Low Temperature on brand new 2014 Megane 1.5dci

Hi all,

We've recently picked up a new Megane 1.5dCI to replace our aging (and somewhat ailing) 2006 Laguna. We love the new car and it's nice to have a car that doesn't have the issues that the old one had...

Well, almost :(

I've noticed that the water temperature seems to barely rise above the first block and, quite often, the auto-stop function reports as "disabled", presumably because it considers that the engine has yet to warm up. An example of this can be seen here:

In this case, the car had been driven for around 20 minutes in external temperatures of around +3C - I would expect any car to be up to temperature by this time. As another note, the fuel consumption seems higher (i.e. lower MPG) than I would expect for this engine and it wouldn't surprise me at all if both were related.

Now, obviously, I'm not going to try to fix this myself on a brand new car, but it would be nice to see if anyone here can confirm if this is normal behaviour for this engine or if, as I suspect, we might be looking at a sticky thermostat. I've not bothered to call Renault yet as I already know that they'll want to "book it in so they can take a look", which is a bit of an inconvenience for me unless there's a real problem to sort.

Can anyone give some expert opinion before I call it in?

Thanks,

Daern
