Brake / Starting Fault

I would appreciate it greatly if anyone could shed some light on an issue my father is experiencing with his 2006 Renault Espace 2.2 DCI Dynamique.

He drove to Kent from Bournemouth last Friday to see family. On the way there, he had an over-heating issue. Greenflag turned up and found a loose hose. All fixed, so off he went.

When he went to start the car on Sunday early evening, it would not start. Greenflag turned up. Battery was fine, all electrics worked, but car just would not start. Greenflag thought it may be the 150 amp battery fuse or relay? As they could not source one, the car was put on the back of a flat-bed and driven back to Bournemouth.

The problem he has now is that the brake pedal (which I understand is pressed down to engage the starting of the car) will not press down?

Does anyone know what the hell is going on here?
