Renault Grand Scenic 1.6 DCI Dynamique 2005 five speed petrol, 5 speed manual
Hi all,
I am currently in deep pooh, concerning two broken cable end fittings. I need to know if these are interchangeable with the 'squeeze and release' type...........
I am having the pleasure of changing the clutch and slave cylinder - we all know what a joy that is.
Referring to the *aynes manual, I went to release the gear linkages from the top of the gearbox. The manual clearly stated to:
".......squeeze together the orange catches and lift the cable ends off....."
section 7A.3 4.5
.....and had clear photos, that there were bushes with orange clips, that when pressed together released themselves from the transmission lugs.
Trouble was, the bushes looked nothing like this. They were slightly off white/green and solid, with no releases. I managed to release both gearbox linkages, but both bushes cracked...............
A trip to Renault proved these bushes are not available seperately and I had might have to buy the whole gear selector cabling, £148.:(
Worse still, to remove the whole mechanism, you need to de-charge/recharge the air con gas (not a DIY job) remove the whole heater assembly and cut the exhaust pipe in two places. This whole mularkey is almost as much hassle as changing the clutch..........
Two questions:
1. Does anyone have part numbers for the orange cable end fittingas and are they interchangeable with what broke on my car?
2. Do you really have to remove the heater assembly to feed the new gear change cables in?
Any help would be much appreciated. This job has me absolutey fuming, like all Renault matters.
