Before today my car used to have a rough idle most of the time and on occasion seemed to lack a bit of power. Cleaning the EGR valve is on my list of things to do but was near the bottom. Today it has elevated itself to the top! I now have 'Check Emissions' message, service light and engine light illuminating my cabin in a warm orange and brilliant blue.
What's interesting to me is that immediately I have noticed the tick over is smooth and quiet, theres more power than it has ever seemed to have during my ownership and the engine just seems happier. I can ignore the lights but will the MOT inspector? I have only had it back from the garage for a week having had the front suspension sorted and its booked in next week for the cam belt. It's due a service in December (every 9000 for me) and I need to buy all the bits for that yet. Money is definitely short at the moment. I'm tempted to blank it off as its running so well but how can I get rid of the messages?
