I bought the VelSatis in UK and drove down to Ibiza in Spain where I live. It was an amazing experience with loads of room, 3 kids in the back - happy days!
After 6 months I started noticing the car was losing power and noticing loads of abnormal black smoke coming from the exhaust. Next day saying oil pressure low on the dashboard.
When I opened the bonnet oil was everywhere and after cleaning the engine I noticed the dipstick was out so I thought that was the problem that the dipstick wasn't in properly. I topped it up to the max and pushed the dipstick back in. Starting the car and ran it for 5 minutes and the dipstick was pushing back up with pressure.
Took it to the Renault garage for a diagnostics and they said the turbo charge cartridge needs to be replaced and reason why the turbo oil seals push the pressure back into the engine thus pushing out the oil.
The car sat for 6 months and finally got it together to get a turbo ordered from UK re-conditioned turbo checked the number etc. Yesterday I put the turbo back on, cleaned the inter-cooler, cleaned all the pipe fittings, changed the oil and filter, put castrol graded oil recommended for this particular engine, started the car and it started up immediately but notice a massive cloud of white smoke coming through the exhaust. Car parked engine running test to see if there was no oil pushing back and there was no oil pushing through dipstick. Oil maintains level.
I called back the Turbo Dealer and explain the problem with the white smoke and he said to run the car stationery for 2 hours which I did. Before 2 hours the oil light flashed on saying low oil, so I switched the engine off and went under to see if there was any oil leak couldn't see anything. Take off back the inter-cooler pipe that I had just cleaned and I notice there was brand new oil showing on my cloth. Check under the car again and could see from flex pipe oil dropping through the joint connection and no oil on the dipstick when I checked.
Does anybody have any idea what could cause this? Please? I am about to take off the turbo to send back to UK but would like to avoid this if anybody has any experience with the same problem or suggestion what could cause these please let me know. Very gratefully!!
