Megane CC - Parking Sensors?

Hey there,



I have recently purchased a Megane CC and am looking to fit parking sensors. Just wondering what people would recommend when purchasing them such as any particular type, do they need to be wireless (want the Led display)etc? Am looking at different types on ebay but all look the same to me! Also are they difficult to fit on this type of car and anything worth me knowing with this type of thing. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi I have a 2006 grand scenic 1.5dci which I bought not long back and have the parking break fault message I found rear pads to be down to metal I have replaced and the message is still there is there anybody in the Dudley area with renault can clip that could have ago at reseting for me

1.2 modus 2006 Brakes crunch when pressed

Ocassionally when I press the brakes I will feel waht I can only describe as alight crunch up through the pedal. It is very short

MK IV Renault Espace 2.0T Auto Power Loss

Have been having problems with my espace since first getting it . The same as first post here http://ift.tt/1nhIL6O . Taken car to an independent French specialising garage ,who did a diagnostic check on it . Came up with fault code P0120 TPS/Pedal position sensor . They cleared fault & said that we would start from scratch once faults reappeared ,which was within half a mile of leaving garage . They thought it was the Throttle body sensor . Recommended getting a second hand part to be on the safe side & save costs . But was having to take it back every day to get the parameters reprogrammed ( might not be the right word). After a week of this ,they then said to get a new part from Renault . This worked ok for a day & starting the car several times . Problem re occurred but they have been shut for a week & am going back tomorrow to get the new part reprogrammed again . In the mean time I have been back to my own garage, & he thinks from the beginning it is the accelerator pedal . Have then visited a Renault breakers & repairers that I didn't know was local to me . They don't think it is the pedal & are 90% sure it isn't . They will look at car once other garage can't work out problem . So my question is does anyone have a clue what problem could be . Also on accelerator pedal part number is 82 0000 7515 is this the right pedal for Auto engine code JK0DAB , as I have seen some ending in 7514 for the same model & the one that I have not being compatible with my car . So wondering if fault is pedal . Since car has been to garage ESP fault has not appeared . Thanks for any help as I have been searching for weeks to an answer .

Heater thermal fuse , where to plug wires in

I have a 2002 Renault scenic fidgi 1.4 that i have just bought for my daughter inlaw .The heater fan does not function so i assumed blown thermal fuse . NO ! the unit checked out a1 , But the main red and black wires are not plugged in ??? am i right in assuming they are the main power feed to the fan ???

So my question is where do they plug in ??

i have spent a good few house under dash to find a plug to put them in but no joy .

PLEASE PLEASE can some body help me out .:confused:

Apparently its a facelift model :) yeh audi do midlife jiggling around also.

All I was interested in was a 225 with no more than 90 k up and under £3.5k.

So far so good(1 week :) ).

Ill leave spending any cash on it till after I find out "what needs doing".

The driving contrast is nice tho,I find Im driving the megane more economically now!

Removing injectors from 1.9 dci laguna 130bhp

Hi,

It's the first time I've posted anything here, but I've found the discussions and advice and experiences invaluable in the pursuit of keeping my laguna on the road with minimal intervention from the dreaded Renault dealer..



I've just tried and tested a method of getting injectors out easily that I read about somewhere, but where escapes me (sorry to whoever you are)

I have posted a YouTube video to show the technique. I apologise for the lack of camera skills, as I was working alone, and the injector didn't want to come out as easily as the first and third one did. Even though, I think that some of you might find it useful. I even boasted to a mechanic friend of mine, saying I can get an injector out while drinking a coffee at the same time..

Clio 2 Rear door locked

Hi guys, ive been given a clio 2 as my first car. Only problem is that the rear passenger door wont open. Have removed the door card, disconnected the central locking power cable and found a few bits not in the right place LOL.... big issue is that I still cant open the door? How do I open the lock??? My dad has tried with limited results (lots of swearing)



Any help would be appreciated,

1.4 dci oasis injector fault

Hi im new and firt time posting.

i have a 2005 megane dci 1.4 which i got a few moths back the bloke i got it from had all four injectors replaced due to an injector fault mesage showing on the dash.

been driving it and every so often the mesage shows up then goes, no power loss nothing just message,

as of friday i drove over 400 miles got home left the car for about ten minutes went to go move it, put card in pressed start and all its doing it turning over again and again till the same message shows about injectors.



anybody have any information on what caused it and how much its going to be to fix of any ideas on how to fix it?

HELP Rear humming noise need second opinion

HELP I've had this annoying humming noise from my Clio dynamique 1.2 16v. It starts just over 20mph and seems loudest between 30 - 35mph. The pitch doesn't change on different road surfaces or alter when turning left or right and no wheel play at all.



I've read many threads and they all pointed to bad wheel bearings so I got them checked out. The mechanic just removed the rear wheels and took of the caps in the centre of the drum. He informed me that the bearings looked new but one was dry so his solution was to pack the two caps with grease saying it will seep in to the bearings in the next day or two and should quiet it down......I'm not convinced.



Obviously I suppose I need to give it a day or two to see if the grease does work but I can't see it happening. So other than bearings is there anything else I can check. Tyres are good also.

gear selecting problem

I have a 2007 Renault master cdi120 i can only select reverse,1st,3rd and 5th gear.there is resistance if i try to locate 2nd 0r 4th and in general the gears i can select are a bit hit and miss! the whole thing is very stiff.

Renault Clio semi automatic master cylinder problems

Hello,



My car sometimes won't start when I turn my keys. To start I have to give the master cylinder a few taps then I try again and it starts but oil spits out of the reservoir above the cylinder.



Also when I'm driving the gearbox symbol appears and I cannot change gear.



Is this a problem with my clutch arm or cylinder?



Had many people look at it and they haven't a clue, PLEASE HELP!

Tow bar confusion

Exactly how many different types of tow bar are there for a Renault Scenic?



I just bought a 1.9 diesel Scenic May 03. I then bought of eBay a "2001 megane Scenic Towbar". Its actually has the official Renault plate on that says " Megane Scenic 7701-383-027". The seller bought it for a Scenic RX4x4, and it didnt fit.



Doesnt fir mine either. In fact, I cant see HOW you would fit it. There NO HOLES in either of the chassis rails at the side for the ends of the towbar arms , and there NO HOLES for the vertical support bars at the bar corner ends. In fact, there isnt even any chassis where the passenger bar end is. It CLEARLY isnt the tow bar for this model, and its not the tow bar for a 4x4, and in fact, i see now holes anywhere on the back end ready to take bolts for a tow bar.



