Megane noisy belt or pulley

Hi to all, thanks in advance for any help . I have a megane 07 petrol with a very noisy belt or pulley at 3 thousand revs or more. It's more apparent when foot comes off the gas sounds like a loud food blender something metal spinning.

I also think that the car cutting out at odd times in morning when cold is related also weak power till warmed up.



I've been told Tdc timing sensor to which I agree but I'm certain as well that the belt or pulley system has a problem.

Scenic Auto dipped-beam headlights

I have just bought a Renault Scenic Dynamique TomTom 64 plate. On my Vehicle settings customisation menu I have ticked the "Auto dipped-beam headlights" option. Nowhere else is this phrase to be found verbatim. The only other option I can see mentioned in the handbook is the "Automatic main beam headlights", is this the same thing? When I asked the dealer about them he said it was automatic adjustment of the dipped headlights under different load conditions in the back of the car and the boot which I'm doubting! Can anyone tell me which of the features does "Auto dipped-beam headlights" actually refer to? The vehicle has automatic headlights, but those are controlled by the lighting stalk.

scenic dti (99) not running / starting

i have brought a non running 99 scenic dti, so no idea how the problem happened or have any history of the car.



there is no power to the glow plugs or the diesel pump.



the flashing immobiliser light goes off so i think this means it is working.



the glow plug light doesn't come on at all though.



i have removed and cleaned the earth at the from of the engine but made no difference.



i'm thinking wiring or possibly ecu.



i have checked all the fuses and they are all ok. i have checked for power at the inertia switch and have power in and out.



i haven't got a wiring diagram so am a bit stuffed. i'm thinking i need to look at testing the power at the engine relay and the ecu after that.



anyone know what relay is the engine relay? and what voltage i should have at what terminals?



i may also need help with pin data for the ecu if the relay checks out ok.



i have the the bosch 15.5 system (the glow plug has 9 terminals) that is used for the f9q 731 or f9q 736.

EGR Valve 2005 megane 1.5dci

Hi All hope someone can help.....

Im getting a fault injection light on when i get to between 2500/3000 rpm. It goes off again after a couple of seconds. Had it scanned yesterday and egr fault showed up. I removed the egr valve today and it was pretty well sooted up so i gave it a good clean and it looked like new again. Re-installed it and took it for a spin but no joy warning light still showing up so I take it that I have a faulty egr valve. Is there a way to test the valve before I order a new one or is there anything noticeable that I should be looking at.

Starter motor Fiasco

02 Petrol RX4

Just paid a bill to a local garage for & discounted to £506.64 this was for a new starter motor Lucas £92 an Air filter £5.20, plus new lead from the starter to the battery as apparently when the starter fails the lead is burnt out, The Labour was approximately 12.83 hours @ £429.17 discounted to £325.



Nearly all of the labour was access and consequent refit & this really shouldn't be the case unless idiots or computers or both are involved in the design and manufacturing process.



In an ideal engineering world I would have expected to do the job myself or paid a garage £175 tops.



The starter motor is up round the back of the engine but once loosened cannot be removed from the vehicle had to remove the exhaust manifold, air ducting, air filter, throttle body and plenum chamber & work in spaces under conditions that would challenge a contortionist.



They stated the design was the worst had come across for access to peripheral parts and consequent servicing.



It really concerns me, (understatement), that major car manufacturer's design and build stuff in such a way, they seem to give little thought at best to servicing ease and practicality and I am writing to Renault in France to see whether they can explain the Raison d'etre for their vehicle construction process.





Incidentally it looked like the air filter hadn't been changed for 5 years of more! On the old Renaults this was a five minute job.



My warranty is 1 year on the starter but the garage will not refit the motor for free, if the unit fails, but will aid in me getting compensation from the starter manufacturer if this happens.



Two years ago exactly the Rover 400 had a new, multi-layered head gasket fitted, ( again a design boo-boo),water pump, thermostat oil filter & change e.t.c 101/2 hours labour total bill £542.22, but this was a major operation, not a starter motor replacement & refit.



Scrap yards are now full of showroom condition vehicles & Renault reputation from 1998 for electrical faults and engineering hamfisted-ness seems to legendary in the motor trade.



Sustainability, yeah right and 20% Vat just adds salt to the wound!



Cars have been manufactured for 130 years plus, by now you would think they would be few failures and no design errors of consequence.



If manufacturers do not give a toss for customers, let it be known and let them gaily go to their extinction sooner rather than later. Has this come about as the female world is now heavily involved in car purchases and therefore less male orientated values/needs are factored into the design process.





I still haven't changed the belts and a CV joint is starting to make a noise.



The car styling is appealing and its roomy inside, but.....

2012 renault trafic. No engine coolant temperature display on dash?

Hi,

Just replaced my 2007 trafic with a 2012 model.

Cannot see any indication of engine temperature on dash display. From what I gather from hand book( no picture) it should be on the main display but nothing.

Is this a fault or am I missing something?

renault scenic 2005 1.5 dci injection fault

hey lads i have a 2005 renault scenic 1.5dci i was coming home and the car just stoped it came up injection fault and will not start since i got the car plugged in its saying low fuel pressure but on live data its showing fuel pressure at 1156 ...?????? any tips or solutions lads

megane mk2 read discs removal :-(

hi all just tried to remove the rear discs on my megane mk2 but shes fighting back .i cant get the bloody brake carrior of to romove the disc .got the pads off and thats it i even have the E16 socket and its just rounded off both bolts .so there gona need cutting of now :forehead: i couldent even be botherd to try the other side .so what should be a 45 min job turned out to be a right nightmare ...does any one no what size bolts i will need after i have cut them off as i will not be using the same bolts on the other side even i can remove them ok

Laguna ii A/C Unit stays lit up constantly?

Hi there, ive read through some of the articles on the forum but all i found was if there was a problem with no light atall, my problem is the other way around, as soon as i put the key card in, the heater screen illuminates even though the heater is turned off, ive tried turning the lights on but it doesnt dim or anything, i did the 101 re solder and hasnt done anything, im new to the laguna so any help would be great as i cant see the backlight constantly on been normal?

