Hi all,

For now, I am not going into the nightmare this car has been, suffice to say, concerning the thread title, you can guess the situation I am now in.........
In the Hayn*s manual, they state that on no account should the head be reground. Rather a new head/reconditioned head be sourced.
Just for a 'laugh' I asked at the a main dealership (whilst getting a thermostat sender 'o' ring) how much that part alone would be. I.E. service replacement, me handing the removed head over the counter, to receive a bare service exchange a few days later.
£864.80 all in.............
So, five questions.
1. Is this lore, about not having the cylinder head linished/ re-ground?
2. Would it make better sense to have a service replacement?
3. Does anyone have any better suggestions on where I could get a service replacement?
4. What other parts, bolts and gaskets are needed in re-fitting?
5. Will the valves seats need re-grinding and if so, can this be done old - skool, with suction cup rod and fine/coarse grinding paste?
I have already carried out a thorough engine flush before with 1200ml Forte Bio Degreaser. After, I replaced cambelt, idler pulley, tensioner, crankshaft pulley bolt, water pump and thermostat gasket replacement, ten miles ago, so will probably re-use these parts.
The engine ran beautifully upon start up, but the same problem occurred of oil entering the expansion bottle. It also ran so bast*rd hot, I needed to have the blower on full blast, full heat just to limp home.............
Any help, advice and thoughts would be much appreciated. This is my business vehicle and I am losing cutomers and work at a rate of knots.
