Hi everybody.
This is my first post after spending countless hours trawling the internet in search of information.
2 weeks ago I made the seemingly big mistake of buying my wife a Renault 1.5 dci. The car drives great once started but I am having a lot of trouble on some occasions getting the thing going.
Up to this point I have replaced the camshaft sensor and the coolant temp sensor. On diagnosis code P03040 (i think) was showing which point towards a camshaft sensor issue. This has been replaced but the code still comes up the same?? I changed the coolant temp sensor as the car starts from cold, although not as fast as it should do, it is a right pain to start though when warm. On most occasions from warm it is necessary to press the accelerator to get it going, it then will start after 3 or 4 attempts and produces a big cloud of smoke.... quite embarrassing!! I have also changed the glow plugs.
A lot of people seem to say that it could be the TDC Crankshaft sensor. I have purchased one of these but I think the one I have isnt for my engine. Looking on youtube tutorials etc people say its on the right hand side of the engine block below the thermostat and is a sensor with a plate attached that fixes with 2 bolts.. This is not the case on my engine, being a 2007 megane i wonder if the engine changed this year as i'm 100% certain the sensor is in a different location.
If anyone could please be of assistance in what they think could be the issue, or where the crank sensor is located then I will be eternally grateful...
Many thanks...