What the hell is going on? What does the tow bar for the model look like, and where are the holes it fits into ? How many tow bars are ther for scenics? Isnt a 2001 Scenic chassis the same as a pre May 2003 one ?

Renault Megane Auto Light Fault

Hi, My renault Megane shows Auto Light Fault when engine running and also shows the service prompt. This started after the fuse of the cigarette lighter went bad. I have since changed that and checked all other fuses but to no avail. :confused:

First watch this vid.. now how do you guys feel about fitting a bearing that's been in the freezer for 24 Hrs into a drum that's been in an oven for 20/30 mins..to me its disaster waiting to happen..I feel that a cold bearing against the hot drum would affect the molecular structure of the metal in the bearing and it could set micro fractures on the bearings casing and possible the drum..by the way with all the vids I have watched of late this guy actually used a torque wrench to tighten the hub nut up when garages did not..Tsk Tsk..:eek:

RX4 power loss

Hi, wonder if anyone can help. I have a Scenic RX4, 2.0Ltr petrol. The engine is good with nice clean exhaust and no oil loss. On the flat it pulls well and appears to have bags of power until it comes to a hill or slight incline where it loses power. I am having to drop down gears to keep going, at one point I was in 1st gear, although it was a rather steep hill, but I don't think that this is normal. Has anyone else had the same problem and, if so, what did you do to correct the fault.

Starting problem when hot.

Hi all. I am a first time poster. I own a 2001 Renault Scenic 1.4. When starting cold no problem. When i drive for 10min or so and turn off engine and try to start again after 2 or 3 mins it wont start. It is like the battery is dead it just turns so slow. If i leave it for 15mins it turns over like new. Any tips would be fab. Thanks in advance.

hi all I have a rumbling noise on my o.s.f wheel on my 1999 clio 1.4 RT the noise only happens when driving over 30mph so far I have changed the wheel bearing the discs and swapped tyres any help would be appreciated thanks George

changed the oil on my 09 traffic 115dci today, when I went to start the word oil is flashing with dashes and serv light on.

tried the accelerator pedal down and pushing brake pedal, didn't work.

Roofbox for 1998 Scenic

Hi all. I have a Renault roof box for a 1998 Scenic taking up space in my garage.



Please can anyone tell me how I can find out which other (more recent) models it will fit? I don't want to pass it on to someone that it's not suitable for. It has recessed channels for the wide flat Renault roof bars (that we don't have any more), which means (I assume) that it'll only fit cars where the bars are similarly spaced.

Hi all I have scenic on on a x plate every now and then the immobiliser sticks and the car doesn't start. I had the RAC out yesterday and they said the immobiliser is on its way out and he said it would cost more than the cars worth as its a factory fitted one. Renault Scenic I, whistling/wind-blowing-like noise

I am driving a Renault Scenic I('99) with 1.9 dTi engine, 72kw.

It's running 178k miles and was working pretty well, but now it started to do some weird stuff.

Few days ago I've noticed that a car starts whistling. It's not only this "whistling" sound, but also something like wind blowing through the open window(I guess draft is the word for this). This noise occurs when I'm driving with revs reaching 2500, around speeds of 40 to 55 MPH(did not try to run faster). The noise comes from somewhere behind the center of the dashboard and occurs even if I'm not accelerating. Anyway, it's practically gone when speeding below 40 MPH. I have not noticed any power loss or oil leaks on the ground under a car.



Any ideas what could be problem and where to look for it..?

Espace Airbag Warning Light

Hello all,



I was hoping someone may have had the same problem, and therefore a solution. I will try and be brief, but my problem is as follows:



'Check Airbag' and service light comes on intermittently (explanation below what I mean by intermittent)



Took it to Renault, who diagnosed problem with CLIP as a curtain airbag fault, and replaced wiring loom. This was the cheaper of the two options of replacing airbag and re-doing the wiring. £230, of which £180 was dropping the roof lining



Problem still persists. Would you recommend that I:

• Take it back to Renault to replace the airbag (and does anyone know how much this costs?)


• Take it to a specialist auto electrician?


• Does anyone have a DIY solution? I have seen people re-do connections under the seats, so does this work, and does anyone have step-by-step guide?

Intermittent means as follows:

Starting from cold in the morning (lasts 15-20 minutes)

In the wet

Accelerating hard (clears when foot comes off the gas & you're cruising)

Some days it stays on for a whole trip of 2 hours+, some days I won't see it at all.



Any help would be greatly appreciated, as it is driving me :devil:

My Captur the average mpg read out was 29.9, I booked it into the garage and they fixed it and the last journey I done was 58 miles and it averaged 71 mpg

"electrical fault" won't start/only some electrics work

I have recently purchased a Megane 1.6 on a 53 plate, no more then 3 days after buying it I suddenly have a "electrical fault" message come up on the dash. the car also won't start.

when you put the key in and press the start button the ignition will come on but no lights like engine light, oil light etc just the handbrake light.

the indicators don't work but the hazards do.

when you put the h/lamps on the lights will come on the dash as if they are on but again they don't actually come on.

front windscreen wipers don't work but the rear does.



I have taken the fusebox out following advice from a youtube video because it may have gotten wet but it was bone dry.

Checked fuse - all fine.

Checked fuses on the pos terminal of battery - all fine.



Can anybody suggest what may be the problem?

Laguna 2 N/S Driveshaft keeps destroying itself

My Laguna 2 n/s driveshaft destroyed the roller bearings where it meets the gearbox cup. When turning left it made a god awful noise and juddering. I replaced the driveshaft with one from GSF(the only one listed for my car) Within a month it did it again. This time I replaced the driveshaft, the now wrecked cup in the gear box, the spacer and retaining circlip. New bottom ball joint on the wishbone and drop link plus a new rear engine mount(that didn't really seem to bad).

I checked all of the engine mounts and they showed no real signs of wear and the wish bone feels solid in the mounts.

After a week the vibration is starting again and I'm pretty sure it's going to happen again soon.

I've read through the forums and haven't found a decent answer, I'm pretty sure that welding a 20mm section into the shaft can't be the answer. There has to be some thing allowing the driveshaft to pull out of the cup enough for it to wreak havoc on the bearings.

