2003 1.4 megane (Back to square one!!!)

So my son decided to go for a drive yesterday seeing as we thought we had fixed the major problems of stuttering and loss of power.

He managed to get about 3 miles away from home and the car started doing kangaroo jumps again and when he tried to rev it it wouldn't rev above 1000rpm and when he took his foot off the gas the rpm dropped to 300.

so i went to pick him up, and we left the car for about 3 hours, on going back we changed the temp sensor and MAP sensor in the hope it could be either of these, the car wouldn't start via the start button so we bumped it, it fired up and he set off home, he again traveled about 2 miles before the kangaroo jumps and loss of power started again.

So we turned engine off again and bumped it, off it went for another half a mile without probs, with the revs dropping to 300 rpm i said turn engine off and try and start it...he did and the car fired up via start button, another half a mile later he had stopped again, with the car now stopping and starting via the button we didnt have to bump it anymore but each time he was only able to travel maybe 50 yards before losing power, so he called it a day and parked it up for the night.

i took him home, and after he had recovered from spitting the dummy out we agreed to leave it a few days before throwing more cash at it trying to solve the problems.

Some one told him today that its could be the throttle sensor (no idea where to look for this) or water ingress into the ECU because apparentl the clips hold the wiring into the ECU is fragile and break easily so moisture can get into the wiring

I seriously need help and advice on this as im by no means a rich man and this car is turning into a bottomless money pit!!!
