2002 Laguna II V6: Movement in Steering Rack.

Hi all,

So, driving the wifes Laguna the other day and I noticed the steering felt very slack.

Jacked up the front today to check all balljoints for movement, and I can see "Movement" on the inner bellows. Near the rack.

So either the rack is worn. Or I understand the Inner tie-bars also have balljoints in them ?.
The car only has 72,000 miles on it, so I would not think the rack is worn.

Do these inner Tie bar joints wear often ?.

Also, does anyone know if the V6 has the same rack as other engine models ?.
And can the rack be removed while the engine is still in the car ?. If this actually turns out to be the issue.
I hope not as I can barely see the rack, let alone think about having to remove it. Could be a real nightmare.