Can anyone shed any light on this as it's getting infuriating? :confused:

funny space saver motorbikin

I bought a car an audi tt mk1 ,comes with a space saver.

The tyre was shredded.

A replacement continental 125/70 r18 is available at about £52 sterling,in the renault forum discounted "tyretraders".



Today I decided to search for areplacement from scrappies.1 place had none around as they usually dump em :(

2nd place said there was a hi demand for em.. but they had none either !

full wheel n tyre replacement needs to be an a3/s3 2000-2003,tt 99-2006, vw golfs mk 4 might do also.



All I really want is a tyre.. very worn even:) as the wheel itself is serviceable.

I just dont likethe idea of paying a regular tyre price or one that is speed restricted.. may only be used once n so on:)

btw most places are more expensive than tyretraders and continental seem to be the only ones that make that car tyre size.

I went to a classic bike restoration place that isnt too far from where I am.

(Aside..theyre gettin in a circa late 70's honda 400 4 with an original honda 4into one pattern exhaust which pumps the value a lot.Price will be in excess of 3k.

While I wouldnt mind owning such a bike for the nostalgia value cos I had one,I sure wouldnt pay the same money as 2003 tt :d )



Back to the spacesaver: He pointed me towards a pile of used bike tyres and ..take whatever you want.



I went for a 130/70/18 .We tried to fit it on,got it on the rim eventually.This guy doesnt have one of those hydraulic machines,

However the beading wouldnt pop completely on one side even with 80 psi applied.

I gave him a tenner for the effort and will try with a car tyre fitter tomorrow or monday.



Before you say,motorcycle tyresarent designed for car wheels,the load rating would be all wrong.. etc.

These things I know , and I may end up sourcing a s saver original.. or ptooie .. actually buying a tyre :(.



If it works out it might be a cheap way of having ,a most likely illegal emergency spare(full size definitely wont fit in the wheelwell).

Dont do it!..well Id prefer a "dodgy" bike tyre spacesaver than one that runs on the rim.

Pioneer stereo

Hi all the wife decided to treat me to a new car stereo (pioneer)but whilst fitting it noticed the stereo adaptor lead didn't accommodate the small yellow plug on the car wiring thus the steering wheel controls and dashboard display didn't work what can I do to sort this out ????

Renault Trafic Airbag and SERV warning light

Hi. I have just picked up my 07 DCI 115 renault trafic after having 4 fuel injectors replaced. After driving away from the garage I noticed that the SERV light was lit and the airbag warning light. These were not lit prior to the vehicle going in for the work. Is there something that I may be able to check and fix or would it be best to return to the garage where the work was done.

Rear electric window still not working but motor ok??

Hi all my drivers side rear window still isn't working.



At first I thought the motor was seized so I binned it and jammed the window up with wood.



I've since been and got a new motor and regulator but still nothing. The motor works ok as I've tested it by removing the regulator and connecting wires direct to the motor pins from the battery. It goes up and down fully this way.



I've also tried swapping the switches and regulator around from the other door and both work ok.



I've also got a new door loom thinking the problem must be in the wiring but still not working??



I can only see 3 fuses for electric windows in the glove box and they are all ok.



I'm at a loss what to try next, anyone have any ideas?

07 Clio display with everything lit up

Hi,

this is my first post so I hope someone can help please.

We have just picked up a 2007 1.5 dci clio and the stereo display has gone to showing everything and the steering column stalk controls don't work.

Turned it off, and worked again fine...this has happened a couple of times...any ideas?

If I wanted to get a replacement stereo with ipod/mp3 capability is there anything that I will need to get the display and controls working normally?



Also the fan doesn't work on 4..but I have found the cure to this...just need to get the fascia off and get to it!!

I recently bought Renault Laguna 2003, 1.9 dCi with manual AC controls and I notices that a lot of bulbs on that module are not working so I want to replace them, but I didnt find out how to remove it? So is there any write ups or instructions on how to remove manual heater control so bulbs can be replaced.

To all that own a Mk4 Clio,



There has been a recall on some because of brake hoses and certain caps (not sure what) but ive just phoned up to have my car booked in for a service and asked if the rumours were true. And they are!

2011 Clio III Dynamique TomTom 1.6 Automatic

I am trying to find out the correct pressure for my tyres. The tyre size is 16.



My handbook does not give the tyre pressure (as in the past) but refers one, in at least two places, to the chart on the driver's door. However, my driver's door was replaced by Renault Orpington but the chart was not replaced.



I have asked Renault West London but they do not know the correct pressures.



Ideally I need the matrix for Front/Back and Motorway/Non-motorway loaded/Non-motorway unloaded.



I have bought the skeleton sticker for the driver's door from Renault West London, but they have not been able to advise what pressures I should use.



Incidentally everyone I have asked (including at Renault) or searched online refers me to the Handbook, apparently unaware that Renault does not actually include a chart of pressures as previously.

MKII 1.9DCI starting problem

Folks.....my 2004 Megane DCI 1.9 has suddenly had issues starting



It normally starts after 2 cranks......but the last few days it was 4......until the other day it started but died after 2 seconds, then just turned over and didnt start and the battery went flat



I put a new battery on and tested the alternator. All is fine but again, 4 cranks before it started.



Tonight I went shopping and tried to start it....it started after 4 cranks but then died after 2 seconds. I then tried to start again but it just turned over until a few tries until it fires up



Any ideas?

If I replace my ECU with a used one (same part number and same engine) will my keycard work with it?

2000 laguna 1.6 sport

Having trouble starting the laguna. Car was in garage for 3 years and not been moved or started.

Put battery from my other car and it started first time. drove car to MOT station without any problems. failed on track rod end ball joints. Fitted them and put new battery in car but would not start. tried battery from other car and still not starting.

circuit knock sensor, flywheel sensor

hi guys.

last year i posted a question & got it resolved by cleaning the crankshaft sensor on my mk1 scenic, thankyou.

my problem at the moment is that it will reluctantly start on a few occasions , just like the crankshaft sensor problem that i cured with a clean.

i have had it on a plug in & its coming up with circuit knock sensor and circuit flywheel sensor no signal!.

can anyone tell me how to mend and where these parts are on the engine.

its only happened a few times, i have had the engine pc board wiped clean and will now wait till it happens again and put it back on the fault finder.

