We have an '08 Clio III Dynamique 2.0 16v (M4R engine) that seems to be using oil. it was serviced in October '13 at 37,000 miles after which it's oil consumption was negligible. It was then serviced in November '14 at 42,000 miles since when it has been using oil requiring regular top up's over the 3000 miles covered since.
It has been regularly serviced using the correct spec oil and filter.
Any ideas why it should now apparently be burning oil? It is definitely not leaking and I find it hard to believe that it is down to wear in the cylinders or valve guides as the engine feel every bit as crisp and punchy as it did before, also the fuel consumption has not been affected.
It's also a bit strange that it seems to have started using oil directly after the last service though the correct filter and oil spec was used (Shell Helix to Renault spec RN710).
Could it be a blocked crankcase breather or an EGR related problem?
