Police in Baltimore, Maryland, said he was stopped for speeding after being caught going 84mph (135km/h) in a 45mph zone early on Tuesday morning.

Mr Phelps was co-operative but failed a series of standard field sobriety tests, traffic police said in a statement. He was charged and released.

The most decorated Olympian ever, with 22 medals, later apologised on Twitter.

"I understand the severity of my actions and take full responsibility," Mr Phelps wrote.

Nissan Primeaster dci 100 lack of power/limp mode

Problem advuce greatly appreciated.



We have a 1.9 dci 100 van which has a lack of power and depending on how it's pulling especially in 5th and 6th gear goes into limp mode. Glow plug lamp and electronic warning lamp located under liw fuel level lght comes on at 2100 revs.



Ignition can be turned off and on again goes back to normal until 2100 revs reached when the same thing happens.



Changed egr valve, boost pressure sensor and mass air fliw meter already. Diagnostic shows boost pressure fault.

1998 Renault Kangoo 1.9d misfire and white smoke

Hi people, I have recently purchased a low mileage 1998 renault kangoo 1.9d van as a run around. I bought it knowing there was an issue with a misfire and upon viewing the van noticed airbubbles in the fuel line... So i took a risk and bought it and changed the fuel filter right away! Now theres no more air bubbles in the fuel line however im still getting a misfire when approching junctions. If i put my foot down and rev the engine hard i get loads of white smoke (smells of unburnt fuel) and then it clears and the van goes fine..ish again. Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated :)

oil leak/shower

I've been doing some work on a 2006 scenic 1.5 dci. I, had to remove the turbo and inlet manifold etc. No problem there.



Its all back together,but I cannot stop oil from pouring out the turbo oil feed where it screws into the head. I first fitted a new seal, exactly the same. so I ordered a new pipe. All fitted ok and still its leaking. More than leaking. Its P**sing out oil.



Any help appreciated

Rx4 Front Suspension Noise

When driving, as I pass over the usual bumps and dips in the road, there is a knocking coming from the front of the car. It sounds like bushes on the lower arms, yet on inspection they are fine.... As are the trackrod arms. Does anyone have any ideas??

high there I have a 2010 grand scenic whilst replacing cleaning out water from reversing light parking sensors gone off air con and brak pedle sensor on starting also gone is it a fuse or a relay if so were are they on car ive heard there under the battery is this so thanks for all help. martin

espace 4 basket case

Hi guys,

My car was putting out white smoke for the first several miles after starting. I have just taken the head off my 2.2 dci 150. Exhaust valve burnt on no.3 burnt, left metal deposits in exhaust tract.



No.3 piston partially melted towards the edge.



Has anyone got an idea what may have caused this?



:crazy: Not much in the way of clues.

I left neat engine flush in the cylinders for 48 hours, thinking it may have had stuck rings.

clutch removal

Hi all,



I hoping for a little advise please, my mums clio 1.2 02 plate has started to slip on the clutch. going to replace over the weekend, could i have some advise on the following please.

1. as its cable does the gear box oil need to be drained.


2. does both drive shafts need removing or just the passenger side.


3. and on average how long does it take, not done a clio before.


4. also i have seen mixed answers on sub frame, does it need to come out or can it be done with leaving it alone.

Megane 2 1.6 2003 - Normal Revs at 70mph?

Hi Chaps, Newb here!

I've owned many cars in my time, but this is the first Megane i've owned.

Megane 2, 1.6, Petrol 2003 plate.



It has a few niggles that i'd like some advice on.



1) rattle on startup and failure to Idle when cold - doing research on here i beleive this is the Dephaser issue which i have penciled in as one of the first things that i need to do.



2) High Clutch Pedal Bite Point - again on here a lot of people say that this car does suffer from a High Bite Point naturally so i guess i'll just live with it - there doesnt appear to be any slip from the clutch so i guess its ok....



3) this bit does concern me - when i am on the Motorway, getting up to around 70MPH, the engine Rev Needle is almost on 4,000 revs - to me thats not normal, in most cars i've had, in 5'th gear, at 70mph the needle rarely goes over 2,000rpm



Are the Meganes just a revvy engine and is high RPM of 4,000rpm at 70mph normal?

Problems with vibration

Hello people,

I am new to the forum.



3 months ago I bought a Renault Scenic II 1.9 DCI 96 KW 130 HP 2006

I have a vibration on the gas pedal mostly between 2000 and 2300 rpm in any gear, even at idle, I changed my big hydraulic engine mounts and definitely is better but still feel tiny vibrations

Is it possible that the vibrations transmitted carrier lever or something else

Sometimes when a car left parked on a slope a few days no little vibration



Another problem is that we are only at the first movement at 13 kmh I have a strange thumping sound from the front right portion (say that five times hear the thump, thump) thereafter'll never be heard until you turn off the car.

When you reload the same car again heard only once.

On the forums, I found that the ESP pump has a check.

How can I fix this

remove cylinder head on megane

OK lads, the first thread for this car was replacing a timing belt. That was successful with a lot of help on this forum. The upshot is that the car survived the broken belt with what sounds like one or two fluffy exhaust valves. It starts first time and drives but emboldened by my success I'm taking off the head and fixing my valve problem. Got someone local who will do a valve restoration for £40-00 and replacement at £6-00 per valve and skim the head, just in case, for £42-00, they've been in this business for 30 years so I'm going for it.

First off I got some cracking tips here that made life so much easier and I'm hoping for the same, so what's the skinny on this job, are there any similar good tips for me on this procedure.

One thing I'm curious about, Haynes says I need to drain the water and oil. I understand the water but is my oil not likely to be simply lying in the sump, why do I need to drain it ?

New Here - starting problems with megane fidji 2002

I have a megane and had no problems with it up till now. Last week on two occasions I started the car and heard nothing but started fine on the second attempt. went out yesterday and would not start but was turning over and a jump start sorted it. Went out at 1am this morning just to make sure it was still working and everything was fine, went out at 8am this morning - same thing. however went out to go to work at 8:30am and it would not start - got a jump start and it would not start, tried everything to start this thing without success - any ideas? should add noise coming from right side of car once car is running.

Broken oil dipstick

Hi all

I have just purchased a 2001 Clio 1.2 for my son to learn to drive.

Just checked the oil dip stick and found the bottom part below the O ring broken in the oil tube, tried to get it out by various methods but no luck.

Question how difficult will it be to remove to engen sump to get this broken part out.