2002 renault scenic 1.6 auto noise

we own a 2002 Renault scenic 1.6 auto with the DPO gearbox and it has recently developed a rattle when D is selected. If I put the car into N then noise goes, comes back when switching back to D



The noise is a tinny rattle but only happens when a gear is selected as mentioned above.



There are no warning lights light on the dash and the gearbox behaves normally.



I've had a look to see if anything is touching/out of place etc but cant see anything.

I don't want to ignore the noise in case it gets worse.

Megane P0722 Low input warning

My replacement 2004 1.9 DCi Megane for has been a bit of a problem child since I got it. It’s had a number of error codes showing including Glow plug relay which turned out in the end to be broken wire and PO487 error code which resulted in me replacing the ERG valve as it came apart when I tried to remove it.



I have one ‘pending’ fault showing now ‘P0722 PowerTrain Output speed sensor circuit low input’ What is where is it and what does it do?

hi all had some great help off there in the past my renault megane dci started loosing cluctch fluid out of bell housing so ill have to change the slave clutch ect what i need to now is when i take the subframe off and gear box out how to go about changing the clutch is it take off and just bolt on or and special tools needed any help on doing this or tips will be very helpfull and again thankyou or does any body now a step by step on doing the whole job from start to finish

Replacing a Megance Headlamp?

Hi!



Somehow managed to break the glass (plastic!) of our Mk2 Megance Scenic (2000).



Sadly the Haynes manual doesn't seem show how to remove headlamps… Normally I'd just get stuck in but someone told me that the entire bumper needs to come off!



Has anyone replaced a Scenic headlamp / is there a guide somewhere or can someone even comment as to whether the bumper does in fact need to be taken out?

Laguna II petrol engine vibrating when idle

Hello,

I hope I can get a hint on this one.

Engine vibrating when idle ,revs not stable especially when air-con is on.Fuel consumption high with low speed ,at 60 mph on motorway -fuel consumption fine.

When down hill and gearbox in idle at 30 mph trip computer calculates 3l/100 km consumption-should be around 1l/100 km

No errors in the ECU.

Seems to get worse after engine warms up.

So far:

-new coils and spark plugs.

-Throttle body removed and cleaned.

-ECU connectors removed and cleaned with contact spray.

From the forum entries I see that the throttle body replacement is not a solution-I was given this option next.

Could it be something in the injector?

I did use a can of injector cleaner.

Clio II 1.2 16valve - Engine Swop hassles

I would like to know if anyone can shed some knowledge on the following matter...

Ive got a Clio2 1.2 16valve with a hole in the one piston, I decided to buy a 2nd engine and use the current one for future use regarding parts etc.



I only realized as soon as I started to fit the 'new' engine that there was quite a difference between the two...I have swapped everything on the top rocker cover the lot...only to find Im left with a half-moon cutout on the side of the head....



Any advice would be super...thanks in advance.

Clio 172 brake setup onto 1999 1600 Megane

I've been searching the net but failed to find an answer to a question / idea I've got.



Background

I have a 1999 1600 16v Megane Coupe which has been stood for a number of years. I'm planning on using the car for sprints, trackdays and hopefully come racing later on. However, the front brakes are in need of attention. I'm unsure at the moment on whether it's got 238mm fronts or 280mm (can't get to the car at the moment). The car will run on 15" wheels.



Scenario and Question 1

If the car is currently fitted with the 280mm brakes, are the calipers the same as the 172? If not, would the 172 calipers be a direct replacement?



Scenarion and Question 2

If the car is currently fitted with 238mm brakes would a full setup from a 172 fit as a direct replacement?



I think the 238mm setup would be small for sustained track abuse.



Your assistance would be greatly received.

Central Heater vent Air-con

Hi so I have a newish(to me) Clio Mk2 Ph1 2000 and the central vents where damaged and need replacing.



I know how to replace the top dash, what i need to know is once the top dash is removed will this give me access to the Central Heater vents what i have been told it is easier to just replace the full section so the 2 vents and surrounding casing, is this the case? if so how do i get to this it looks like it is held in place with 4 screws.



I have also seen posts on clio sport that there is a HU tool? that can remove just the actual vents as they are on a tiny clip held in by a very brittle plastic but !!



Any help would be much appreciated

1. is it easier to replace full central vents and vent holder, if so how?



2. if not can i just replace the vents and what is the tool needed or how do i make one?

Clio 1.5 dci injector problems?

My 2004 clio has recently been showing up the stop, coil and engine management light! All 3 icons at the same time, my mechanic put it on the diagnostic computer and it read fuel pressure. He replaced the fuel filter but the car is no better and the engine sounds awful. He has checked the injectors and quoting me £75+vat for each injector....I need all 4! Then I need a fuel pump and the tank cleaned. He says this is a big job which will cost around £600-700 before he even looks at my car for mot which needs a few things. And tells me it'd be better to scrap the car? The whole car is immaculate condition. Anyone know anything else it could be? Before I lose out on lots of money ***128557; the cars only worth about £1000 and has 110,000 miles on the clock.

laguna 1.9 dci 130bhp will not rev over 1500rpm,spanner icon and check injection showing,code read yesterday and got po100.po110 and po611,read it today and got po638,it seems permanenly in limp mode any info would be great

Renault kango engine relay and fuse box

I have been told I need to replace the relay and fuse box in the engine bay. The engine turns over but there is no ignition, there have been several false sensor errors but it appears to be deteriorating relays which is causing the problems. I have a 03 Kango Dci70, would one from a 03 Dci80 be suitable. Excuse my ignorance. If it would be suitable would I have to reset the management system as well. Thanks in advance

Clio 4 Windows

My Clio 4 Front windows screech when going up. They are fine when wet but awful when dry. Should I 'lubricate' the rubber seals and if so with what. Obviously I do not want smears all over the window.

2010 Megane III Estate GEARKNOB REMOVAL

Anybody know how to remove the gearknob from a 2010 Megane Estate? I want to fit an aftermarket gearknob, have tried pulling and unscrewing, neither have worked. It cant be that difficult can it?

Okay so I have to admit I am beginning to actually quite like the laguna and although I'm itching to change it I can't yet, not until spring next year at the earliest! but I've been looking around but I keep coming back to the Laguna 3, so how many people on here have had a laguna 2 and gone on to have a Laguna 3, how does it compare, people I have spoken to have said you can't compare the two cars with the latest Laguna being much better?..

gearbox shows neutral even though on D or P

Hi everyone,



I have a problem with an automatic gearbox in my Renault Grand Scenic 2010. Sometimes everything is ok and I can drive the car without any problems, at other times the computer will always display 'neutral' and will not let me start the engine.



