Diesel stop solenoid

Hi own a renault scenic rx4 1.9dci and I believe my stop solenoid has packed in as there is no fuel feeding the rail and have tested the soleniod via battery live and I don't have any sounds or movement. My question is, Can I do anything to the faulty solenoid to make fuel run the the engine? Or is it just a case of a replacement.. However I've read that they do seem to cause a regular issue so wondered whether I could just adapt the broken one or does it definatly need a replacement to function??
