Laguna II 1.9 Sport Privilege Estate.
The rear passenger window went up and down of its own accord then stopped 3 inches open. It wouldnt respond to the buttons, with no sound of the motor turning. I took the door card off to see if there was any way the window could be raised manually, managed to do this by splitting the gearbox, turning the worm gear and re-meshing it with the window nearly closed. Its touch and go how closed you can get it as there are only three splines ( 120 degrees apart) when you re-assemble it, but its now only about 2mm open. Its a six pin connector fitted into a plastic module piggy-backed on top of the motor . If you unclip the module it is then a two pin connector to the motor. I assume this module takes care of the comfort (one touch) facility. So, where is the problem? I put a meter on the 6 pin connector, found a ground, permanent +12V, but nothing else irrespective of what buttons were pressed. Ignition on/ off made no difference, but I checked that the other rear window would move so I wasnt fooling myself. Does the window control go through the computer? Is there anything else that affects the operation? Should I see 12v on some of the other wires depending on what button is pressed, or is there just some sort of comms link from the computer into the piggy-back module? Is there any intelligence in the motor itself, or are the two pins just + and -, reversing the polarity changes the motor direction. I dont want to buy a new unit yet, as I dont know what I need. Anyone got any thoughts?