Clio sport immobiliser

Hi i have a 2000 clio sport 172. The car is my rally car iv worked on it for the last two months to get it finished finally got all the work done went to start it the morning of my first rally in it and there was nothing, the engine turned over but did not fire up the immobiliser light just flashes not fast just at its normal rate the fuel pump primes but there is no spark! Can someone help and just confirm that this is the immobiliser locking the ecu!

Remove Clio 4 (2014) Dash/Glove Box

Hi All



Been looking for the method to remove the glove box from my Clio 4 so that I can change the AutoDAB antenna that was fitted.



I can get the medianav and surrounds off fine but can only see a single torx screw in the glove and it will not budge beyond this.



I am confident in fitting the new antenna myself if I can just get in to get the old one out first. I have asked my Renault garage but they refuse to assist but will do the work for £150 for my which is a bit much.



Had a look for videos etc on Google but it is all different models with different dash layouts.

Scenic 07 1.6 missing 5th and 6th gears

I.ve lost 5th and 6th gears.

1st and 2nd is where 3rd and 4th were and 3rd and 4th is where 5th and 6th were.

original 1st and 2nd gears positions dont do anything. gear knob also has lost its tension. when the car is stopped and i push the gearknob to the right it stays there and doesn,t spring back to the middle.

Should I buy a cheap scenic II?

Hi there, My wife has just had an accident which has written off our 8 year old Volvo v50. After the insurance has paid off the remaining finance we're left with about £1400. Rather than taking out fresh finance we're considering just seeing what we can buy for that. We're dog owners so need an estate type car with a separate compartment for Doogle our 8 year old bearded collie. Perusing the auto trader, there's not much around in the same price bracket which offers the same level of equipment for the money as a Scenic II - I love the panoramic roof, I like the style of the car and the fact that relatively low mileage examples can be picked up reasonably cheap.



BUT.



I also hear horror stories of dodgy electrics ruining the experience - I'm fairly handy and don't mind fixing stuff if I have to, but I DON'T want to be shelling out hundreds of pounds for expensive electrical diagnostics.



Given that I can buy a (high mileage, boring but very reliable) Skoda Octavia estate for the same money - should I go with my heart and buy the Scenic? How bad exactly is the reputation. What percentage of cars display these faults? How easy are they to fix?

Hi can anyone tell me the best way to syphoning the Diesel from my car please?



I have been told that the tank is anti syphon but didn't know if there is any pipe under the bonnet etc that I could pop off..

megane 2 front camber adjustment

hi I have a mk2 megane on a 53 plate lowered 30mm sitting on 17inch alloys .my question is.. is there any way to alter/change the front camber as its eating tyres on the outside edge more so on the drivers side I have just got 2 new rear shockers and am gona replace the front in the nxt two weeks and get a 4 wheel alignment but I want it more sitting on the inside edge of the tyre

Can anyone help ? I have a 1.4 clio Dynamique. I had until today a bad knocking from n/s on rough roads but not too bad on the smooth ones. With the car on the ground and stationary i can move the wheel from the top in and out more than it should. I say the knocking noise has gone because I changed the top mount, wishbone and drop link today took it for a test drive and the knocking noise has pretty much gone. If i jack the car up the wheel does not move so not sure if it is the bearings that have gone. There is no whining noise when driving.. so very confused why wheel is loose on ground but not off ? ?

If anyone could help so I can buy the correct part.

Renault megane scenic 54

Hi. I've just paid for a new heater blower to be installed in my car but when car came back LED lights on dashboard are staying on all the time and have now run down battery completely twice. Mechanic is saying it's not his fault and is now another problem. Can anyone help me please as he took dashboard out to fix heater blower. Is there an easy solution to fix it? Thanks for your help. intermittent missfire megane 1.5dc1 2005

Hi I have just bought a Megane 1.5dci expression 2005 that has had a timing belt and a full service just before i bought it. I drove it about 10 miles ok and put some fuel in and drove another mile ok.



On driving in to my street in 3rd gear I noticed the engine was a bit lumpy and thought i had it in the wrong gear. i changed to 2nd and the problem cleared.



On driving away later I kept car in 2nd and noticed the judder again. as soon as i altered the throttle it cleared but I noticed a bit of smoke that smelled like fuel. The car is fine on the open road and at tickover with no smoke and plenty of power.



I plugged car in to a diagnostic computer that came up with code 0670 as this relates to the glow plugs i do not think this is relevant but while under the bonnet i noticed air in the fuel line from the hand primer to the filter but I had another look today and the fuel line looked fine until i stopped the engine and left it a few minutes.



I then saw the pipe almost fill up with air so checked to see if there were any fuel leaks. access is limited behind the headlight but all appeared to be fine.



Is this likely to be the cause of my judder or is it normal? Any advice would be very welcome

So I have just bought a GT 165.............. but well I want it modded...........



The initial things I was done are:



New alloys..... I wanna see if I can get 18" comfortable, got my eye on the assassins.

I want the upholstery redone...leather (my dad is an upholsterer and can do this)

I want a new 225 bumper

I am thinking about adding a small amount of colour re wrapping too



Now..... performance:



I need ideas! I can't possible stick to the 165hp, so I need ideas. I want more power than a remap can offer so what else can I do :)

clio 3 2007 1.5 dci 106 horn location

Hi there.



Anyone know the location of the horn on the model listed in the title please.



Some people are saying it's behind the pass side wheel arch cover and some are saying ill have to remove the front bumper.



I need to replace or clean the connections as it's stopped working.

engine not starting

Drove my 2001 2.2cdi Renault Espace to the shop all was well. Came out of shop and it would not start just like it had no fuel, even with over half a tank. AA could not get it started so towed me home and still there now and will not start. Thanks for any help I can get.

Thanks for this forum I have searched and fixed 2 issues on this Laguna 2.2 dci Sports Estate today, so thanks.



But have two questions which may be easy solved.



(1) Hazzard Indicator Switch.



I push it on and NIL happening, so thought its a faluly relay / fuse or switch.



Last night after checking fuse, I must of left it in the on (Down) position, got up this morning and the hazzards are working.



Turned them off by depressing the switch and tried to turn them on but NIL again.



Thoughts?



Second is the fuel MPG.



Let me explain, when I purchased it, there was injector fault, smoke like a trubo gone, but being a handyman, I performed a lot of fault self diag and found that the pressure was low, indicating its an intake manifold gasket or like that and not Turbo blown.



If you dive it and ease it below 1800 RPM, you can slot it into 6th and cruise up the highway with little smoke / (Black) but if you drop it back and hit the gas, then pitty anyone behind you.



So, 4 hours, and replaced the intake manifold gasket and other top seals on injectors which came in the 30 quid kit.



