Hi guys, I wondered if someone could help, or give me some advice.
My wife has a 2003 Scenic 1.6, and over the last year or so has had problems trying to start it. It also seems like a flat battery or sluggish starter.
So I replaced the battery. It wouldn't start again so after the AA tested it, they said it needed a new alternator. I tested this myself and agreed, so I replaced that also.
We think the starter motor is faulty as sometimes on the first turn it will not start but on the second key turn, or after rolling it abit, it will start.
However I am concerned there maybe another fault, as in sometimes it seems like something is draining the battery.
As an example:
Friday was the last time the car was used. Monday morning it fails to start, when I get home I test the battery at 12.5V (is this because the wife tried to start it and drained the battery?) I remove battery and fit another, it fires up, but it sounds like such a slow sluggish start. The alternator is charging at 14.8V ish.
So do I have a battery drain issue and/or a starter motor issue? It is such and **** as the starter is right at the back under everything.
