Renault Grande Scenic 2006 (petrol/auto)

I have today fitted a new heater/blower resistor and loom as the fan in my Grande Scenic did not work on some settings. I replaced these items from heaterblowerresistors.co.uk (very good £49). Once fitted the items work perfectly apart from I now have a smell through the vents like anti freeze/radiator water.
In addition to this I found a factory fit (pink/brown & white) wires with a factory fit end which was not attached.
I wondered if anyone has experienced the same??
If you have and can provide a remedy I would be very grateful of any help
