Laguna 2 electric window fault

One of the rear windows on my 2005 Laguna 2 has developed a fault.

When fully closed and you press the button to make it go "up" there is a rattling noise for a second or two like a mini pneumatic drill.

I think there must be a sensor that detects resistance when the window is either shut or has hit an obstacle and that has failed so the next failsafe is the motor skips when there is too much resistance?

Also the window only goes up or down in small stages and I cannot reset this in the usual way holding both window buttons up - when I try I get the rattling noise again.

Any ideas or suggestions please? Is it a case of swapping out the motor?