I have done computer diagnostics for the gearbox at renault dealership and following errors came up:

1) DTC174029 - Shift Drum 1 - Invalid Signal

2) DTC174129 - Shift Drum 2 - Invalid Signal

3) DTC178194 - Changing Gears Shift Drum 2 - Unexpected Operation

4) DTC177664 - Gearbox Input 2 Speed Sensor Circuit - Signal Plausibility Failure



People at the dealership didn't know what the cause of these errors is.



When replacing oil filters, my mechanic dropped the wrench and some kind of spark went off. After driving aroun 150 miles problems started occuring. Could this be related?



Has anyone else had similar problems?

hi im new to the forums. I have had my clio for about 3 months now (Mk3 2006 1.6) and would like to add some rear speakers.



Apparently i need 13cm speakers and i have checked that the cables are in place. Im a noob so need something that's easy to fit.

89 Renault 19 TSE Hatch Rear Lights

Have had the above in the family for 25 years now



But I now have a problem the O/S/R Bulb holder (white bit sits between lens cover and bodywork) has got tired of being drowned periodically.



The light leaks and tends to fill up now & again



Anybody got any suggestions where I can get another Bulb holder from..... have tried Ebay, + local breakers & have tried local Renault dealer where part is listed with a price but as soon as the part number is entered it comes up no longer available.



Has anyone got a spare sitting on a shelf somewhere

rattling when accelerating. Please help

It's been getting worse and been in the garage a few times. Basically what's happening is when ichange gear and start to put my foot down i get a horrible rattling sound. It's got gradually worse and been in the garage had ball joints replaces and now they are saying it's the gear linkage. I was just wondering if anyone had anything similar the sound is coming from the front drivers side under bonnet but don't sound like it's coming from engine I'd say but I'm no expert. Just looking for some advice on what this could be. Thank you

Check Injector sign/loss of power

Hello,We have a problem with our Grand Scenic 1.9dci 55 plate which we have had for about 3 weeks. Check Injector light keeps popping up on the dash(like a few others on here have said) but everytime it pops up i lose power,its only when i stop at traffic lights etc it will go out and the power returns.However i noticed last night when the light appeared and my power went if i knocked it into neutral then back into gear the light would go out and back to normality again with the power.

I know it could be a variety of things,but i thought i would come on here and ask if anyone has any ideas?

I'm active on a number of forums but not a specific Renault one until now. I'm an aircraft engineer by trade but my passion is cars.



I have a 59 Clio GT that I bought new for commuting, but is used daily by my wife now as she loves it. She doesn't have much mechanical sympathy (bless her) so faults are only really detected if I manage to take it on a run.



I've been quite impressed with it in terms of driving over the years, but it suffered a few niggles whilst under warranty; the most irritating of which was the door rubbers splitting. (Which then happened again when out of warranty. Silly little job but annoying.) Also had DMF and air con condenser.



In terms of motoring I spend most online-time on detailing forums as I'm a bit of a geek over machine polishing and keeping cars looking their best, regardless of Mrs GE's attempts to rub paint along hedges and wheels along kerbs!



An***375;way, I'm looking forward to picking people's brains on technical facts/figures for any work I do on the Clio and I'm more than happy to help out with any advice on the basics of paint care/products. If I don't know the answer I know people who will.

Hi. I am from New Zealand. I have a Lutecaia 2001 1.6(believe same as Clio).



It has a DPO auto transmission and has a broken band (the one closest to engine)



Could some one please advise:

Why this has happened?

Do I replace both bands, why it is bits?

Do I need to replace other parts? Such as solonoid?

07 Megane Convert 2l Auto Undrivable

Hello, this is my first post on here and hope i have not balls'd anything up.



I have a 2007 Renault Megane Convertible 2l Auto with under 40k miles on the clock, lovely car but 2 weeks ago developed a fault whilst driving, it appears that no power is getting to the wheels but if you turn it of and on again it will work if you are incredibly gentle with the accelerator (even if only for a few minutes driving).



To much pressure on accelerator it then loses all power to the wheels and although engines revs, it isn't what it was.



Now we believed it may be a gearbox fault but gearbox specialists have had a good look and the box is fine. Another garage has had a good check and although we then though it could be a 'lack of fuel to engine' problems we have checked pump, filters, tank filter etc and everything is fine, and electricals also look okay on engine, it has been regularly serviced and i am now stuck on ideas and starting to get worried that perhaps this may turn out to be an ecu fault.



Is there anything that people can suggest to recheck or to check if haven't done so already and has anybody heard of this kind of fault on a Renault 2l block before.

Right, on my megane II, to go from the 1.5 to the 1.9 iv had to change the fuel lines, meaning the lines are dry with nothing in from halfway down the car.



Its got the primer bulb but iv been pumping it for a while but still no diesel in the lines. Any ideas, tricks etc?





Also, i need to prime the oil feed to the turbo, but i have the start button with no key to turn, any ideas or proceedure to follow to do it safely?

Hi guys,i have 55 plate dci 120 master van and fluid has been leaking from where column meets rack,sort of cylinder mechanism of some sort. I have tried 2 bottles of stop leak (has slowed leak bit),forgive if frowned upon but was last resort prior to new rack.Any advice on if there is seal there that can be replaced as in for MOT next monday PLEASE HELP :d

Renault Scenic 1.9dci Won't Start/ Glow Plug Light Stays On

Hi, I was driving along today and the heater light came on. I then drove home and turned the engine off, I tried starting it again but the car won't start and heater light comes on and stays on, there's no engine management or service light on though.

I did the search, but can't seem to come up with an answer for why the little mk2 v reg 1.2 8v clio I just bought for my daughter is a bit lumpy and seems to misfire on idle....its done 115k but just done a service including plugs , oil and filters........... it goes absolutely fine and pulls well with no apparent misfiring, its just all over the shop on tick over

CLIP vs DDT2000 vs AUTOCOM CDP+

Hy everyone,



Ive been reluctant to buy a scanner for my car (Megane 2004 1.5dci) because there are some diffuse info around and i dont want to buy a scanner to stay in the shelf.



As far as i understand the CLIP is the more reliable bet, the limit is the key programing and ECU updates.



