Hello,
My first post here, apologies if there is a similar thread to this already, I've been searching the forum but can't find a solution to my particular problem.
I have a 2007 Renault Clio 1.2. Just after Christmas, the windscreen wipers stopped working entirely. I took it to my local garage who diagnosed a broken wiper motor. They replaced that, and the wipers worked fine for a couple of weeks, but then started stopping and started and generally being unreliable. For example, the intermittent function wouldn't work at all, and the continuous function would work for a few seconds and then freeze up, or they'd work and then remain on after I'd switch them off.
My local garage suggested it might be something to do with the body control module unit(s) but that they couldn't sort that themselves, so. I then took the car to a Renault specialist (not an actual Renault garage) who looked at the unit and cleaned up all the connections (there was corrosion on some of them). I tested the wipers when I picked up the car and they were fine. They worked perfectly until two days later, when they went back to stopping and starting.
Specialist is now suggesting I might need to have one of the Body control modules replaced but this seems extreme for faulty wipers? Would I be better off getting an official Renault garage to look at it to be on the safe side?
Has anyone else had experience of this? I'd be very grateful for any advice you can give or thoughts you can share.
