Hi - new to the forum but had to post as the problem above presents a frustration in that current explanations don,t make sense.
The check airbag message came on all of a sudden last week when starting the car. Before this happens upon opening the car there is a message saying the steering wheel is not locked, usually it locks and unlocks automatically with the card being put in the ignition.
I have also noticed that the auto door locks do not engage when travelling. I have checked this option is still ticked in the menu.
The car has been on the computer at my mechanics and a garage specialising in Renaults and the fault being returned is regarding the airbag control module.
I have been told that worst case scenario is this means a return to Renault for the new part as it needs to be coded and only they can do it. Their estimated was that this will be costly so before I opt for this I wanted to source a second opinion. They say they have checked all the wiring and connection and cannot find a loose connection or other common fault.