The DDT2000 is a bit tricky to understand, it works until 2004 on diesel and to 2001 on petrol or it works from 2004 (or 2001) and after? some guys says it works on original cable only, others says it works on VAG KKL cable...?!?! im confused! and what is the limit? the key programing and ECU update too like the CLIP?



Finaly, the Autocom (2013 or 2014 version). As far as i see it can to pretty much the same as CLIP, is cheaper, and it works on different car brands (in case i get anoyed with my Meggy :) ), the cable can be used with other software like WoW from WURTH, i can program injectors, read ABS or Airbag errors or initialize data..



From all these 3 i would like, if someone knows, what is the cheap and proper cable for DDT2000 and its limitations (what models, years, programing features, ABS, Airbag data, etc), and if the Autocom is in fact pretty much capable of doing what CLIP does.

Laguna 3 Gearbox oil change, but gears still don't feel right...

Hi Guys.



I had my gearbox oil changed after it was suggested this could be the cause of a couple of my gears not wanting to engage smoothly (they are not crunching or slipping at all).



The garage advised the oil looked a little "dirty and thin" but nothing they thought was unusual. Following this on the way home (only 1/2 a mile) the gears do not feel any different after the change which makes me wonder a few things:



1) Does the oil take a while to bed into the gears? I.e it likely it will take a couple of decent drives to feel any difference as the oil gets spun and mixed around the gear box? Friday I will get a good run to work and back (30 miles total) and a trip to Heathrow to collect my wife (150 miles) but the next couple of days I am not going far if anywhere.



2) Is there an "ideal" revs for changing gear on a Laguna? I know it might sound stupid but on an old Primera I had changing gears at just over 2000rpm was always smoother than under 1800rpm for some reason. Makes me wonder if the Laguna is the same.



3) If not the oil what would be the next thing to look at? The clutch fluid seems okay and the filler tank looks full. As I said the gears do not grind or slip, they are just sometimes hard to engage as if they syncromesh is not working correctly. It is normally on 1st to 3rd I really notice it.



Any thoughts or comments/ideas would be welcomed.

Laguna II Fuse Foolishness leads to Electric Window Issue?

Recently bought a used Laguna II



The passenger window was making a harsh noise when i lowered it and was only moving at half the speed of the driver side.. It was silent when raising it though, and again, only raised at half the speed..



The car battery being used was only a 46amp so I have ordered the correct battery.. I recently disconnected the battery to do some work on the car, and once the battery was reconnected and I reset the windows, the passenger side no longer worked..



I checked the fuse box and realised that the previous owner was using a 10amp fuse instead of the required 30amp fuse, and of course, the fuse had blown.. I tested the adjacent 30amp fuse in place of the blown fuse and the passenger window worked again, but that same noise and slow moving symptom combo was present..



I'm not really knowledgeable when it comes to electrics but what are the chances that running the passenger side electric window and electric window multiplexing unit from a 10amp fuse instead of a 30amp fuse along with a car battery with only 75% of the recommended Amperage caused some damage here?



Or are the symptoms a sign of something else unrelated or, hopefully, just a sign of a bit of dirt or degreasing needed?

Scenic 1.6 bad idle and pick up.

51 plate scenic 1.6 went over some speed humps one morning and car started to stall at every stop. when started the idle is very low and like pulses up and down. We have changed nearly every sensor on car and still the same.

changed all plugs all coils crank sensor idle control valve map sensor and so on. I would appreciate any help or suggestions I have even had it compression tested to check valves etc.

Scenic 1 Immobiliser removal

Hi everyone



I'm having serious probs with (I think) my 2002 Scenic Immobiliser. I posted a thread about it but alas nobody replied :(



I have since been told to remove my immobiliser unit and post it to a specialist along with both keys. They will then diagnose if the immobiliser is causing the prob.



Does anyone know of any risks with this (apart from the obvious loss/damage/theft of unit)? Will it plug back in again without difficulty or is real there a risk of something going wrong.



I'd be really grateful if somebody could offer a pearl or two with this issue.

Renault Laguna 1 phase 2 - Not starting

I have recently aquired a Laguna with the enginecode: F4R-780 that wont start, I have changed the crankshaft sensor but that didn't resolve the problem.



When trying to troubleshoot, I found out that the injectors isn't firing and the coils isn't delivering any spark.



Any help is welcome.

2010 Renault Megane Sports Tourer

I'm just about to pick up a used 2010 Renault Megane Sports Tourer with a 1.5 dCi with 80,000km (50,000 miles) on the clock. It's in excellent condition inside and out and has a full service history at the local Renault dealer.



I'm moving from a Dacia Duster so I'm sort of familiar with Renault products. However, I'm slightly nervous about things like DPFs and using premium diesel. Any advice?

2011 Clio Dynamique Tom Tom engine seizure

Any advice on how to proceed?

My 2011 clio is 6 months outside its warranty.

A week ago the 'oil pressure fault' light came on without any warning (oil level was indicated as being correct although I didnt actually check it on the dipstick!!). I stopped driving and checked the manual for what this meant. I couldnt find anything in the manual so I restarted the engine (oil level indicator still said level OK).

Unfortunately i drove the car for 2 miles to get it to the nearest garage (11 am on a Saturday 2 hours before departing to go on holiday perhaps not thinking too rationally).......... and engine seized.

I have been told that a totally new engine is now required costing £6000 which is more than the value of the car (mileage 72,000 with spot on service history etc etc.).

Insurance wont pay.

Basically it would appear that I have lost everything as I cannot afford this!!!

2003 clio Ignition flashing on and off

Hi,



My girlfriend went to start her car today and the ignition keeps flicking on and of when I go to turn the engine on. Also what I can only describe as a winding/clicking sound is coming from behind the dashboard when the ignition is turned on. Lasts for a couple of seconds then stops. I tried reseting the immobiliser but doesn't seem to work.



The engine doesn't start to turn over I just get a clicking noise.



Will test the battery voltage tomorrow. I'm going to check the relays in the fuse aren't corroded and go from there.

i need some help with a clio i bought

Hi people, i am new to this site and having trouble searching for all the required info i need for this car i bought a few days ago.



