Hi, I recently bought a 2006 Clio 1.6 for the Mrs, I got it cheap so expected a few niggles. But one in particular is confusing me.
The car starts first time every time, and once rolling runs sweet as a nut. But it just seems to me to be lacking a serious amount of torque for a 1.6, I've had smaller engine clio's in the past with more guts. If you try to creep just on the clutch, it stalls so easily, I've never had a car that can't reverse down my drive or creep along in traffic just on the clutch before this one, and as a result the Mrs who is learning to drive stalls it all the time, it needs a good 2000rpm to pull away smoothly and not bog down. I have serviced the car with new oil/filters/plugs, and removed the inlet manifold for a good clean to no avail. Was hoping somebody might be able to shed some light or point me in a direction I hadn't considered.
On another quick note, I had a new clutch fitted a the old was shot, it does not slip but bites right at the top still, I've heard a few rumours this is normal but just wondered if this could be backed up.
Thanks in advance,
Andy.
