02 kangoo mpv airbag

hi there im looking at removing the passenger airbag on my 02 kangoo mpv and replace it with a glove box ,as storage is limited
when I fit the new glove box and remove the air bag will it leave the air bag light on ,or is there a way of doing this to stop this happening