Its a Renault Clio Grande RN petrol on a Y plate which i believe is a 2001, as far i am aware its a 1.2 but i do not know how to tell whether its a 8v or 16v, also what oil does it require, if anyone can help me out on this it be a god send as i need to a head gasket and give it a complete full service. Im not afraid of engine work as i always work on my partners ford galaxy 2.3 recent job was replacing the water pump lol

Clio 1.2 2002 16v limp home mode

Hi all,



Occasionally my Clio is slipping into Limp home mode. It has done 72k miles, and has recently had new coil pack, ht leads and caps, and plugs, due to a slight misfire. ECU steel crash box area has been inspected previously and inso taped to stop arcing, and re inspected at garage and no issues were apparent.



I noted today however there seems to be a very small misfire when coming off the throttle at high revs, which is when this limp home mode issue is occurring. It is always accompanied by the heartbeat/coil warning light.



It is also idling a bit strangely, and occasionally and sometimes rhythmically the revs will drop to about 600rpm then pick up to about 800 for a few seconds, and the cycle repeats its self. It will also occasionally but rarely, cut out at low revs mainly when full lock steering is applied one way or other.



I have tried it on my cheapie code reader which has pulled some things up in the past, but no codes at all this time. I may try to get it into DDC at Doncaster for the DF codes to be read. I have tried a quick fix of squirting carb cleaner down the intake but to no avail.



I was wondering if the throttle body / tps sensor could be at fault, I know tps is bonded to throttle body on these but ideally don't want to spend loads replacing it if its not at fault. If this is case, can anyone advise also if the method in the haynes is any good to relearn the values, after fitting a new throttle body?

Replacement Clutch Slipping

Trafic LL29 sport dci115 2.0 6 speed manual 58reg



Hi all

my van had a new clutch fitted in november 2012 including plate,cover and release concentric slave cleaners and grease etc also the garage reported master cylinder pefectly servicable so not replaced.



Now some 20 months later and approx 23k miles the clutch is badly slipping again ?



Mainly motorway miles carrying mostly tools ladders etc not that heavy, not into wheelspins, resting foot on pedal or holding van on hills with clutch ?



any ideas does this seem fair enough ?

Laguna III 2.0 (58) anti pollution filter warning

Hi guys, hope you can help here?



I'm checking on behalf of my aunt, she has a 58 plate Laguna III 2.0 petrol and the anti pollution filter warning is showing!



No loss of performance as far as I know or increased fuel consumption, again as far as I know.



From a little reading I have heard that perhaps a run down the motorway for a few miles with high revs in say 3rd gear can help to burn off sooty deposits, is that correct?



I'm also thinking of looking at fuel filter / air filter anyway as service is due, these changes may help or not?

Obviously a code reader would be helpful to help diagnose, is there a map of any Renault owners with the required software that could help somewhere for beer money?



Other things to check I guess could be coils, plugs and or 02 lambda sensors?



Hope to hear from any knowledgable Renault guys to help me out.

The vast majority of my mileage is motorway/A roads, so the gearbox is not over-used. Recently, at just 80,000 miles, the gearbox failed suddenly (fortunately just after a long motorway journey)... End result, a bill for over 3000 Euros (I was in France when it happened), equivalent to over £2600. I have never had a gearbox failure before on any car in 40 years of driving. This does not seem normal to me, given the relatively low mileage of the car, and it's use mainly in a non-urban environment. Has anyone else experienced a (costly) gearbox failure on a Megane?

Espace II, wheel sizes

I've got one of the last Espace II's on the road, bought for £300 three years ago.

It tyres need replacing soon, probably before winter. 195/65R14 are becoming harder (and therefore more expensive) to replace. Upgrading to a 16" wheel and far more common (cheaper) 205/55R16 tyres - as well as looking a wee bit better.

Has anyone done this? What are the pitfalls to look out for? Will be using black steel wheels, what width should i use?

Trafic LL29 Intermittent ROS Indicator Issue

Just wondering if there's a known weak point in the loom on the LL29? I have an intermittent fault on the rear offside inidcator. Sometimes it works fine and the rest it doesn't. I've checked again and again and can't find the break or bad connection.



So far I've:



Checked loom continuity as far as the loading area bulkhead - fine.

Checked the bulb holder - fine.

Changed the bulb twice.



When it doesn't work I cannot detect any voltage at the cluster. Short of running a new cable from the side repeater, which involves a lot of interior trim removal and trying to get through the bulkhead near the bonnet release, I'm running out of patience and ideas.



I hate admitting defeat and handing over money to spanner monkeys............

Trafic steering issue

Hi all this my first post so hope you guys and galls can help me.

I have a trafic 1.9 dci.

When driving if i apply power the van pulls to the right and when i release the throttle it runs to the left.

Its quiet a worrying feeling and seems to be worsening.

Any ideas?

Grand Espace Leak-Power steering Fluid???

Hi All



Well im back with more issues with my Grand Espace!!



I have been told the steering rack needs to be replaced ( it does feel very 'loose' when driving and I can hear a grinding/whining noise when turning the wheel) but yesterday I noticed that a leak seems to have appeared.Its on the drivers side and looking underneath the car i can see where its dripping off but I am not convinced this is the actual leaking point.



The fluid looks a light brown/amber colour but when I put cardboard on the floor the patch was just clear (not dark like i assume oil looks) it does not have any smell to it.



So could it be power steering fluid leaking from the steering rack or could it be brake fluid or diesel or anything else??



It only started yesterday and seems to leak when car stopped on drive after being driven. It is not gushing out and seems to start about 30 minutes after stopping it then stops after a bit.



Any ideas would be appreciated.

MK2 megane short circuit sound

Hi folks......ive had a quick look through search but cant find an answer



Ive got a megane MKII 2004 diesel



On cold mornings, every morning.....and on the occasional warm morning if ive not used the car for a day or 2 theres a funny short circuit sound coming from the right hand side of the steering column when the car turns over



It lasts for the time the car takes to fire up then it stops



Its hard to decribe the sound.....but almost like a short circuit noise....electrical hissing



When this happens odo, mpg, fuel used etc resets to zero



Any ideas as to what this is?

New or fix existing keycard

I have a Megane II 04 model. I have been getting the card not detected for over a week.

With a little bit of fiddling around the car detects the card.

I understand that a lot of the time it because the sensor is loose due to use of the keycard.

I have looked at fixing the card myself but don't feel confident.

I am thinking of looking at repair companies or otherwise getting another keycard.



I am based in Birmingham and are looking for recommended companies that can repair or can replace for a good price.

what phase (ph) is my car?

