Hello! I really need some advice on a problem with my 05 scenic authentique 1.4
First I just want to say I know next to nothing about cars so I apologise if I come across as badly!
A couple of days ago the car started to over rev when idle – after coming to a stop the car would rev to over 3000 drop down to about 1500 then go back up and sit at about 2500. We had just got home so thought we'd leave it and see if it did it again the next day.
Car was fine to begin with yesterday but a few miles down the road it started doing it again. We decided to pull over and call RAC as we had no idea if car was safe to drive and we had kids with us.
RAC guy hooked car up to computer thing and it produced two error codes:
0530 Refrigerant sensor circuit voltage outside tolerance limits
0110 Air temperature sensor circuit valve outside tolerances.
He told us car was safe to get us home but this is a garage job and said that it may require some rewiring – he couldn't really give us any more information but handed us a business card for a friends garage.
I guess I just want to know if there is anything really basic that we can check before giving it to a garage (as we have no money!) and if this is definitely something a garage needs to deal with what to expect/ask.
