Espace overheating

Hi all,

Our problems started on a 120 mile trip a couple of months ago, we arrived at our destination and found brown sludge in the expansion tank. A helpful fellow caravanner helped us to flush the system, reseal it with kseal and refill with coolant. All seemed ok after that. We had it pressure tested when we got home and we were told the pressure was fine but the cap was faulty so we replaced it. Prior to this we knew we needed a new air inlet manifold so it went into a local Renault specialist to replaced, at that point we realised water was still pushing out of the expansion tank cap. The pipes (sorry no idea on correct term) are hard and difficult to press at all (possibly over pressurising?). The Renault specialist diagnosed an airlock and after messing with it it seemed ok again, but we still have the same problem. The car is not over heating fully, it goes upto 6 bars on the gauge on the motorway and 4 bars when driving around shorter journeys locally but still when we lift the bonnet there is some liquid coming out of the cap. The heater works, but only from 26 deg upwards, on 25 it blows cold. There is no emulsion in the oil or water. The water is blue as you'd expect.

So now he thinks it's possibly a thermostat, I'm going to surce an aftermarket one and see if hubby can do it as we've spent a fortune already on a turbo. calipers, inlet manifold, servicing, air flow meter, egr valve....

What else could it be?

how do I find out if it's a head gasket or cracked head?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer
