I've got thread in the 'engine' section, but double posting about this specific question here.
I had a whine in 5th and 6th gear on my Megane 175DCi, so took gearbox out and got it refurbed by a place recommended by ex-mechanic neighbour. Now the gear change is pretty awful. At first I hoped because no oil had sloshed around, but even after running it for a few minutes with the wheels off the ground it is still bad. Could this be installation error? I guess it could be clutch still needs more bleeding, but this wouldn't be a problem with the motor off would it? Before the rebuild the gear change was very slick.
The gearbox place recommended putting motor oil in - would this help? I said I'd already bought the recommended TransELF, and they said it would be OK to use that.
I shall call the gearbox place tomorrow, but not sure how straight an answer to expect.
It might get better after a few miles? One can hope!
