Starting issue with my Scenic 1.5DCi

Newbie post here.....

I've had a look and whilst I can similar problems none are the same.

About 12 months ago I had a starting issue with my Scenic 1.5DCi, the mechanic I took it to replaced the EGR, the rail followed by the injectors and eventually my car ran sweet for about 6 months or so.... Until it started losing power and oil by the litre which was blowing out of the exhaust in clouds of blue smoke but only after I'd lifted off the accelerator to slow and the accelerated again.

Recently it's had a starting issue but usually fired on 2nd or 3rd crank. As I felt cheated by the previous I took it to a mechanic who looks after the local taxis firms cars. He found an EGR fault and reset the adaptives, no problem mmost of the power is back and far less blue smoke although I still get a puff occasionally when I lift off and the reapply the accelerator. No oil puffs on start up or any other time that I've noticed.

My main issue is that after the fuel pressure sensor on the pump was replaced as that was showing as faulty, the starting issue remains despite the fuel pressure being ok at idle and when we took it for a spin. There is no pattern of when it won't start, it sometimes just won't start except with a squirt of help.

Any ideas would be most welcome as we can't get it to replicate when we need it to on the diagnosis machine, I think that's called sods law.
