Hi Ours is a 2001 scenic Monaco 1.9dCi which we have had for seven years. 109,000 on the clock. Always been as good as gold. Cam belt changed on schedule.
About 18 months ago off road for 5 months. On restarting noticed a smell of diesel exhaust and on return from trips, never had this before BUT also seemed to be loss of power on hill and sometimes when accelerating.
Sometimes this seems fine at others bad. Had the sensor in the air mass meter changed but after initial improvement back to square one.
Diagnostics show one pre heater faulty and possibly the control unit. The warning light used to come on occasionally but not for some time. I am told this is not the problem with the power loss? The car starts perfectly in the cold.
Other people have suggested it is the injectors? I can see no diesel leaks.
So any ideas. This car is no where near as sprightly as it used to be, the smell is annoying and I expect indicates un-burned diesel ; I am beginning to despair.
