Drivers door central locking not working

Hi group, I've recently acquired a 2000 x reg kangoo van, the remote central locking operates the back & passenger door but the drivers won't operate. Our local key cutting guru advised me that the door module may be at fault. I attempted to remove the door card today and got as far as the window winder which I can't get off. I felt inside the door and felt what seemed like a box with wires emanating from it. Is there an idiots guide to removing the module that operates the door latch, can anyone direct me towards a replacement unit. Thanks in advance group, Otto in sunny West Cumbria