Bingo, solved the blown turbo and smoke to a degree as I have only just performed this and not knowing how long past owner has been driving with this issue, I am still getting a slight BLACK on hard acceleration, but its slowly clearing.



Now, I drove with the fault like I said above for 200 KM, the trip computers said I was getting 45 MPG



Since the fault is now fixed I am getting same MGP



What should a 2.2 dci Estate 2002 manual get? (MPG) " it has 122,000 Miles on the clock.



I have a few other issues which I see comments on so will address them later, thanks and do please comment?

Select Neutral

Hi



Right, I have read many a post on here regarding issues with Scenics and Megane's relating to the car not starting and the display showing "Select Neutral", I am currently experiencing this issue. None of the posts I have read appear to have a definative answer, the AA guy told me it was something to do with teh fuse box and the car thinks it's an automatic, I don't believe this.



Does anyone have any ideas as to the actual cause of this or indeed a resolution?



It's a Megane II 1.9 dci Convertible.

New to Renault and Clio

Hello there. I'm still finding my way around this forum so please excuse any gaffs. I've just bought my first Renault (a 2001 Clio 1.2). This is a particularly nice car with only 53,000 miles on the clock. On my test drive, the sun roof didn't creak nearly as much as others I have driven. Maybe this is an indication of how little rust there is in the sills.

I paid the dealer extra to replace the cam belt, water pump, and gearbox torque arm before I purchased, and they threw in a free service and MOT, plus a few other minor bits at no charge. :d



I used to be a Citroen GS man some years ago so know the charms of French cars, even though they are less weird/characterful (take your pick) than I remember pre 1980s. :crazy:



I really like the Clio. It feels a bit like my old Nova in the handling department when you chuck it about:devil:, except for the Clio's less tired shocks and more placed feel on the road. The smaller engine of my Clio is quite sweet if lacking the Nova's midrange stomp and hill climbing ability, but you can only expect so much from 1149cc. Improved fuel economy is one benefit I am hoping for. I'm also enjoying cruising at a more sensible pace and being able to actually hear my car sound system, which is very good in the Clio for a factory fitting.:cool:



An added bonus is the tape player, which many on here wish to replace. :confused:

I was pleasantly surprised at how good this unit is. The owners manual makes reference to the high quality of the tape head and recommends top spec tapes. Fortunately I have a good collection of such cassettes recorded on a Nakamichi. If anyone in the westcountry still has a good player gathering dust in the cupboard I wouldn't mind taking it off you as a spare. :d



No issues yet to report, but perhaps I have much to learn from here!

The central locking on my 2004 Kangoo Expression seems to have gone mad. The doors and tailgate lock and unlock as I’m driving along and do the same thing), lock and unlock), when the car is parked and no one is in it and the key is out of the ignition.Any ideas?

Can anyone help my 2006 megane reverse lights won't come on but when I wiggle the gear stick in reverse they come on anyone know what it is?

Clio IV 1.5dci - Active or passive regen? Any problems?

Just wondering if anyone knows whether the Clio IV's 1.5dci 90 has active or passive DPF regeneration, and if anyone has had any issues with it?



I thought it was pretty unusual that the user manual makes no mention of the DPF and regeneration. Found online that it uses a 'Close-Coupled Diesel Particulate Filter' - but nothing to explain what exactly that means!

Is the Clio IV 1.5dci Engine (K9K608) Oil hungry?

Picked up my new Clio the other day and noticed the car came with a bottle of oil which I've never had in any other new cars I've had before.



Does the 1.5dci burn a lot of oil, or is it just thirsty while it's being run in?

Hi folks! Thought i'd introduce myself as the proud new owner of a Clio IV! I had a Vectra previously and was registered with the Vectra-C forum, so figured I'd do the same with the wee Renault!



I previously had a Laguna about 6 years ago, so this is now my second Renault (first new one) and my first impressions are that I LOVE the car :).



Looking forward to chatting to folk on here and learning from your experience!

Clutch Cable block anchor shattered

I lost my gear selection when the mounting that holds the clutch cable shattered. I believe it was a consequence of the retaining nut slackening of due to vibration. when I depressed the clutch to change gear there was a loud bang and the clutch pedal disabled. The retaining plate for the cable is steel and intact, however the mounting for the plate was part of the original alloy clutch plate housing. Any suggestions short of replacing the whole housing block, thanks.

Rear Cycle Carrier for Megane MkII (54 plate)

I have searched, but can't find anyone that has posted about rear cycle carriers at all. The Meg has a plastic cowl on the rear hatch that has the hi-level rear brake lights in it. Can you attach a normal strap type carrier to this or would you have to cut through the plastic to get to the metal hatch frame. Is there a company that does a carrier specifically for the MegII?

hi can anyone tell me how I replace one of the led daytime running lights as 2 do not light.

I know how to remove the headlight unit as I have changed the headlight bulb.

ok as my last post for my seats was moved in to the electronics section(for no idea why as seats have nothing to do with electrics unless you got electric seats witch i dont have)im after info on my seats moving forwards well to be more precise the back rests i can move them forwards and not with the adjustment knob they move about a inch or so i have pasted a video here for you all to see i never noticed in other cars if they did it but id like to know before i put it in for its mot thanks in advance......

Help!

Whilst changing the rear 501 light on my Laguna 2 I seem to have fused several others

Now both rear NS lights are out as well as my dash and on of the Os rear lights

The bulbs are ok and as far as I can see the fuses in the cabin are ok too

Does anyone know what else it could be?

Battery charge fault

My car is a 2008 Renault Scenic Grande 1.5 Dci. Every time I start the car a 'Battery charge fault' message appears on the dashboard. The alternator is less that two years old as is the battery. It has now progressed to a pitched noise every now and again even when the car is being driven. Any Ideas?

Megane 1 exhaust downpipe seized nuts/studs

I'm attemping an engine change on my 99 Megane coupe 1.4 16v.



I'm trying to disconnect the exhaust at the downpipe where there are three studs and nuts. Nuts are badly rusted and I can't get at them with a set of grips, plus the conical shape of the fancy nuts doesn't help. I've managed to cut one of the top ones off with a small grinder but haven't had any success with the others.



I've tried heating them red hot few times and used lots of penetrating fluid.



Any ideas how I could get those damn nuts/studs separated?:(

We have recently been gifted a modus by the inlaws, nice little car, wife (her parents) loves it,

On the steering columb there is a set of phone buttons, answer, end call and a middle one, had a look in the manual but didnt see anything obvious, Simple queston really, does this mean it has a phone kit fitted?? If so, how does it work please??

