electronic handbrake wont disengage

I have a 2004 Renault megane scenic piece of ****.

tried to go to work this morning and when I started the engine came up parking brake fault and my handbrake will not release have looked through the forums on here and nothing so far has worked or even seemed valid

any idea as to what the problem may be