Espace misfire when cold

Hi

My 2000 petrol Espace was running fine until left unused for 2 weeks. Now it starts fine but starts to misfire once driving. This occurs in the morning after it has been stood outside overnight but is generally okay later in the day. The only thing I have noticed is that the engine runs smoothly once the outside temperature gets to 7 degrees or above. Below that the misfire gets worse the colder it is. Any ideas?

Trouble starting from cold, p0670 error

hi guys, got a clio1.5 dci 55 plate, past few weeks its got really hard to start from cold, turning over for like 7-8 seconds before it usually starts on a morning, once its warm it starts perfectly after that. I noticed what i think was a misfire on idling after starting the other day, this went away soon as the engine was warmed up also.Drives as normal other than that. So i bunged on one of those cheap odb diagnostic things and got the error p0670 glowplug control module. You think glow plugs need replacing? If so is a longer than usual socket needed? (sure i heard that somewehere??)

I am new to this forum and I need some some help with I problem I have created.

This morning I removed the battery from the car and managed to lock the keys in the car. I have had to get a locksmith to open the car to get the keys but now the car is dead apart from a flashing red light on the dash and a bleeping noise under the bonnet. The key card will not work and nothing works inside the car.

Do I need to reset anything since I removed the battery.



Please help my wife is not happy that I have broke her car.

what engine and will this fit 1.4 8v

Hi guys here to pick ur brains.... bought the mrs a w reg clio mk2 ph1 a while back, done a couple of small mods to it to smarten it up a bit for her flush front bumper, 182 rear bumper, colour coded 16v door strips and lowered it. Spent more on these small bits than I paid for the car. Now I see why. The car was parked up for a couple months as she hadn't yet passed her test. I decided to use it for while but soon after it started showing signs of low oil pressure with the oil light flashing during tickover or low revs and before I knew it the bottom end was nackered. Ive decided to replace the engine with a second hand unit but am a. Unsure what my engine is exactly e.g I think it an e7j634 but could do with clarification....and also im no expert on clio engines the biggest job ive done is revalve my sisters 1.2 8v head after har cambelt snapped......



B. If my engine is an e7j634 would I be able to replace it with an e7j757 from an auto and use the flywheel gearbox etc from the knackered engine

timing belt change

Soo I'm over due my timing belt change, very over due in fact!! Lots of quotes off garage ranging from 360-500.....now I can pick up a gates kit for around 50-70, but the last garage I went to had wrote down auxillary belt? I have a 1.5 dci 07 plate megane, if someone can label all the parts I need as I'm sure it will be cheaper to just buy and get them fitted....also how long is the labour, some said 3 others 5 :/

factory sat nav no speed reading and reverse camera hookup

Hi all just picked up my new to me 2012 LWB trafic and it has factory sat nav



I have 2 questions

First can I connect a reversing camera to the satnav screen its a factory tom tom unit I think its called a carminat



Second question is it possible to have the speed come up on the sat nav like in my portable sat nav



I drive 4800K,s a month most of these K,s one go and like to do the speed limit everywhere



I had read on the tom tom forum about this question but no one seems to answer that question on that forum so thought it a waste of time to register to get no answer

Annoying misfire on Cylinder 4...Car shakes badly at idle

Hi all,



I have read all over the forum looking for a solution and tried most things regarding a Cylinder 4 Misfire which I assume is causing is violent shaking & engine light sometimes solid, sometimes flashing - on my brothers 2004 Megane II 1.6 petrol. I will outline what I have tried below:



Looking at the engine standing at the bonnet, I have assumed Cylinder 1 is the nearest to drivers side (left side when facing into the engine front on) and 4 nearest to the Passenger side (right side when facing engine front on) as they must have been previously worked on as there is 1 dot on the first one and 4 dots on the 4th one - Thinking of it now, Is this assumption correct because if not I could have been looking at the wrong cylinder all along!.. if so, please read on!



The megane shows fault code p0304 and p0300 which are Misfire on Cylinder 4 detected and Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected. I assume the second one (p0300) is because they work in pairs. (? :confused:)



I understand the most common cause of this is an ignition coil, however he is a bit skint so I am trying to avoid buying parts we don't have to, I have tested them in other ways however.. pleaseread on.



I have tested the resistance of all coils with mutltimeter and they all are all within the ranges specified in a Megane service handbook I found online.



It was also desperately needing a service (thought this might fix the juddering at idle) So I changed all spark plugs, air filter, cabin filter, cleaned throttle body to an almost mirror like finish.



After this didn't rectify the problem, I started swapping the coils, 3 with 4 and others, as I understand they work in pairs, with no luck. The same fault, with engine light on sometimes solid, sometimes flashing.



I had an idea it could be a vacuum leak, so started blasting some WD40 all around the intake manifold but didn't hear the engine burning any of it up or see it being sucked in at the sides.



I then unplugged the fuel injector on Cylinder 4 which almost cut the car out, so I am pretty sure the fuel injector on cylinder 4 is working as it should.



I am kind of stumped now and can't find anything else to check, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction and help us out, it is not fun spending hours rolling round in the cold with no solution!

I have all the tools but I am a VW Nut and not worked on renaults before so all the knowledge I do have on them is from this forum, but now i'm stuck! I have an Elm327 ODB2 cable and a generic odb2 reader and lots of tools to help =)

Clio mk2 heater/cooler not working

Yet another problem developed this evening. Was driving with the heater on at 4 & it just stopped, it won't work on hot or cold or any heat settings apart from 1 that is, even so it is extremely weak that you wouldn't notice unless your hands are covering the vent. Any ideas what to do? Any help, again would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ;)

kangoo indicators blinkers turn signal not working

I have a Kangoo 16v kar and both turn signals do not work.

It started with a strange sound when using the turn signal, then nothing, no lights blinking on left or right side and nothing on the dashboard. The hazardlights work fine.