Hey all, iv just bought a laguna mk2, i also own a skyline and an a3 tdi, i bought the laguna to use for work, I got it cheap as it needs a few bits doing, I generally do alot of the mechanical side of things myself, but when it comes to electrics, its a brick wall....



any way. so my main problem is the rear doors will not unlock..... n/s/r was like it when i got the car but the o/s/r door had a broken cable and the motor was disconected, so today i replaced the motor, then before i shut the door, i decided to test it, so pushed the catch in with a screw driver and then looked with the key card, then unlocked, pulled the handle, nothing, stayed locked, the only way i managed to unlock it is to turn the manual overided screw on the inside of the door, but as soon as you lock the car, it does it again......



so for now iv just left the car unlocked so atleast i got one rear door that can open, but even then, i can only open from outside, its like a child lock has stuck on...



any ideas on this? both mechanisms have been changed, so can only be electronic...

Battery dying?

Hi there, I have an 06 scenic II which I think has an electrical fault. It won't start but starts, with jump leads, first time however after a few minutes driving the power steering goes, warning lights including a stop light come on. I toot the battery out and charged it last night put it in and it started first time however after a couple of minutes driving the low battery warning light came on and the steering started to get heavy. I thought it might be the battery but am I right in thinking that once started the battery doesn't do much so why would the car be dying? Any advice greatfully received.

Can't get the drum back on??!!!

Hi all, I've had a very frustrating afternoon with my 2003 Kangoo 1.5dci. It started out easily enough changing the rear brake shoes and a leaking wheel cylinder. Anyway, its all back together, except I can't get the drum back on.



I've wound back the adjuster as far as it will go (its about 1mm from completely at the stop, but won't go any further). I've measured the shoes and they are set at exactly 204mm which 1mm above the drum size. Anyone got a plan as to how I might get the last 2mm I need?

Help laguna almost caught fire this morning

I have just got this car and last night I went to go out and noticed that no inside lights worked even map lights buttons all dead, so today I checked fuse ,ha ha it was blown so I put in another parked car in supermarket went in shop came out and there is bad smelling smoke pouring out from around passenger seat belt and a hole in rear passenger kick plate I quickly thought the fuse so went to pull it as I opened fuse door it poped ! So smoke clears and just caught it! Now this evening I just went to garage and put side lights on and noticed now I have no dash lights on the speedo rev counter fuel temp gauges so thought maybe that fuse got hurt this morning and again ha ha it was blown so found another put it in tried lights and pop it blows it again! So has any one come across any of this before? I ha ve a 2002 dy 1.6 petrol any advice please , many thanks Amy

Engine cuts out when driving - intermittent. Solved.

If you are getting an engine management warning light and the the engine dies on you this might be the fix.I had this problem and Googled it for hours and noticed the same fix about 3 or 4 times. This is what I did:

• To the back of the engine block, close to the windscreen is a metal box. In our case we could just lift the metal lid off.


• Beneath there is an electrical loom. Looking at it closely I could see that the insulation on some of the wires had been rubbed off to reveal bare copper. We guessed the movement of the car had allowed the metal lid to rub against the insulation. Bad design really.


• Because this lid is made of metal it seems that every now and then it shorts out these wires and the engine management system light comes on and the engine dies. Bit worrying if you're in the outside lane at the time!


• I taped up the loom and pulled a piece of hard plastic over the top and then taped that in place on the basis that although copper was showing the wires weren't touching, it was the metal lid that acted as a conducter.


• Put the lid back on and it's been fine ever since.

I have seen all kinds wrong fixes for this problem but if you are getting an engine management warning light and the the engine dies on you this might be the fix.

RX4 Noise

Hello Renault-philes!

Recently we bought an RX4, it ticked all of our boxes,4-wheel drive, East Kent can get considerable amounts of snow ; 2.0, 1998cc Litre, 16V about two weeks ago, cash sale. However (the oil was cold on the demonstration) it was only some days later when the oil was warm that under 1,500rpm a rattling- rasping noise was heard.



When it was booked into a local service garage they considered that it was the camshaft "Variator" making the noise with wear in the mechanism, causing the camshafts to rattle when the oil-pressure is low.



We had talked about the Timing- belt/Auxiliary belt being changed, but when a local independent service garage enquired to Renault, they stated that different mechanisms were used on the crankshaft, keyed & not-keyed, different pulleys & the whole thing became such a nightmare. Also with the Cam-Timing Bible, stating 4-5 hours labour time & a replacement variator adding £165 to the bill, plus possible replacement pulley, they advise another route than an £800-£1,000 bill!





What didn't help is that the another garage down the road who had a Camshaft- bolt up kit told them that the job was a nightmare and they wouldn't take one on again.



Its like no-one wants to do the job & the price is relatively astronomical for a simple belt-change!

Is this engine such a technical nightmare?



An option is to get the parts and do the job myself, over a couple of days. I have been advised by a French neighbour that parts in Belgium are much cheaper,(I live less than 20 miles from Dover). He goes across to there regularly.



For now an oil-change/filter change has been done.



Using YOUTUBE, technical information & a friend as support this is perhaps the only realistic option with regards to cost.

Megane II 1.4 Wont turn over

Hi all



Well just had a nice trip home on the back of a recovery van.



Problem is the car wont turn over. It unlocks the sterring column, you can hear the fuel pump prime, dash lights come on and off as normal then nothing. Power steering stays on. It behaves exactly as though ive left it in gear but haven't.



The recovery man tried starting it whith jump leads but still the same. I did do the clutch about a month ago so could have knocked something.



I will be checking all sensors, earth's ive moved doing the clutch but where is the switch it uses to check if its in gear? Is it on the gearbox or gear stick? However i fear that theory may not be any good because pressing the clutch to start instead of the brake does exactly the same.



Hope ive been descriptive enough and any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

sunroof wont open

when i press the sunroof button to open it, the sunroof lifts about 3/4 inch on side (drivers side) the other side satys down.



then the motor seems to carry on trying to lift the sunroof glass but cant then stops,

Problem with fuel pump/relay.

Hi! I have a 2001 1.6 megane Cabriolet. I have recently lost power whilst driving and the car seemed to run out of fuel (as I did a lot with my old car) I have noticed that the fuel pump does not prime when the ignition is turned on. I have a voltage at the fuel pump within the small wires which I assume is for the petrol gauge etc. no voltage with larger wires. Next step is to check fuse and relay in the engine bay. My problem being I have no idea what relay is for the fuel pump and the manual has no layout diagram. Any help appreciated

hi i am hoping you guys can help me with afew answers!

1. getting very loud clonk/bang when going over bumps?

