lot cheaper than Espace ones...!

Megane RS -2011 weird turbo noise

Hi!

Having a strange noise inside the cabin when the turbo starts to spool on a Megan RS 2.0 T-2011 , it sounds like the defroster suddenly begins to blow. It does not sound metallic like the turbo begins to brake, but more like "woooosshh ..." like some air leak noise, which ends immediately after you've stopped accelerating. The car does not feel powerless when the sound comes and pulls well anyway. When driving gently no strange sound appear. And no engine light is on.

Some tips on what it can be? One shop has looked at it and couldn't find anything wrong....
I think it must be a boost leak or something, but where since it not seem to affect performance.... Or can the turbo starting to give up?!

ups downs and finally success

hi everyone, over the last month ive read quite a lot of posts from other members regarding the same problem ive had with my mk1 scenic, so thought id write this in the hope it may help someone with similar troubles,

i recently bought a 1999 mk1 scenic, 1.6 16v
it was running rough and spluttered and chugged, with the idle speed only reading 5-600 rpm ,it sounded at times like driving an old vw beetle and the gear stick danced around when it was stood ticking over in idle but once it was running it ran fairly well and didnt hesitate on acceleration
i was told by the previous owner that it was an air sensor that needed replacing
well i changed the manifold air sensor and the map sensor and although it sounded better it still chugged and the idle speed remained low,
so i then changed the idle speed valve and once again it sounded better but still no change in the beetle engine sound or the idle speed,i even changed all the coils and plugs but still no joy
i then thought i wonder if theres a small blow on the exhaust and thats why the revs are low and it sounds throaty,the join between the front and middle pipe didnt seem all that great,
so i had the front and middle pipe replaced and it ran a lot better, a lot quieter but still didnt help the idle speed on tickover or the chugging and the gear stick dancing around, and vibrating
i always had the feeling at the back of my mind that it was one of the injectors that had given in and wasnt having any of it,
so i got a replacement fuel rail complete with injectors from renparts ,only to find that the fuel line connection on the one they sent was different to mine, and as i have never changed injectors before i got a bit nervy
but i bit the bullet and seperated the injectors from the replacement fuel rail and installed them onto mine and put it all back together, and with my fingers crossed ,started the engine, and to my great joy it sounded absolutely wonderful, very smooth,quiet ,no dancing gearstick and the idle speed when it warmed up sat nicely at 750 rpm, i very nervously took it for a run, thinking it would only be a short lived success as things never go smoothly for me, but it ran fantastic and touch wood is still going fine:grin2::grin2::grin2:

1989 T1000 - parts

I know it's a long shot, but I'm struggling to find any spare parts (windows and speedometer) for my van. Does anyone know if there are alternative makes of van (e.g. Vauxhall etc) that had the same build spec as mine that I could reuse parts from? Love my van, but he's impossible to replace parts on. Thanks

SCENIC 1 MK1 1996-2003 Ignition Switch

I've lost the keys, but car is unlocked. Will there be any problem in fitting a replacement ignition barrel re immobiliser ? Will ity have to be programmed ? If so how ?

05 renault trafic reverse lights not workig

Hi my reverse lights have been working fine until yesterday I have changed bulbs and the switch on the gearbox today and still no joy. Could anyone shed any light on the situation please
