Hi guys, I'm new here so be kind.
I have a 2004 Megane II that has spent more time in the garage than it has on the road! I bought it four years ago from a dealer and so far had to replace the engine(brand new timing belt went) and have it rewired (boot wouldn't open and even Renault couldn't provide a quick fix). Those were only the big jobs, there were also sensors, window regulators etc.
A month ago, the emission light came on and the car was chugging when accelerating, while I was on the motorway with it at a constant speed - no issue. Limped it home to dear sainted Mechanic. When its on ticking over, it sounds a bit ropey but if its just idling and hasn't been driven it sounds like there is nothing wrong. Mechanic has replaced all the coils, the ignition something or other and the ECU. He says that he can't figure out whats going on - there originally was a fault on his computer saying engine misfire but now there is nothing. He has now taken to working through the evening trying to figure out whats going on. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Please don't recommend petrol and a match, I'm too financially and emotionally invested to take a joke.
