I've searched the forums and can find similar threads but none of them exactly reflect the issues i'm hoping some kind person can advise?
My son has just bought a clio as his first car, I picked it up for him when he was at work and noticed that there is a supercharger sounding whine when you press the accelerator. WHen the car is idling there is no noise although the car does seem to idle as quite low revs (is 500 rpm normal idling speed?)
When you press the accelerator, even when its in neutral, it sounds like there is a supercharger fitted or you have a fly in the car and whilst i wish the first were true i know both aren't!!!
Can anyone advise? He saved very hard for the car and i'm hoping its not a gearbox issue?