I bought a new relay flasher unit, a big block with 4 pins. I put this new one in but it does not change a thing. Nothing working.

I took the steering unit apart enough to pry out the indicator poke and opened this and cleaned and sanded all the metal parts and reassembled the unit again. Nothing. No blinkers.

I see there is a pin unit that is attached to the unit and this has 2 rows of pins. I could measure in between this and the relay flasher block unit but do not know how?

Which of the pin sockets is related to the blinkers and which pin socket in the relay flasher unit should I connect to the meter? I can measure the resistance in ohm to see if the wire is broken but do not want to break more on the old kangoo.

Scenic pencil coils

Yr. 2000 1.4 Scenic.



Wife rang me today, Scenic is 'juddering'! Got home tonight, engine missing, pulled the coils off and one of them is very wet so I think I've found the culprit.



The last time it happened about 5 years ago I replaced the offending coil but i was wondering if they can be successfully dried out?



I've got it sitting next to my wood burner at the moment and I've removed the top cap and taken the rubber bit off the bottom.



I'll stick some new plugs in before I put them back on which is a job that always terrifies me on this car as they are so deep into the head!!!

System Breaking Fault

We have the garage to replace new brakes in the front and in the back with brake disc, and blocks

And new Brake fluid



Now after 8 days, IT pops again " System breaking fault "



Brake fluid is OK, half full



What now.

Kangoo 1.5 DCI - EGR Valve continuously beeping?

Hi each and all. hoping someone can advise on this one



Replaced the engine in my Kangoo Van 1.5 DCI

Starts without the EGR Valve plug connected

but only for about 5 seconds then stalls and will not restart

when i connect the EGR Valve it just continuously beebs and wont start.



My exhaust is not fully connected * Cat Is ), nor is my Radiator, intercoole, but all the pipes are, I cant see it been because of the radiator etc etc, and I know the Beeping from the EGR Valve is telling me something, I am just not sure what, any one have any ideas?

1st and 2nd gear wrong way round

my brother has just bought a 1.2 16v mk2 phase 2 clio,



i'll be honest its a ****ter, body wise its alright and it has a long mot on it, and does drive ok tbh, its done 145k miles it has no history or anything etc



he paid £300 for it, you get the idea....



any way, he say that when he puts it in 1st gear it is actually 2nd gear, and 2nd gear is first gear.



he has come to this conclusion as he can pull away easy and quickly when he selects 2nd instead of 1st and vice versa.



its this even possible? i have looked in the haynes manual and as far as i can tell it isnt possible.



i am wondering if it actually has the wrong gearbox in the car.



does anyone know what gearbox code should be in it, and where is the gearbox code located?

I have an issue with the Engine hunting on the above vehicle This is a 1.9 DCI 2003 probably a II but not sure as don't have logbook to hand The problem does not affect the performance or cause the vehicle to stall. its just noticeable the revs rise and lower on tick over ! Nor does it trip any engine management lights. I should say this is an Auto ! Any possible causes and remedies would be appreciated !:crazy::confused:

Header/expansion tank overflowing with black coolan..

Hi there I've got a niggling little problem with my Laguna.. Just gone out to it to day to top washer bottle up ( as the misses had drained it) I've noticed that the coolant in the header/expansion tank has gone from blue colour to black plus with the engine running the header/expansion was slowly filling up to the point of overflowing.

Would someone shed some light on this as I'm think it could be one of few things ie radiator,thermostat,water pump ect ect.

Hi, the reverse light on the car hasn't worked since I've owned it, and have read it could be the switch, which I sent hubby out to get. Only thing is, he now has it, and there's nowhere for it to go (I watched a clip on youtube thinking they would all be in similar place, front n/s wheel area). Any help?

my ignition has become sticking and sometimes the key wont go in ive bought a brand new genuine Renault ignition barrel, 2 key blades and door lock the problem iam having is ive stripped everything out to the ignition barrel and i cant seem to remove the pin holding in the barrel ive hit it from the opposite side on the bottom pit with a punch and hammer it wont budge the pit out from the top ive put the ignition on different positions which i know wont really matter but it just doesn't budge at all



Any ideas anybody will be much appreciated

Megane Scenic 1.9 2005 starts only with primer bulb

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with my Scenic Megane. I have checked the fuel lines, replaced the primer bulb and the filter but nothing.



If I keep pumping the primer bulb the engine starts and runs, if I stop pumping the engine stops.



It looks like the HP pump is not sucking the fuel. Can you please help me with this??.. What could be the problem and how to fix it??..



Is it the high pressure pump??.

Door ajar light Clio 2 ph 1 (1999)

Hello, my name's Eric and I'm from the Netherlands. Unfortunately the Dutch forums can't help me out so I'm trying my luck here.



When my car rolled out the factory it didn't have a standard radio thus also no central display. A few months ago, I fitted an original radio and a central display with the seat belt light and door ajar light next to it.

I thought it would be a simple job wiring it but I'm having trouble with the door ajar light. Out of the plug of those 2 lights come 3 wires: a yellow one for some sort of power, I connected this one to a ACC wire. A white one for the seat belt, I connected this one on the original orange wire from under the seat. And a green wire for the door, I connected this to the green wire coming from the door sensor behind the B pillar.



Although the seat belt and door ajar light work the way they should, my interior light won't turn off now anymore unless I do it manually. Also, when my doors are closed and the key is out and I put my lights on, the buzzer sounds. So the car somehow thinks a door is open even though it's not.



Also, if I keep my interior light on the middle setting (so it should go on when doors open and off after a few seconds when closed) and I turn off my car, the interior light instantly turns on. When it's on and I start my car, it behaves exactly how it should.



Note, my car doesn't have an UCH yet so that MAY simplify things. The original central locking is broken so I'm using an aftermarket kit to lock and unlock my car.

