2001 renault clio grande 2.1 . intermittent speedo

Hi there everyone I have looked everywhere to try and solve my problem but have had no luck . I have even searched through a haynes manual but still no luck. If anyone could offer advice id be greatful, the speedo on my 2001 clio grande keeps dropping out . One minute it can work perfectly fine and the next minute it will drop to 0 and not move at all. It also bounces up and down sometimes . When it happens there is no warning lights showing and no indication anything is wrong at all . I have seen online that it could be the speed sensor but I have changed the sensor and the fault persists also, also when the speedo drops out it stops clocking the milage :/ . Im ripping my hair out here . Any other ideas?
