usb/bluetooth music issue when charging phone

Hi

I can listen to spotify or an album when I connect via bluetooth through the stereo but when I plug it into the cars usb point to charge the phone it automatically defaults to the phone tracklist and i can no longer listen to spotify. Is there a way around this except to charge of the cars 12v point with an adapter.