Heating and cooling laguna MKII

Hi Friends, wasn't away long before I'm back for more help and info. Just had my laguna brakes, discs and pads front and back done, a service for the winter and I had the tracking sorted only yesterday, All this was ready for the winter and it was driving like a dream. I pulled into Flint North Wales Mcdonalds car park last night and smashed the front end into a massive curb that apparently should have a bin on it and the head lamp above that's supposed to light the car park up was out causing very poor visibiltie.

After getting witness details , took photos and exchanged details with Manager of mcdonalds and then drove home, on the way home to Chester my heater was on zero and all of a sudden came on full blast with a gas like smell and white smoke coming out of the dash where the key thob goes. It's still dark and I really wont know what the damage is until early morning. Does anybody think I've smashed my inter-cooler, radiator or heater matrix when I smashed into the big curb in the car park? Any help or info would be great and probably save me time trying to diagnose it myself being a novice I prefer to ask the pro's for some help and then learn from the advice. Anyhow friends of the Renault forum any help as you all know will be much appreciated. I need my Laguna fixing ASAP so I can see my son at weekends as he lives 35 miles away from me and the Laguna is our life line. Thanks again friends.:mad::(

Just having a look on eBay, a few Megane MK3 GT Bumpers for sale, I like the look of them, would if fit on my standard 5 door Megane, trying to style it to look a little more sleek!

Espace IV Sun Bling / Roof

Hi,



I have a 2006 Grand Espace IV with panoramic roof, the Sun Bling is stopped half open. The sunroof also does not operate.It has been this way since we bough it a few months back.



I've tried the reset sequence and it's not done anything. There is no sound at all when I try to operate any of the roof functions from the control panel.



Is there a fuse or realy that I should check to see if this might be the issue?



Where can I access the motor for the roof so I can try bypas the control and power them directly from a power pack to see if they are the issue.



Id it possible / likely the it is the control panel that is faulty?

Check injection check emmisions

I have a 2005 scenic 1.9 diesel . It's only done 90k kms . But it is displaying check injection at first now check emmisions & rattles abit when I start it . Have already been ripped off by 2 people saying they fixed it . At my wits end now ;(

Renault scenic ii 2004 1.6 16v dynamique

Hi guys,



Hoping someone might be able to shed some light/ help me fix the Scenic I just bought....



When started from cold the car will instantly cut out (engine starts then immediately stalls) if you give it some revs for a few seconds when you start it it will idle normally. Once the engine is warm, it starts fine!?!?! It also feels slightly lumpy on idling warm or cold but otherwise drives fine. (No warning lights on dash etc)



The other issue is that whilst idling & driving there is a squeak/chirping-like noise coming from under the bonnet that is continuous regardless of distance travelled. Sounds like it could be a loose belt & is coming from the alternator side of the engine. The alternator looks new & we were told "it's not that old" :confused: and last month it had a new cam & aux belt fitted.



Was going to do a major service, including coil packs in the hope of sorting the cold start issue??



Anyone had any experience of these issues either independently or together? If so what fixed it? Or care to make an educated guess??

2009 megane 1.5dci cold start problem

Hi all, I have a 2009 1.5 dci megane with 65k on the clock, recently the warnings 'check injection and check anti-pollution systems' came up on my dash along with the cruise control and speed limiter going off. This happened when I first got the car nearly 3 years ago and was diagnosed as the boost pressure sensor kicking in as a safety precaution due to over revving of the engine (I was told).

As I couldn't get to a garage because of work for a few weeks and the fact it drove no differently, I thought nothing of it.

A week ago on starting the car from cold the engine sounded like a bag of hammers and was juddering when idling. I also noticed that as I started driving the temp gauge took about 7/8 miles to get up to normal operating temperature. After this the car drove as normal.

I managed to get the boost pressure sensor code wiped clean eventually, sorting the cruise and limiter out and getting rid of the warning s on the dash but the rough starting is still there.

Has anyone had this problem or knows what it could be? I've heard a coolant temperature sensor mentioned but don't know for sure, thanks.

Am I to blame the rain??

Seem to be having a few issues with my lovely Scenic II, I must add not all due to the rain but the couple that may be are.......I have the drivers and one rear window not working and now I can't start the car as the immobiliser wont go off, it just continues to flash. I have mentioned on here before about being able to hear water sloshing about and I have also seen drops in the passenger foot well on one occasion and when I last hovered her the hoover was wet inside too.



I will mention I have recently replaced the battery in my key but its been fine for a couple of days since both keyless and normal too.



Any help on getting it started again please??

Thoughts on Scenic 4x4

Anyone have any thoughts on the Scenic 4x4 as I am interested in getting one.

The road tax does not bother me as I get it free with my DLA.

I also like the side hung rear door, easier for me to open and close than the normal up tail gate.

What are the tyre regulations for it as some 4x4's have special requirements when changing tyres.

Petrol would be my preferred option as it would only be doing a short mileage daily with a couple of 10 mile trips at weekends.

Any thoughts, recommendations, warnings would be greatly appreciated.

Is mileage information stored in the Kangoo dashboard cluster?

I need to replace the dashboard cluster on our Kangoo. No problem, I have the part number and there are plenty on eBay. But; some sellers state the mileage of the dash cluster they're selling as if it's stored in the cluster!



Can this be true? That the car's mileage is stored in the dashboard instrument cluster? It's a 10 minute job to replace so anyone less scrupulous could simply buy a lower mileage unit and swap it into their vehicle to lower the mileage.



Basically I'm asking the question to decide whether or not I need to buy an instrument cluster as close to my own mileage as possible (if the cluster holds the mileage). If the data is actually stored in the ECU / EMU or somewhere else then I'll just buy any unit and my mileage will presumably be read by the cluster from the EMU or wherever it's kept.