2 went to over take on motorway when i turned into fast lane felt like back end of car was going to come out! , feels like i am driving with two rear flat tyers on corners! really worried and worries me!

car just past mot so can't be that bad would of thought!

3 just went to go out (its dark now) unlocked car exspecting inside lights to come on but no, thought swich maybe off but no none of the lights in roof work in back or front even map lights a mirror lights, dash all lights up ok so do clock sunroof works as was told same fuse so what can that be??

4, drivers window wont open ,tried memorey reset just made it worse as it now make nasty crunching grindding noise if try to open it!

and lastly

5, have long air hose that looks as it should be going to front air scoop but is just hanging lose next to battery

o and another on morning start it idels badly could this be to do with that air pipe?? right alot there guess which is why car was cheap! but it loverly looking motor had 12 mths mot 6 mths tax for £400 so if get one those bush tools get that clunk fixed hopfully that will solve the overstear and bad roll! any help much needed thanks Amy :):d

I will be honest I have seen a 3008 1.6 HDi that I have taken for a test drive and got to say even though its completely different looking than the Megane (nowhere near sporty or anything lol) it was very comfy and really nice to drive..

Laguna 2 indicator lights stuck on

Hi all, new member here. Question regarding a 2002 Lag 2 estate. Is there a setting that activates some sort of parking lights on the indicators??



I ask as I have a baffling problem with the left hand side front and rear indicators permanently stuck on, not flashing, just on even when the ignition is off and the keycard out, as well as when the car is running. Pulling the fuse kills them, but of course they just come on when the fuse is replaced.



Strangely, the indicator marker light in the door is not stuck on, and flashes as it should when the stalk is pushed left.



As a last resort I've sent the UCH to BBH and they can't find a single fault on it or the relays, so I'm at a loss. Their comment was also maybe there's some sort of parking light setting??



I'm also having an odd problem with the front windows only going up a few inches at a time, so it takes several pulls on the switch to get them all the way up or down, but I don't know if this is related.



I have seen other threads here on this issue, but haven't seen a solution as yet?

hi there everyone, I have a megane 2002, new head gasket timing belt and valve stem oil seals all been fitted, I have also fitted 2 recon injectors because I have check injection fault showing, car starts after about 3 presses of the start button, but when I rev it, it is smokey, I have been checking up on here and other sites, some are saying that the turbo could be at fault, is there anyway that I can check to see if it is the turbo or not, thanks

Radio stalk problem

Hi all. I recently fitted this stereo to my 55 plate clio extreme 4: http://ift.tt/YksI1u



I also bought these leads so I can use the stalk controls. These are aparantly the right cables:

Now I have connected the car leads to the above ISO commector along with the yellow plug. The above lead then to the ISO leads that go into the back of my HU and then the 3.5mm jack patch lead into HU and the stalk controls won't work.



I emailed them and they say they are correct leads and suggested I try things.



First he told me to connect certain leads first and switch ignition on and off and the. Tune a radio station. I haven't got a adapter for fm aerial

Yet so I asked if DAB would do and he said yes but would it?, so I set a pre-set DAB station and turned ignition off and back on and it still won't work.



He then said on the wiring harness disconnect the yellow and red bullet connectors and connect red to yellow and yellow to red and try that. The stalk still won't work. However after setting my Hu up again because I had disconnected leads it then displayed a demo mode which it does not do when yellow to yellow and red to red bullet connectors are together but with red to yellow it resets the HU once I turn ignition off and back on and wants me to set up again and just keeps resetting every time I turn ignition on and off and I also get like a pop sound from the speakers like you would get wen turning audio equipment off.



The guy wants me to send that black box to them for inspection because he thinks it's faulty. Surely it wouldn't be would it?



Does anyone know if there's a reason it's not working ?

I have a Renault Scenic 1.4 2001 which is slowly driving me insane (pun intended).



For a while now I have been hearing a noise from the front right hand side of my car. It's a high pitch whining noise. It's only after I've been driving for longer than 15 mins or more, mostly in 2nd and 3rd gear as I do drive mostly in built up areas. If I push the clutch in the noise goes away. But it's getting worse now, I'm starting to get some vibrations in the steering wheel along with that noise. Driving at 60mph I can feel grinding from under the car in the same area as the noise. I had it checked and I was told the breaks are ok. Any one with help/advice would be very welcome.

2001 Clio Key Replacement

Hi Guys,



I have a 2001 clio (MKII I believe)



Last week the key got stuck in the ignition barrel and no matter what it can't be ripped out. More than 1 pin must have collapsed inside.



I'm buying a new barrell and key, but I really don't want to pay for recoding it. I still have the black part of the key.



Now this is where I might sound dumb; Can I use the new key to start the car as it fits the ignition barrell? And use the black part of the old key to open the doors?



I had the same problem with one of my old cars and was able to swap the key chips in the keys so it worked fine.



Are you able to swap key chips in Clio keys like mines?



Any help would be amazing! I'm a broke student so every little helps :)

2005 Clio 1.2 miss firing

HELP... I just bought a clio 1.2 when i start it up its miss firing (sounds like a tractor) and the management light is on. Normally id take it to a garage but due to a few unexpected bills this month theres no chance of that happening.. Any advice what to try ?

Diff bearing, Drive Shaft or something else.

I have had my Laguna II on the drive for 3 years after I killed the clutch.



I habe found several issues of the Diff bearings amd Drive shafts going but no ones explaining how or what caused it.



I was driving to a round about and thinking I was in 4th i changed down when a car shot on the round about. Sadly I was in second so slamed the car into first! Woops....



Anyway, there's no weird noises im neutral, no noise when the clutch is pressed down. The only time a noise happens is when the clutch is up amd in ANY gear. It sounds like a dodgey shaft to me but i can't take the car apart untill i roughly know how to test and order parts.



So bassed on my dodgey late night driving, is that a common cause for any of the two usual issues?



Renault claimed they took the gearbox oil out and it had some slight contamination. But a 10 year old car will always have contamination so not sure how accurate their diagnosis is. Anyway, they wanted 3300 for a new box!



Car is a 2.0 Laguna II 03 NX03VNV if it helps.

Hi this may have been broached before but I cannot find it, my beast has become stiff on gear changes ( 07 6speed) and some times does not go in correctly and pops back out. Is there a fix or does anyone know of somewhere not to earth shattering expensive near portsmouth I can take her. She has done 94k . She does not seam noisy and until late only become more of a problem of late with stiffness:crazy: can anybody help me on this please

D4F Engine head gasket

After a lengthy conversation ive heard many ... MANY things about the D4F Engine that i dont know whether to believe or not lol



The main point ive heard that slight sludge builds up under the oil cap.... and this is not linked to the head gasket as there will be no coolant loss but is a common thing with the D4F Engine and is simply moisture ?

