Ignition barrel replacement

Hi

Hoping someone can help. The spring has gone in my 05 Trafics ignition barrel and won't click back after starting. I was hoping I can replace it with one from a scrappy and just swap the transponder thing over and change the metal key bit in my fobs! Will this work or will I just open an expensive can of worms!!
