towbar wiring trailer warning light laguna II

Just spent the afternoon fitting a towbar to my Laguna II sports tourer phase I. next job on list is to wire in the 12N trailer socket. Now have got conflicting advise, as in some say you need a warning buzzer or light for the indicators and others say you don't. so, do you or don't you? also has anyone managed to wire up the trailer warning light on the dashpod? the owners handbook says it's not used and before I remove the dashpod to see if there is a connection on it for the light, want to know if anyone has got a pod out to see or if they have wired it up.
