Knock from front N/S suspension

Hi there



I am new to this forum and also am a novice mechanic.



My wife's car Scenic 1.5 dci 2005 has a knock from the n/s suspension every time we go over the humps in our road. I had the wheel off for a look today and could find no visible signs of something wrong.



I put the wheel back on and bounced on the n/s above the wheel to try to replicate the knocking. While there was some noise coming from that side, what I did notIce was that I could bounce that side much easier than the o/s.



My question would be could this be the front strut and would that cause a knocking sound over bumps? Also I would like to attempt as much of the repair work as I can so that I get more experience, would this be feasible? Is there anything I should look out for?



One last question about the connector for starting the car using the clutch, can anyone tell me where I can get a replacement as the wire coming from it have snapped?