Renault Kangoo van 1.5 dci 2007 model

Hi Please Help I am new to this i have a problem with my van it starts fine but when i go to pull away it pulls back feels like i not got a lot of power so i bought a air flow sensor cleaner and replaced the air filter at the same time a little improvement but now the fault is coming back.

i also noticed when i filled with a tank of diesel that my mpg has dropped from average of 58mpg to 42 mpg still the van is having a lack of power i pluged the van to check for fault codes even though no lights have come on the dash and a fault code p0670 came up which when googled means its to do with the glow plug module control circuit.

I took the leads off the glow plugs and tested to see if power was coming through which it is i then checked the omms and i had no reading on 1 2 & 4 but no 3 was showing a reading of 1.6 which reading the haynes manuel is too high as the reading should be between 0 and 0.6 so i am going to replace the glow plugs and see if that makes a difference if anyone knows what else could be causing the lack of power issue i would be greatful to know as i thought the glow plugs only worked to start the van not the running of the van.

ive got a 2001 xreg 1.2 clio i suspect it has head gasket failure it overheated on the wife this morning expansion tank smells very petroly/oily and mayo on underside of oil filler cap



do the heads crack on these or not as ive never dealt with these before

Brake Failure Warning When Turning Right?

Hi was wondering if anybody has had this problem before or know what it could be before I take to garage for a diagnostic check.



When applying the brakes before turning right at a junction or roundabout the "BRAKE FAILURE" warning has started appearing on the dash the an audible beep. The ABS warning doesn't appear though so I'm rather confused on what it could be.

My car doesn't have any brake pad sensor attached or anything like that so any help on this matter would be great.

I am new to this forum and would like to say Hello to everyone.

I also have a problem with my Megane mk11 2009 CC as it is being a pig with the rear end in the wet! It is all ok in the dry but in the wet is another thing!

It has had be sideways around a roundabout and I don't know why?

The tyres have at least 5mm left on them and pressures are checked evey week without fail. Any ideas anyone?????

Upgrade Clio 3 to add usb socket

I've got a 2011 Clio Sport Tourer GT-Line TomTom.



It has the factory fit stereo, bluetooth and TomTom Live.



It doesn't have the USB connector for iPods and playing music of memory sticks... and that's driving me mad.



Anyone know if it's addable? I've been chasing my tail for days on the internet trying to solve this.



The stereo I currently have has a pair of part numbers on it:

I'm not bothered if it's a box I need to add to the glovebox instead of replacing the aux connectors that it currently has by the cup holders on the center console, just so long as I can play music from a usb stick.



I'd really, really, really like this to be a fully integrated genuine renault part. Not some aftermarket that fakes being a six changer as well if possible.



Anyone know if such a unit can be added to that head unit, or how the multi function touchpoint's are plumbed in? I've seen a glove box unit (part number 77 11 426 075), but can't find out if that is compatible with my head unit, or, if it is, if it needs to use a connector that may already be being used for example by the TomTom.

Connecting into Trafic fusebox

Hi Troops,



OK, I'll start by coming clean, this isn't about a Trafic... It's about my 2011 Primastar, which as we all know is a Trafic with a different badge!



I'm planning to fit an additional 12Volt outlet in he dash where the curry hook is and I've read through the existing thread that's already on the forum on this several times.



I can also find my fusebox no problem as I've read about that in my owners manual and on a Vivaro forum.



My query is how do I actually connect into the fusebox?



I want to connect into one of the empty fuse points (Probably the one marked 12V which I'm told is usee for the 12Volt outlet fitted to crew cab models) and just run a short cable.



Can I get access by removing my glovebox, or do I have to undo the bolt holding the fuse board in place?



All ideas gratefully accepted.

Plastic sticker on megane

Could anyone tell me why there is a square plastic sticker to the lower body, each side just of my megane just in front of the rear wheels ? Can I remove this plastic as it has discoluoured.

hi i am interested in lighting underneath my car is this done with what are called led lights? are there different colours? they appear to be strips of lights like something you would use at christmas time. do i just go to a hardware store? can i buy them there? i might fork out for factory foglights as well as my megane appears to have had them but have evidently been removed.

Weird happenings/loss of power

Hello everyone,



Yesterday i took my 2005 scenic 1,5 dCi (78 Kw) on a small trip on the highway about 150 km. On the way there everything worked well, engine was pulling ok, cruise control working no problem whatsoever.

On the way back however it started doing something weird . I was cruising (manually) at about 130 when all of a sudden it was like i released the throttle(and the current consumption showed 0.0), i downshifted and everything went back to normal.I tried to set cruise control but it gave me the check cruise control message. Some times "electronic fault" appeared also during the phenomenon.After a couple more moments like this i thought about lifting the throttle and applying pressure again and it worked, everything goes back to normal.The engine is snappy and does not give any signs of ageing.

I checked the car with a diagnostics guy but not with a clip but a delphi system. It outlined df051 speed limiter/cruise control signal outside upper limits and df 127 brake switch circuit 1.

Is it possible for the cruise control to affect the car behavior even if it;s not active ? because the car behaves like i would gave turned the speed down on the cruise control and it engine brakes.

Clio mk3 rear suspension parts

Hey guys,



I recently discovered that my rear near side damper has failed after it banged a few time due to getting stuck so I need to replace them. I have read around that replacing the springs at the same time is a good idea too. Can anyone recommend a good set, springs and dampers, that is pretty much OEM standard (i.e. not sports)? I'm not looking for bargain basement, just good quality.

Motrio Car Battery

I had not used my 2005 Renault Clio car for many months and when trying to start it, it failed. I tried to charge the car battery with a mains charger specific for charging car batteries and it showed that the battery could not hold any charge.



I bought a Motrio Car Battery from my local dealer and disconnected the old battery and noticed that the old battery had a pipe for the exhaust gas from the battery to be safely removed. The new Motrio Battery does not seem to have a space for the pipe for the exhaust gas to be put in.



There is a rectangular indentation on the side of the Motrio car battery but when I tried to lever it open it seemed very tightly secure and I was not sure if it was meant to be opened.



I wish to know if the Motrio Car Batteries for Renault Clio's have a space for the exhaust pipe of battery gases to be funnelled out.

Boot Struts

Hi.



I have to replace the boot struts of our megane mark II 2005 model.



I purchased some new ones from europarts and removed one from the car to check it.



