Hi all
I replaced cambelt and tensioner recently, and decided to replace the two oil seals at the same time (cam and crank).
I now have a horrible oil leak from the crank region. Each time I open up, it does not look like the oil comes from a leaky seal. The problem is that the pulleys splats the oil EVERYWHERE, so I cannot really narrow it down. The top cam seal is dry though.
When I look at the crank, where the ancillary belt pulley bolts to, It looks like there is a loose sleeve OVER the crank's end. The oil seal does not seal onto the crank itself, but over this loose sleeve. What does this loose sleeve do? It looks like it is kept in place by a big circlip.
Does anybody perhaps have a photo of the seal installed? Maybe I installed it to deep?
This is the only possible source of oil left. I will be fitting a new seal again this weekend. I took care not to damage the lip of the previous seal when I installed it.
Any tips perhaps? To me it is a straight simple job :-( I think the car is mad at me cause I sold it for a new Sandero...