I have a problem with my clio III 2009. The air bag and spanner lights came on after working on my clio. I popped the plastic surround to look at the arm that controls the windscreen wipers/radio and removed some fuses to try and fix a fault with the window washer. When I eventually got it working, the airbag light was on. Is there a way to reset it

Megane Scenic II, 1.5dci, P0033 Error Code

Hello, First post here, never had to search for these things before but I've now joined and browsed this excellent forum facility I never knew existed - I'll be passing it on to others with Renaults now I know! Great facility and great to have so many people with knowledge and experience to help others. Well, I'm sorry, I need help for my first post please.



I've a 1.5dci 100hp 54 plate Megane Scenic II. The symptoms are, put foot down when driving and turbo spins up fine, but it really lacks power. It crawls, and I mean crawls, up to around 3500 rpm where it seems to perk up a little bit, but not as quick as it should be. Occasionally, at high revs, the check injection warning appears on the dashboard and stays until the engine is shut down. The engine always has this serious lack of power symptom, regardless of whether the check injection warning is on the dash or not. It is also a little lumpy, not much, just a little, on tick over.



I have had this plugged into a friends machine who has a laptop and software which indicates that the inlet manifold pressure is OK. At idle it's a whisker under 1000mb, when accelerating it increases, I saw around 1500mb on the laptop screen so that sensor and the turbo pressure look fine.



The computer also identified the fault code P0033 - Turbocharging Solenoid Valve Control Circuit At Minimum Limit.



My friend has said this could be a lot of time to find the fault and suggested that I look online for help as, like many people these days, I'm skint and if I can receive some help or pointers allowing me to have a go at this myself, I'd be delighted. I used to fix my old Pug XUD engine when it needed attention with no probs, but there were no computers on it :-) The computerised side of this has me flummoxed and with a car that is pretty much undriveable as the speed/acceleration is so slow that it musty only be a matter of time before someone clobbers me - aargh.



So, I'm hoping someone has seen the same issue or can offer any help, advice or insight as to the best thing(s) I can try would be. I'm guessing the EGR isn't involved as there was no mention of that anywhere.



The car also flagged two other things: P0380 Preheating unit diagnostic connection and P0530 Coolant Fluid Sensor Circuit Short Circuit To Earth, but he reckons these are unconnected as they wouldn't cause the symptoms I'm experiencing.



Please can anyone help, I'd be really grateful. I have this weekend set aside to have a look so fingers crossed.

After some years away from the Renault badge (after owning a Laguna sports tourer some years ago) I happened to be driving past Arnold Clark and spotted a shiny pearlescent white something.



That shiny pearlescent white thing is now a 2012 Megane Coupe Monaco GP with 17000 miles on the clock and is now mine. Have to say it's a gorgeous looking car and drives perfectly. So just a quick hello as I'm sure there will be plenty of questions coming up with regards to the low volume on the stereo etc :d

Hi All

I am changing, Cambelt, Water pump, Dephaser Pulley, Aux Belt at weekend. Also have an oil leak from cambox so will be removing that also. (Both parts of the cams)

Have all the locking tools but do require torque settings for it all.

Megane II 1.6 16V - Stalls when cold!

Hi



Only just got my Megane and love it, however it has just developed the rather annoying problem. When cold it keeps stalling! When it's been running a few minutes or starts when hot it's fine.



Reading around seems to suggest the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor (ECT), but other threads say the Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS). They're not the same thing are they?



I would really appreciate it if someone could clarify what the problem may be (perhaps neither of those!!).



Also, where are they? Mooching around the engine I see what are 4 likely sensor locations which I believe to be:



A - TDC

B - ECU

C - CTS

D - No idea!



Are any of these correct?

hi all on the on board computer in our renault clio senic shows Particle filter and then goes to fuel injection have drove the car at high speed for over an hour thing didnt clean thats when the fuel injection warning came up was in garage and they said that we mus send the partical filter away to be cleaned can this be true can anyone please help :confused:

Starting when cold there is a top end knocking but as soon as the throttle is blipped it disappears totally and engine runs a sweet as nut. Any ideas?

ESP and Check Anti Pollution.

At leasts every month or two I get the warning "ESP and/or Check Anti Pollution" on my 2008 Laguna. Nothing is found and it is reset. I did have the engine re built 12 months ago due to oil burning in one of the cylinders. Should I ignore this warning until I can notice something is obviously wrong?

Espace engine problem

Hi all ive got yet more trouble with my espace



2.2dci the race grand espace 2002



Ive just had loads of work done on it (no engine work though) and when i got it back from our garage it was running fine so i took it to Tesco and put £60 Diesel in so we could travel to Nottingham for a concert the car ran fine untill we got there then it just seemed to stall but did start again so i though nothing of it although i did not a red square come up on the dash, after we came out of the concert the car started fine until i went up the carpark ramp then it cut out again. we did have the AA out who managed to get it started with some easy start he then plugged into it and couldnt find any problems apart from the egr valve blocked off (which we knew about and had done ages ago to stop it running like crap)

the car stopped once more on the way home but started again on the easy start the AA gave us .

The car did not start the next morning so after the garage came and got it again to look at it they cleaned out the fuel filter etc and it started fine again, it has failed to start once more since then but we left it while and it fired up.

the car is turning over fine and the fuel pump is working fine



Any ideas people please before i drive it into the river and save my massive headache wtih it

Renault Master central locking issue

Hello every one.

I am new both to this forum as well as to motorized world.

Recently I have purchased a 1998 Renault Master with intention of camper conversion.

There is quite a few issues with the van, owing to the age, but I need to start somewhere.

Thus, central locking does not work with the key. It is a button-less key that will turn with no resistance inside all barrels... CL does work with the button inside (above head in the middle). The same key DOES start engine.

Has any body had the same problem? Any suggestions, please? I could start with fuse box but have no diagram so I may do more damage than repair...

I will highly appreciate any help!