The size is correct although the end bits that push on to the ball joints are rotated slightly differently. Enough that they won't clip on.



Can they be rotated or are they going to have to replace?

Oil Condenser - 1.9dci

Can anyone say what exactly is inside the oil condenser bottle on the 1.9dci? Can I just soak the whole thing in diesel to clean it out?



I gather if it gets blocked, or the pipe from the bottom of it to the crank gets blocked, it will make the oil vapour go to the air inlet.

Cable return springs on rear brake calipers.

Hello ,and thank you for reading my post. My Renault Scenic 1.6 2002 failed its MOT today with the reason being. "Nearside and Offside cable return springs missing- brake caliper has restricted movement"



When i asked the man at the counter i was told it was a spring on the brake caliper? They said they could not get the part so i rang up Renaut parts and they seemed to not know what i was talking about?

Can any one tell me if there should be a return spring on the rear calipers? It seems most starnge that both are missing. If there should be on there, does anyone have any idea where replacements can be purchased? Thank you invance

Grand Scenic 04 1.9dci

So, I have inherited a Grand Scenic with a vast history of problems. This culminated in total engine destruction a couple of years ago - this was replaced along with a new turbo (fitted by Renault) - before my time but I know the previous owner.



Now, 2 years later a blue haze follows the car, so I assume oil being burnt. On investigation I have discovered oil in the intercooler (more than a smear) so I am going along the turbo route again. Having released the exhaust pipe from the cat, I found a fair amount (again more than a smear) of oil on the inside of the pipe.



Haven't yet got the turbo off the car as it's a real bitch to get at the cat mounting nuts, let alone the turbo itself.



Question, or opinions please, is it likely that a turbo with around 30000 miles on it, is on its way out? I can't be sure of the servicing regime so I guess it could be, but looking for some informed opinions while I wrestle the turbo off the car.



Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

1 x HT Lead has got a small chip in it. I can see the white netting (presumably for insulation) in the inner core of the wire. Should I replace?



If so, which brand is good to go for?



Car is 1.6 RXE Auto 1999. 37,000 on the clock.

What size sump pan bolts for 1.9d clio

I've got a small oil leak and want to check the sump pan bolts for tightness. A 7mm socket is too big and a 6mm socket is too small, so I'm baffled as to what size they are. Is there such a size as 6.5mm? Can anyone help?

Meganes Sport Coupe Noise At startup

when i start my megane from the passenger side at the front, under the windscreen area and above the glove box, I hear a whining noise with several thud like noises, as those something is trying to spin or kick in but getting stuck. After about 5 seconds the noise stops. When I stop engine and slam my door shut i hear a thud noise in the same area. What could this be. Someone said it might be heating.***65279;

Sluggish 1.9Dci

Hoping to find a little help on this forum about the Mrs 03 Scenic. Ive always thought its been a little slow ever since first ownership some 6 years ago! Now Ive been forced into driving it I'm fairly sure something is amiss. The car starts and drives ok, no fault lights or anything, its just gutless! Theres no torque in it. It almost feels normally aspirated.



So I set about checking it over suspecting maybe the boost pressure was low, however to my surprise its got good boost pressure. I now am suspecting perhaps theres not enough fuel getting in as even if you mash the throttle theres no visible black smoke at all. This Ive never seen before from a diesel.



Ive never touched the EGR valve, but had no reason to suspect it. Would an EGR valve fault cause these symtoms tho? I always thought it would be really obvious that it was running bad if that was faulty??



It had a new air flow meter some years ago but didnt make any performance change ( is it called that? the inline one behind the airbox).



Any thoughts/ideas? Anyone think my assumption is correct its not getting enough fuel? If soHow do it fix that??

Hi, new to this forum thing. Bought a Grand Scenic from a 'reputable' dealer 2 months ago. So far i had to get 3 new tyres, new back brakes, front seatbelt loom and sensor, rear seatbeat sensor, child saftey device sensor, new accelerator and last night was informed that it needed 2 new diff seals ........ was i sold a heap. Any suggestions? The garage informs me that they have to have the oportunity to fix these faults .....

scenic door/window problem

Our 55 reg Grand Scenic was recently bumped on the driver's side door whilst parked (thankyou to the *** that drove away!). I've managed to suck out most of the dent, but the window only winds down halfway now. I've removed the door card and can see that the glass and yellow plastic thingy is hitting a large black plastic part that sits between the window and the outer door skin. If I push this piece towards the door skin, the window will then wind down but it still scrapes on this black plastic part. I can't see what function this black plastic has and I wonder how I get it to move more towards the outer skin? I can't see that the remaining very small dent could be stopping it moving out of the way. Could it be removed without harming anything? Any advice much appreciated!

Laguna !! temp signal erratic

I have owned my 2004 Laguna !! 2.0 Expression for 6 years. For the first 4 years it gave no trouble but since then it has been plagued by an erratic temperature signal. The car has been checked over by two dealers and three other specialist workshops with no resolution but a lot of cost!



The temp gauge began to move steadily down from its usual position just below half to a quarter, even though it was obvious that the actual engine temp wasn't changing. It would then drift back up to normal sometimes. As time has gone on without a solution, the probability of normal operation has fallen from .95 to .05. On a cold morning (say 2 degrees C) the car is almost impossible to start, suggesting that the ECU is receiving an incorrectly high temp signal and sets the fuel/air mixture too lean. The temp sensor has been replaced, as has the thermostat; all the wiring connections have been checked several times; the car has been checked with the factory Clip diagnostic tool and at least two others with no fault signal showing up; and the instrument cluster has been removed and thoroughly checked. I don't have a wiring diagram for the car but it seems that the voltage output from the temp sensor (which I know is tracking correctly) goes to the ECU ( a Sagen in this car) and from there to the temp gauge. I suspect erratic behaviour of circuitry inside the ECU, but in Australia nobody knows enough about this ECU to test it.



Can anybody help? I love the car but if I can't fix this problem it's almost useless.

Misfiring Clio running rich on one cylinder

Help please. My 2002, 1.4, 16v Clio misfires at tick-over once hot, and sometimes when pulling up a hill unless I keep the revs up more than necessary pre-misfire. The misfire is not noticeable at cruising speeds, nor is there any noticeable drop in power when it isn't actually misfiring!



I believe the misfire relates to the engine running rich on cylinder 3 (numbering from gearbox). My rich running diagnosis comes from spark plug colour of dark, matt grey in cylinder 3 only. It is not oily or otherwise fouled in any way. The other three plugs are all a light tan colour.



