My first thread here, a lovely useful place.
I bought Megane 2005 1.6 16V (M4K) at 198000 KM three weeks ago with some problems.
Please note that I drive around rarely, and live in KSA, a hot country. Until now I used less than one and half full tank.
These are the problems and phenomena:
1) A/C is not working because of the compressor's clutch and pulley from sound, will try to upload a video.
2) When bought there was a sign of small oil leakage under the right side of engine( belt side). The sensor when starting engine says oil level ok + manual check of oil confirmed that!!
3)Two weeks ago, I got check gearbox while driving carelessly hehe -_-", I stopped turned it of and on and it's gone for ever, a checked with OBDII and found error code P0340: Camshaft position sensor A circuit.
4) The car is "drinking" a lot of water, where does it go from the radiator? Faced overheating only once the first time discovering that.
5) when starting engine at first it gives a sound of rattling and signs of failed dephaser as I knew from this forum and youtube.
6) Just two days ago, I faced another problem.
While driving and when pressing the pedal, I get delay until response, was about 5 seconds. Now it sometimes responds immediately but with poor acceleration and/or jumping like there is miss-firing or one cylinder is not burning signs.
Possible causes and fixes:
For 1) a mechanic said to change the pulley+coil"not sure what is coil" +clutch = the other half of the compressor, another mechanic recommended to change it all to make sure = $$$.
2) I think maybe from dephaser.
3) Not sure, will clear errors tomorrow and see, I think nothing or camshaft dephaser solenoid " hope nothing, it costs a lot"
4)water pump maybe related and will change with dephaser and belt.
5) Dephaser for sure.
6) I think the dephaser leading to wrong timing.
Conclusion:
Will buy and change timing belt kit + dephaser pulley + water pump.
Questions:
Should I change the camshaft dephaser solenoid? I'm trying to avoid it, it's too expensive.
How to make sure of the cause?
I am aiming to order the needed parts ASAP, found good prices in UK, Poland and Russia.
I'm trying to avoid any unnecessary cost as a uni student who's out of cash