Help window problems

Hi all am new to hear and have just bought my first Megane on a 04 plate cabrio and when you close the doors the windows don't sit behind the seal a friend says the window should drop a bit then then cose up fully as a never had one is this the case on the Megane thanks in advance

Renault Clio Dynamique 2006 Fan Heater problems

Fan heater on my dynamique stopped working, garage fitted new motor, new resistor and new wiring, Lasted about a week and stopped again, fitted another resistor, lasted about a day garage fitted yet another resistor again lasted for about a day. Apart from the initial break down fan motor is running on position 4 OK. Please help

A stone as cracked the screen right were the wipers park

if I go through my insurance I have to pay £80 but even

though it says it wont effect my premium I don't really

Renault clip global scan

Just wondering if anybody in south yorkshire with the renault clip software would be willing to come round and perform a global scan on a non starting Renault scenic 1.6 16 valve 2002.

Im beginning to suspect the ecu is at fault but rather than take the step of sending it off for testing Ive been advised to have a global scan performed,obviously this will go a lot deeper into the systems and show up possible leads to explore

Exhaust Mountings

Just found out one of my exhaust mountings on the safety strap so need replacements. However im a little confused. It look's different to the usual oval rubber ones im used too.



I haven't been under the car to look at the middle mount but im going to replace it anyway for peace of mind. Now are they the same mount for the middle and rear? Ive only been able to find ones marketed as rear and don't want to purchase the wrong item.

1.9 dci megane stuck in limp mode with no fault codes

hi i brought my aunts old megane cc off her non running previously it had the turbo blown she got that replaced drove it like 1000 miles possibly and it died on her would not start once cat was removed it fired up ok witch points to dpf but i have the cat back on loose its running just wont rev over 3000 rpm i have cleaned egr trying the maf off my laguna at some point at first it did come up with injection fault could it be blocked injectors or would that stop it running altogether at a loose end with it any help greatly appreciated

04 Scenic N/S/F ABS Sensor Replacement

Hi Guys, it would appear that my N/S/F ABS Sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced. I have checked the wiring and connections and these are all good and the diagnostics reports short or open circuit fault. When looking at the sensor it appears to be a push fit but I cannot see how to get the old one out. Has anyone changed one of these and if so, how do you remove the old one without damaging the clip that retains it in situ?



Any pointers or pictures would be a great help.

Clio 14 plate seat covers

Hi, i am just wondering if its possible to get seat covers to fit this model? I got a set from halfords but was unable to get them over the plastic part on the side of the seats. I am not sure if this model can even take seat covers.

Laguna Mk1 misfire or head gasket

My laguna started to run a bit rough this morning, I took it for a run as had not moved it for a few days when I got back it sounded like a tractor.

I've checked there is no oil in the rad and no water in the oil. I have disconected each of the coils and run the engine it hardly runs when I've disconnected 1 and 4, there is no difference when I disconnect 2 and 3. I think it is a misfire but the way my luck is lately it is probably both

Grand Espace leaking engine coolant

Hello :). The garage which has my car is telling me there will be around 10 hours of labour to 'strip the engine' (and put the car back together again) to get to the coolant pipes - one (or more) of which is leaking. This seems excessive to me. Is the Grand Espace engine really built around the coolant pipes so it is that hard to get to them? :confused: Thanks.

Hi I've just bought a Renault Grand Scenic, It's not the first Renault I've owned, I've started with a Renault 18 when I was 18, then I had a Renault 25 v6 Injection, that talked, then a Renault Safrane, then an Grand Espace, this last car was a disaster car, nothing worked properly, window won't work, air con would work in the summer it baked you alive. I'm looking for a 2005 Grand Scenic handbook, unfortunately mine didn't come with one. Also I only have one key card, is the a cheap way of getting another?

Renault Master engine number/size hunt

Hi,



We have just brought back from Germany a motorhome on a 2006 Renault Master. There is a discrepancy in the paperwork regarding the engine size so I asked the garage (where it is currently being made UK road legal) for the engine number. He gave us 3:

The engine should be a 3.0dci 140 but the early paperwork and the CoC suggests it is a 2.5.



Any help would be appreciated.

Currently have a twingo but am looking for a clio. My budget covers a car around 2007-2008. I have seen one I like that has the rain sensor for auto wipers, does this mean will also have auto lights or not necessarily? Rear n/s light trouble

Hi all,



A few weeks back my indicator started to flash pretty quickly on the dash and was not flashing at the rear (n/s). I thought light gone or maybe a bad earth? A couple of days later the brake light would not light up under braking. I have had the cluster off and neither of the lights have blown? I don't really know much about electrics and its started to wear thin with me now! Any ideas please?

Renault Modus Battery flat, reset immobillizer

Hi all



I have a 2005 petrol Modus 1.4.



I went to start the car Sunday but when i put the key into the ignition the dash lights up but will not turn over the engine at all. Nothing happens.

A garage has told me that the immobilizer is not recognizing the key.

They have said that the battery seems like it has gone flat and possibly reset things.



How is this possible ? and more importantly how can this be fixed ? They have told me I will need to get my car to a Renault garage main dealer but that will obviously cost ££££ that I just do not have.



Any help at all would be great, I'm in despair :-(

Laguna II - How to disconnect wiring block connector from rear wing-mounted lights?

Hi all, diagnosing a short in the rear lights and having a little trouble disconnecting the wiring block connector.



Access is limited with fingers so i'd be using a tool but I don't want to force it the wrong way in case i snap something..



Does the connector lift out and away from the socket or does it slide away to the side?



Haynes manual doesn't show a picture of the connector and socket so I'm not sure how they connect.



PS I am referring to the lights on the body of the car, not the tailgate.

trafic 2007 Warning lights

Hi, I have a 2007 115 DCI trafic. My service and airbag warning lights are on. I have changed the fuse this works for a few weeks then they re appear. Also I have noticed my stop and handbrake lights flicker sometimes, is this a fluid level problem?

Clio 06 - 1.2 - 16V - Problems with Temperature Gauge and General Havok

Hi!



I'm very new to the forum, I've had a good sift through but can't really find an answer to the problems I'm having. My instinctive guess is that the problems lie with the Lambda Sensor but hopefully someone can give me some good suggestions and point me in the right direction. Have been feeling a bit skint after Christmas and New Year as always so wanted to get a good idea of if this is something I can fix myself before I consider taking it to the garage.