I have tried the following. Swopped plugs, the rich running plug becomes light tan in its new cylinder while the plug substituted in cylinder 3 becomes dark grey. I have also swopped the coils and injectors from cylinder 3 to other cylinders. Nothing cures the misfire or moves the rich running from cylinder 3.



Could it be an ECU fault? Seems strange to affect only cylinder 3? Could it be injector wiring? I would have thought a wiring fault would tend to make the cylinder run weaker rather than richer by failing to open the injector? Could it be ignition wiring? A poor connection could presumably result in a poor spark? I do own a multimeter but am unsure how to check the ignition wiring with it. Any suggestions welcome.



FYI: I live in New Zealand where Renaults are scarce. I have not taken the car to our Renault dealer to check the fault codes or repair as 1) I have no faith in the dealer - asked to replace cambelt and water pump they said the water pump didn't need replacing; guess what failed within the week, and they then wanted to charge me more labour! 2) they charge like wounded bulls, over 100 pounds sterling for a single coil.

the underside of my Laguna 2 1.9 DCi estate, and is now hanging on by a cable that runs towards the rear load sensor, by the passenger side rear wheel It's a sensor of some sort, held onto the underside of the floor panel by two barbed lugs. Just about underneath the pillar between the doors. What is it??

Boot leak

Please help, this is my first time on a forum so please be kind!

I purchased an 08 plate renault grand scenic back in February and have a recurring leak in the boot that the garage can't seem to fix. So far I have had a new boot seal and they have found that there was a seal missing from the rear tail light which has now been replaced, but still after every rainfall the boot (under the rear fold away seats) fills with water. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this and how it can be fixed?

The problem is driving me nuts and exhausting my wallet!

I used to travel the boat train/boat bus route from Dublin to London.

This was in the "school years" for the most part."exotic trip" usually for contraband items such as .. fireworks,air guns and "gentlemens magazines".. all of which were illegal in Ireland at the time.



On one such very crowded boat/train trip. a buddy and myself managed to get 2 seats opposite a guy with a very bad foot odour problem.

There was a table between us and foot odour man for the trip from liverpool to london.Foot odour man commandeered the dual seat by sprawling across it.He also damn near cleared the seat opposite the table by removing his shoes and letting the air circulate around.



needs must..and we found ourselves opposite,trying to catch some sleep in between the athletes foot stench waves.

Just prior to arrival in London,while the passenger opposite was asleep and still emanating we used some BR shandy(from cans) to fill up his discarded for comfort n f everyone else footwear.

We moved far away towards the doors,but did hear satisfying howls of outrage.

Petty? perhaps,but on the next long train journey or similar some more thought about consideration for others may have occured.

Scenic door clip replacement

Hi - I am trying to replace the clips that hold the rear door handle rod into the locking/unlocking mechanism for a Megane Scenic RX4 2002. Without the rod in place, the door will not open from the outside.



These clips are little yellow plastic things and I have found a seller on the internet who supplies these, but is not contactable. Does anyone know the part number, or if I need the 3mm, 4mm or 5mm ones?

2000 1.9dci scenic engine management light wont go away

I've had my car for two months. About 5 days after buying it the engine management light come on briefly then went away. Only returning when going uphill (changing gear) and losing power slightly.

Two months on it got a lot worse. Would randomly cut out and then not start again unless it felt like it. Mostly cut out when changing gear but on occasion it would fail to start when cold. Got it to a garage and they said I needed a new ecu. That part was bought along with key fob and all the other bits and Bobs. Hey Presto it started first time and ran lovely.... For 5 days.... Then engine management light come back on. No cutting out as yet but took it to the garage who ran diagnostic and come up wth error codes p1826 p1814 and p1822.... Could anyone please shed a little light on those please??

Modus 1.4 16v not turning over

Evening all,

Been a long time since have posted in these waters, We have recently been gifted a 54 plate modus from the in-laws, has been looked after, full history and just had major service and timing chain done, this morning on the good lady leaving for work it didn't want to play ball, not turning over, setting the wipers off etc.

assumed it was the battery so jumped it form the other car, fired up fine, happy wife, off she went.

message from her when she got to work, wouldn't turn over when she got to the car park after she turned it off,

Popped in to pick her up and take her back to the car ad get it started, again on getting to the car, nothing, except wipers going and flashing display, pushed it out so could get mine on the battery side to jump it, hooked up and still Nothing, Except Wipers going,

told her to put it in gear and let the handbrake off, which she did, just she forgot to lift her foot of the clutch! - my fault i guess as i didn't tell her too! ;-) so tried again, this time in gear, clutch Up, rocked it a smidge, whilst connected to mine and turned over and fired up, Wipers going again! put multimeter on the terminals and showing 13-8 - 14.2 v across, so happy it is charging,

on getting home (9 miles) checked again and still displaying same charge numbers, little battery health indicator displaying the green dot, turn off, turn on again, and no turning over, just the Wipers!

so, checked the battery with everything off, displaying 12.2v, checked with ignition on position 2, dropped down to 8v then back up to 12.2v, checked a few times to make sure and every time was the same, so believe the battery is healthy,

now, i did the old trick of wire from the battery terminal to the starter to get it to fire, but, it wouldn't, didn't make a noise, only once in a dozen attempts did it do anything, and that time was the usual clicky struggling to engage sound, - after that, still no joy with a start, but the wipers are still good! ;-)



now, with all this, and a stressy wife as she's only had the car a fortnight and broken it, i gave up, would i be right in pointing the finger at the starter motor?? it seems as if its Trying to work but just cant?? don't really want to get one, fit it and have the same issue, especially as space and access is not the best on this one!



The other issue i have heard is that of a high pitch whine like noise, coming from in the engine bay somewhere, i'd guess, around the battery area, but difficult to pin point due to access, it does sound Similar to that of an injection system priming up, just one that doesn't stop! its not something i had noticed before, but this is the first time I've had the bonnet up on it since we have owned it!



Sorry for the Monstrous post but anything to stop the good lady moping that her new cars broken! ;-)

problem with sat nav and bluetooth

Hi, just joined today so apologies if I get this wrong!!

Have Megane Coupe dci 61 plate, both sat nav and bluetooth not working. Sat nav says no maps found, bluetooth won't connect to phone book. Been told new SD card (over £100) will resolve both issues, but reading forums I am wondering if this is actually the case or am I being fed a line?!

Any advice would be great

Megane II headlights

Hi guys,



First proper post so forgive me if I've posted in the wrong place.



I've been running my megane for about 2 weeks now and a couple of times ive been really disappointed by the brightness of the dipped beam headlights, the fogs are brighter!



Is this a common complaint with these or shall I just assume they're cheapo bulbs and replace them?
