My 1999 Megane Scenic has developed a weird issue with central locking on the front two doors.
Note: The rear doors and boot work normally when locking and unlocking.
Troubleshooting has revealed the following:
When car is unlocked and pressing the button on the key:
- the driver's door locks every time.
- the front passenger door locks only sometimes. When this happens I have to either use the key manually or keep unlocking and locking with central locking until it's locked.
When car is locked and I press the button to unlock, things are a bit more complicated:
- The front passenger door sometimes unlocks. If it fails to unlock you either have to open it from the inside or manually use the key in the lock.
- The front drivers side opens but ONLY if you pull the handle within about 1 second of unlocking. If you are too slow then either it opens a tiny bit but is jammed, or it remains locked. It appears the door is unlocking for only a second and then locking itself again.
I can post a video if anything is unclear!
I would be grateful for any suggestions or ideas. I'll have time over Christmas to try fixing it myself if anyone has any tips on what parts need to be replaced.