This all started the other day, I was driving along for a good 10-15 minutes and noticed that the engine temperature light hadn't moved on my dashboard, I did a bit of high revving for a minute and it did bump up to 2 bars but then as I returned to driving normally it dropped back down to no bars.



The engine had definitely heated up, under the bonnet my Radiator levels are halfway between Min & Max and my Oil level is good with about a half tank of petrol.



On my next Journey, I had the same problem - still no bars and the car wasn't feeling 100%. I Parked up and was away for about 30 minutes, came back started the engine and had about 2 bars which went back down to no bars as soon I started driving.



Had an alright drive for about 10 minutes, Struggling up hills and on one long incline the Engine shaped light was flashing and the car felt a bit juddery. Managed to get home fine but the cars performance had literally sunk.



Drove today and have had no problems other than just the performance overall.



Any ideas to what I can do to fix the issue?

Service -102k miles. Concern. Grand Scenic II. Advice.

My Grand Scenic 2 ( 2006, 2.0 Dci, 150BHP with chain) is coming up for its 102,000 miles / 165,000 kms service. I service the vehicle myself in my garage. It's running well and behaving.

However, can anyone advise what parts or areas of possible concern should be checked at this stage of the vehicle's life?



I will change of course, oil, all filters including fuel filters, glow plugs and springs budget permitting. Is there anything else that needs to be checked either by myself or by a Renault dealer. I need this car to last and I am prepared to invest some cash to avoid anything going bang in the future.

2002 Scenic Anti roll bar bush replacement

My 2002 Scenic 1.8 has had an irratating vibration/knocking for a while and the garage have suggested its the inner anti roll bar bushes, they have also just come up as an advisory on the MOT, so its time to replace them!

I have measured the bar and have the correct diameter bushes on the way.

Now is it just a case of unbolt the clamp, pop out the old bush, grease the new one and pop it back on, then repeat on the other side.

The car will be on its wheels, so the load on the bar will be even.

The haynes manual only shows how to remove/refit the whole bar, but as the bushes are split I'm assuming the inner ones can be done with the bar in place? Any tips or advise on unknown perils greatly appreciated!

Megane MK11 Electrical Failure

I HATE RENAULTS ELECTRICS!!!



Went to Morrison's (other supermarkets are available). Was about an hour upon my return i tried to start the car by the brake. Lights came on, fuel pump primed but it didn't try to turn over, it did beep at me a couple of times like when the doors are open which i thought was strange. Tried again with the clutch and it started. Proceeded to roll myself a cig so not looking at the dash and then the engine cut out. Didn't seem to be running any rougher then usual. When i looked up i saw a message along the lines of 'electrical fault' or 'electrical failure' displayed on the dash and the stop light lit. This is when it started behaving strange. I pressed the stop button to turn the ignition off and the dash display went blank, took key out and i don't believe the steering lock came on (not 100% sure however), usually the displays says something like please enter card and the steering lock would come on.



I tried to restart and every time on brake or clutch the lights come on, it proceeds to beep at me and the stop light illuminates along with the battery light. So i press the button again to turn ignition of and repeat with no luck. All the while the 'electrical failure' message wasn't displayed again.



The last time i pressed both the clutch and brake and she started and drove home as usual.



So im going to remove fuse box and ecu etc and check they are dry and the contacts are clean, check for any signs of electrical damage.



I make the assumption what ever caused the ECU to display the electrical failure message and the stop light will have been logged? So my question, besides any general trouble shooting advice,would a ELM327 be able to read it? (I think its the ELM327 USB adapter i hear allot about on these forums) Or will it have to be a garage with Clip software to get this information?

kangoo dci intermittant spluttering.

After giving lots of advice on clutch problems I now find myself with an engine problem on my trusty kangoo 1.5dci. The problem is this:

every so often I suddenly start to lose power and th van will not rev above 1800rpm. If I try and push past this the engine knocks/rattles very loudly. If I nurse it along it will start running properly again after a few minutes. I've changed the fuel and air filters, the problem still persists.

megane mark 3. heater fan not working.

Megane mark 3 heater fan has stopped working. Was not driven for 3 months but was working before this. Will check fuses first.

2004 scenic 1.5dci hard to start hot or cold

Hi I'm new here although been here ages reading ! I've got a 04 grand scenic that runs perfect no loss of power idles fine but just a real torture to start it starts slightly better when cold I could drive it for 50 miles without a problem until I turn it off and strate away it's hard to start takes ages. It always eventually starts but it puts up a hell of a fight can any one help it shows no engine faults on reading just the handbrake witch I've learned to live with any help is more than welcome

Just taken my car for a service at local Renault garage.



They told me there are a few issues that need resolving.



My window regulator is broken (I already knew this) and they quoted me £426 to fix this!



They also quoted £203 to fix a new heater resistor and heating loom, and £400 for the cam belt (due May 2016).



Would I get this done cheaper with an independent garage?



I'm not great with cars and usually just go to main dealer for services etc, but this is so expensive. I also have no idea where to even start looking for an independent garage. I live in Bromley, Kent :( Can anyone recommend anyone decent?

laguna 2000 1.9dci won't start

Hello I am new to this forum. Any help or advice received will be appreciated!

I have the car above and it will not start, the problem has been going on since early December, started off being intermittent with the car starting and me driving it, stopping then trying to start when hot and would not. I changed the crankshaft sensor and it worked for a while. But the problem has now returned, the RAC came out to me and there was no errors read on the computer.

Cracked open the injector pipes on the engine and no fuel is getting through When the engine is cranked over.

Diesel filter has been changed a couple of months ago in full service.

Any ideas on this problem would be a help.