I have a Renault Clio sport 1.4 year 2000.



Can anyone help me as i need a new cluster and connector.



I originally noticed i had a disco going on at the rear of my car when i was indicating and braking at the same time, so after research I went looking for a earthing issue and noticed that my driver rear side cluster and connector was rusted and pretty corroded so its time for a replacement (it is temporally ok as i sanded rust off).



I am struggling to find out what part i need due to the phases for example i was under the impression my car was a mk2 phase 2, however im seeing mk2 phase 1`s for 2000 and mk2 phase 2 for 2000 so im a little confused.



as always any help will be much appreciated :-)

Key Card Holder

Hi Everyone, I am new to the forums, I have a question after searching for hours on the internet, The ignition key card holder on my 04 Laguna Estate

has come loose inside and I am trying to find a tutorial or manual on how I can tighten this up. Does anyone have any links or can point me in the right direction.

Espace iv start button -vs- Megane Scenic start button

I have recently bought a couple of cars.... as you do.

An 05 Megane Scenic

An 55 Espace Dynamique



Both have the card key



On the Megane, you have to press the clutch/brake then press the start button briefly and then it starts itself.

On the Espace, you stick the card in, if you press the start button the ignition comes on then you have to press and hold the button in to get the engine to crank.

(you don't have to press any foot pedals in)



Does this sound right?

What is this part?

I noticed today that this part seems like it should have a vacuum tube attached on the right, but it doesn't. It has two tubes attached on the left, the other side. Am I missing a tube?

I need these pipes

Can anyone help me with where to get these pipes that have the connector on the end to go into the bulkhead? One burst (right hand one in image) so I joined it, but better to have a whole new thing I think.







Secondly, how can I disconnect these pipes? One of these three 'T' junction pipes seems thin in one area like it will burst a hole soon so I'd like to change it, but I don't know how those connectors work.

Clio drive shaft

Does anyone know why some Clio's have an anti-vibration damper on the offside drive shaft and others do not.

My son has a 51 plate DCI which has developed a vibration type rattle at low speed. The only thing I can find is the anti-vibration damper in the middle of the offside drive shaft appears to be in poor condition.

Does anyone know what would happen if I removed it?



Or do I have to replace the shaft?

Window partially opens

The rear nearside window of my Espace only opens about half way.

The operation of lowering and raising the window is ok.



Any ideas how to reset so the window lowers fully to match the opposing window?

humming noise at 30mph .... bearing ?

Hey guys my 04 Clio dynamique 1.2 16v has developed an annoying humming sound that I can hear through the car. I've no play at all in the steering and when I move my head around it sounds like its from the rear of the car.



I've tried the swerve test and I'm getting no change in pitch only a change when on different road surfaces but all tyres look good.



I've took a recording from the front and rear and I can hear the humm more from the back



Someone said diff sound but I'm not sure I'm really thinking bearings



What's your thoughts guys

Help rear window electric window stuck down

Hi all in urgent need of help.



The o/s rear electric window hasn't worked since I've had my car, so I took off the door panel to see if the cable was off and found the motor unplugged?



So I plugged it back in and without touching a switch it went half way down by itself now won't go back up

2014 Renault Clio, Manual Headlight Adjustment

Hi Guys



I have recently purchased a new Ranault Clio. The car is great but in my opinion the headlights are set far far too low. I have naturally tried to adjust them in the cabin but that is no good.



I have had a look in the light compartment and all I can see for adjustment is a white stalk which you would adjust with a socket. Is this the right manual adjustment item? If not how do I do?



I understand all about using the wall and chalk etc I just need to know how to adjust it in the car itself.

Renault Grand Espace Mk4 Gearbox Slipping

Dear experts and all.



I have purchased a Renault Espace mk 4 2.0v T at the beginning of 2014 . The gear box started to slip and the garage where i bought it from took the car back and replaced the box.



However now the same thing is happening again. There is a whining noise when starting from cold and its slips when cold. Once the engine / car is warm the slipping seems to stop. However if i go around a roundabout then it will seem to come out of gear as though it was slipping even when warm.



So my thoughts are that the oil needs replacing. I would welcome any other thoughts

Battery, electrics or other? (Laguna II)

Hello, I have an 04 Laguna II dynamique 1.9 diesel.



Battery and electrics all fine until about a week ago, lights were accidentally left on overnight and drained the battery completely flat. We charged it and managed to get it running enough to drive it half an hour to get charge in. It was fine the next day but only used on a short run. The following morning it wouldn't start. We've been charging as much as possible since, but then overnight the charge disappears. A mechanic I spoke to said maybe electrical fault that's draining it. Charged for a few hours yesterday, battery read full, left it disconnected over night, completely flat this morning.



So is it the battery? Trying to sell it as we've bought something else so don't want to spend loads on a battery if it won't fix it!

air con stopped working

wonder if anyone can give me some tips on whats the likely problem,as im stumped.its a a 2001 clio 1.9 dti.bought it 3 months or so ago.

the air con worked fine when i tried it a couple times and one side of the pipes freezing,as id read it should.

but ive then not used for a month or two and now it doesnt cool the air at all and the pipe doesnt get freezing any more.

however the clutch on the pump works fine when the a/c button is pressed.i also touched a screwdriver to each of the bleeder valves and seems to be very high pressure in the pipes.

there is a small metal drum a couple inches long which one pipe enters and exits.i have noticed the odd bead of yellow liquid at one of the joints here.there is however no sign of leaked liquid below it and still high pressure in the pipes.any suggestions much appreciated as i cant afford garages.

Earlier today, my Clio 2 DCI was taking longer to start, starter sounded slower. Tonight starter just clicks and power seems to have drained. When I jump start it it fires up, also started bumping it. The power is iffy though and lights stop working power steering goes heavy etc, put another battery in but same problem. Any ideas??

Grand Scenic II Rear Shock Absorber replacement

Hi All,



My Grand Scenic II (2004) just failed its MOT due to leaking rear shock. Garage wanted £250 parts and labour to replace both sides. While not unreasonable I looked and found Monroe replacements for £80 a pair so decided to do it myself.



A very simple job taking approx half hour per side once all required tools gathered at the car side. I've made a simple video detaiing the job and uploaded it to youtube:

Tools needed are:

Socket set with 10mm, 16mm and 18mm sockets

Axle stand

T2 Torx driver

Torque wrench

Bottle or trolley jack (not essential)
