I have just had a replacement front pipe fitted to my 2.0 litre, 16 valve Renault Laguna RTi by a local tyre and exhaust installer. The front pipe to manifold is a spring loaded ball type joint that allows for engine movement. I noted the before and after front pipe flange to manifold joint appearance of the bolt conical spring nut and it has changed. The o/s appearance of bolt hanging down with nut securing conical spring is as expected. However the n/s appearance is now different. The n/s bolt is now in an upward direction. It compresses the conical spring correctly. The other end of the bolt appears to have a small number of threads engaging with the manifold (there is no nut). I do not understand why the n/s appearance has changed or if it is fit for purpose. I am concerned that the n/s bolt threads will strip such that the bolt and conical spring will fall off.
Does anyone have an illustration or photograph of the correct arrangement? Thanks.