Have recently bought a 2010 Traffic 115 dci test drove the van and it seemed ok until a whine came into it and it only comes into it at 80 kph and gradually gets louder as you pick up speed,thought it might be a bearing but when I jacked up the front wheel on each and getting the same whine once it gets up to 70-80 kph and also when I clutch at these speedsand knock it out of gear the whine is still there until it drops in speed.Any Help Please.

renault megan 1.5dci turbo

hi I came off a bumpy road the other day and lost power, then there was a whistling sound from the engine. I think this is a turbo problem, my question is could there be a quick fix or am I looking at replacing the hole turbo?

Trafic Fan Selector Switch Not Working

I am having a problem with the fan selector swith in my Trafic Van. It won't select anything anymore :(



When you try to turn it round, it feels like you are turning against an elastic or spring, then flicks back to the original position.



Since I can't put it on to demist the window, and this is winter - its a problem!

I am assuming that I can fix it just behind the switch, maybe something has broken, gotten caught up - is that right?



If so, I can't fingure out how to get behind it / remove the dash area. :o

Hi,ive got water inside scenic passenger side,ive cleared drain holes but been told multiplug may have been effected as rear window wont close and sometimes handbrake fault shows.can someone explain steps to access multiplug under passenger side storage compartment and can it be cleaned/repaired, cheers

Master dash electrics

Newbie here. I wonder if anybody can help. I just bought a 1998 Master van for my son. While driving it (for the first time) to his home 50 miles away I realised that the temperature guage was not working although everything else seemed ok. When I got there we went for a short drive.During this the speedo and fuel guage stopped working. Getting back to his place we found that the nearside side light was not working and the nearside indicator flashing very quickly. Strangely the temperature guage started working.:confused:

I am totally bamboozled. Any thoughts?

Stop and Battery lights on

Hi - I have a P Reg Laguna Estate 1.8. I broke down Thursday and was told that I needed a new alternator. I have now fitted a new alternator, pulley belt and a new battery. Despite this, Stop and battery warning lights are still showing. I've been told I may need to 'reset'. Any ideas on this or what else could be the problem.

Renault Clio Revs!

Hi,



This may be normal but my Renault Clio 1.5Dci revs seem to be acting strange.



If I seem to be driving at low revs they will shoot up and then drop to normal again.



Also when I started the car this morning the revs we're going crazy in idle jumping up and down until I put my foot down on the throttle for a few seconds.



I should note I was running on low diesel this morning and have since topped up with a full tank and some reddex.

I have just bought a Scenic 08, so far its great. keep finding more treats like parking sensors that i didnt notice when i was viewing. great :eek:



anyway, i just opened the glovebox and found a cable with what looks like an s-video end to it, or something close. i have googled it and searched this site but cant find out what it is.

Car is driving fine then cuts out,no electrics.Sit in car and after 10 minutes power, gradually comes back,enabling restart.

52 Plate Clio dci expression loud rattle heard stopped engine now will not start

Good afternoon.



And it's a cold one at that. Having done a search I did find a thread that was to say the least very helpful and sole destroying all in nine pages.



Engine rebuilt at 103,000 miles

Bores honed, new rings, new Turbo, new starter motor, new head bolts, no crank work required, head cleaned and valves reground and new thermostat.

Current mileage 148,000

last service 1,500 miles ago

Oil service every 3000 miles

fuel and air filter service every 6000 miles



My problem started driving home from a funeral the car seemed to judder then loose power but still drive. If i increased the revs there was a loud knocking sound akin to a big end going from the engine. if i reduced the revs the car drove fine but still with noticeably reduced power. I got home okay parked up and the next morning expecting the worse i was surprised when the car started and ran fine, no miss no rattle. however when i drove up the hill and tried to accelerate there was an almighty rattle and the engine light began to flash and the glow plug light came on.



I called the RAC and the little box said the cam shaft sensor was intermittent, low fuel pressor along with a few more that I cant recall. On clearing all the stored faults and trying to start the car the cam shaft sensor came up as intermittent.



Now having changed this the car still won't start.

However it turned out the unit that was fitted was not correct for the engine so £60 wasted there and a trip to the local parts store for the correct part. yes you guessed it it still won't start.



Timing checked thats okay

Engine will run on easy start when cranked so i would guess mechanical integrity is okay.

All the lights come on and extinguish as normal



The question i would like an answer to is this: How much fuel would be expelled from a disconnected injector pipe in 30 seconds of cranking?



Having removed an injector and orientated it so that it would fire into a bag on cranking i got nothing. When i removed the injector completely and placed the end of the pipe into a bottle, on cranking for 30 seconds I only got 100ml of fuel collected. Now i know that when the injectors fire they do so with some force so there would need to be significant flow to achieve this, the computer recorded a cranking speed of 20 rpm (if i read it correctly) and no faults are stored or pending.



I am leaning heavily toward getting a new pump. Any other thoughts?

Clio mk2 horn not working

Fuses checked & ok, connections checked & arn't rusted or dirty, cleaned them anyway. Couldn't be the horn after less than a year on can if? Any ideas? Pictures included below. Cheers

Laguna II V6 (L7X) Rocker Cover gaskets

Hi all,



So my wifes Laguna with the L7X-731 is leaking oil really bad from the rear bank of Rocker Cover gaskets.



I have been trying to get a full set of Rocker Cover gaskets for all 4 rocker covers. But Renault say the gaskets are not available separately. But they do come included with brand new rocker covers. For a very high price !.



It would seem the Gaskets on the 3.0 V6 24v VVT engine are different to the non-VVT version found in the Laguna I, and Espace V6.



Has anyone found a source for these ?. Or should I just remove, clean, de-greese. And use a good Instant Gasket ?.

Renault Megane smells hot and engine fan on

Just come back from a 20 mile gentle trip home in our 63 plate Renault Megane 1.6 GT Line and noticed a humming noise coming from somewhere.



Pulled up outside the house and as i turned the engine off the humming stopped but the engine fan was on.



Temperature gauge appears ok and the heating and aircon was completely off.



Oil and coolant levels are ok as well.



Clutching at straws but does anyone have any ideas what it could be before i take it to the dreaded dealership.
