Laguna 2

Hi, tonight whilst dark (typical) my n/s/r door decided that it no longer wants to close. I've taken the door card off and the cable that goes from the handle to the latch feels slack, the latch itself moves freely and feels like it's going to it's limits but isn't catching, Is this a simple fix or am I going to have to replace the whole mechanism?
