Dashboard failing

The dashboard in the car is sometimes blinking on and off, sometimes it goes completely dark, sometimes it just fades. It does this at 60mph and it does it while you're sitting in traffic. Figures like the fuel range go crazy and obviously can't be trusted. The rest of the car seems to work. Sometimes the beep sound of the key fob locking the doors is made even when driving along. Wife finding it a bit stressful at the moment.

Any ideas gentlemen?

automatic climate control clio dynamique s 2014

Can anyone explain to me how automatic climate control works, do i leave air vents open or close them,when i set and use manually, then click auto button nothing seems to change, the lights on temp dial stays the same,fan never comes on, never seems to warm the car when cold outside, always have to raise temp manually,car windows steam up if windows are shut,should that happen in auto mode, only clear when i hit clearview button.

[SIZE="<font><font>3</font></font>"]Two weeks ago I bought my 2nd megane ii 2007 dci. Loved my first one and when it got totalled, I purchased same again.
long story short, the issues recorded by service history are drivers window regulator, this is the 3rd one installed.. 1st time at 70k, again at 108k, and again at 141k, the other things I noted were the previous owners, had made a complaint to Renault dealer about the boot light, asked that it be left without a bulb.. HMMM??
The drivers side headlight had melted so badly it has a "winky eye" look to it. I have attached photos of that one. its had the transmission solenoid done under warranty, it has had the steering arm replaced at about 120k and then @ 131k the drive shaft spline stripped apparently. for my roadworthy, they had to replace the front tyres as they were worn on the inside. { I will need to keep my eye on that- not sure if its a side affect of the front end work, or if there is an underlying problem} it drives smooth and straight, so not a wheel balance or alignment issue. Someone had also turned of the MIL warning about the EGR valve as it was making a hell of a racquet.And when I connected to the diagnostics, it had registered EGR previously and said it was was pending again??
I had a brand new EGR from my other car, so I fitted that immediately, and am cleaning the other one for 50k rotations. this engine work I performed on car with battery still connected as I didn't have radio code, and still no MIL registered or needed clearing. {which it did on my old one}I'm a bit suspicious about that. :confused::confused:
I shood mention It has a factory towbar fitted as well.

Ok now to the immediate drama, I thought I would put the bulb back in the boot as it really would be handy to see in there at night. BIG MISTAKE.:eek:
immediately the wipers came on and wouldn't turn off, check auto light was on dash, and no internal lights worked, no map lights or door lights. I had to manually turn off wipers, and I removed the boot light immediately. but still no internal lights.
What do u guys think??
Is she a big electrical lemon??Is this kind of drama gonna be ongoing? doesn't look promising from the service history??
or is this something I can handle and it will be another experience with knowledge gained..[/SIZE]

Hi Guys, I have a Renault scenic 2004 reg. Yesterday I parked up and my 'miles range' started going down from 76 miles to 46 miles in around 2 minutes. I started driving again and this started creeping up again. I stopped at a traffic lights and it went down again at a pace!

Megane privilege saloon - electronics - boost pressure

Hi
Yesterday I got the "check injection" or "check injectors" warning intermittently, so I went to a friendly garage to get diagnostic. They found that it was the boost pressure sensor, and said it would be either the wiring or the sensor or both.....

Any idea of cost for this to be fixed? Don't want to get ripped off, my car seems to be a money pit as it is and I am feeling sad!!

hi all got a problem with my cd changer lead for some reason somebody has cut the wires right were the plug goes into my stereo therefore i don't know whether it works or not? I don't see why they just didn't disconect it .so im asking has anybody got one that they have removed instead of me paying full price because i don't know if it works or not thanks for reading andy

Scenic 3 dci black/grey smoke

Hi all,

Over the last few weeks I have noticed excessive black/grey smoke coming from the exhaust of my Scenic under hard acceleration. I've already changed the air filter using a genuine Renault filter which hasn't made any difference. There are no engine warning lights on at all and I'm still getting great MPG with no power loss which makes me think the injectors are ok. It also starts on the button cold and hot. I have also tried an EGR cleaning spray as well. Has anyone encountered the same problem and can suggest what I check next? It's a 1.5dci 106.

Scenic 2 1.5d spluttering! help

Hi guys wondering if you can shed some light on my 53 plate scenic 2... so here goes

Had 2 injectors replaced and coded... week later oil pressure light came on so I replaced sensor and done a oil change... that same night it started spluttering under acceleration in 1st 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear.... it got so bad that it cut out and I broke down...

Pulled over restarted fine went to pull away cut out straight away... low voltage warning... next day scanned it .. 3 codes... pre heat... ac refrigerant and sensor feed voltage to low...

Replaced battery cleared codes.. still chugs

Reset egr adaptations drove car about 30 seconds down the road cut out...

On the live data (snap on modis ultra) with the car running the battery volts peaked at 48v.... with it off and ignition on it peaked 54... after turning it off and re checking it went from 2v up to 54v ??? Any ideas on why it loses power to the point of stalling

Laguna 2.2 dci 2003 heating problems

Hello. As the winter gets closer , I noticed my 2003 laguna 2.2dci is not heating the interior as it used to.
It's pretty weird actually , sometimes it heats really good , sometimes it heats when it reaches 30% of motor temperature , and sometimes when it heats it stops heating and blows cold air.
Also I noticed that sometimes the dashboard where you control temperature etc shows it's working , but no air is being blown in. Then I stop the car and start it again and it works again.
What could be the issue here? How to fix it? Please advise , I'm driving cold every morning :crazy:

2003 1.2 16v Clio - flat spot and wheeze

Today,whilst driving from cold, my sons Clio temporarily lost power, spluttered and then recovered but felt a bit flat on initial acceleration. Back home we've checked it out and it starts fine and idles smoothly but on acceleration the engine briefly flat spots whilst a short wheezing sound is heard from the rear top section of the inlet manifold. there is another thread on here highlighting the same issue but no clear cause or fix is mentioned. I should say that the car had been running fine before being left for a week without use. Any help or advice is much appreciated. Cheers

I have changed the headunit to an aftermarket one in my 2010 mk3 clio but the radio reception is now poor.

I think the 12V feed to the antenna base may have been lost.

I would be grateful if someone could tell me where the antenna gets the 12V feed from to save me having to remove the roof lining?

I assume its one of the wires in the harness plug in the back of the radio but which one?

Hi all,
So a couple of months ago I crashed my car (2008 Clio Campus - so still the mark II model) the air bags didn't deploy but ever since the airbag light and service light has been on. I have changed the Airbag ECU, Pretensioner and checked the cabling under the seats and still no luck. Using a diagnostic tool I have been given an error code of "91 - airbag locking switch open or short circuit to battery" I can find nothing relating to this on the internet so i dont know where to even start, hoping someone can shine some light on me...

Heater Control Illumination (bulbs)

Hello,

I have a 2005 Laguna Sport Tourer. Two of the bulbs have stopped working that light up the heater control panel. I have had the unit out. There are three bulbs. The middle one is working. Renault say I need to buy the whole unit for £130.00 plus VAT. The bulbs are cased in a blue sleeve that twist into place on the circuit board. You have to push it out the back to release it. The bulb is attached to the housing. I pulled the bulb out but that broke the connection so I can just push a new one in.

I have searched the internet and been to car parts suppliers with no luck.

Has anyone got any ideas or found a fix?

Espace 3.5 V6 Auto to Manual conversion

Hi new to the site and I am probably going to ask the impossible! I have a 2004 Grand Espace 3.5 V6 and it is a beautiful rare car but I hate the auto gearbox. Can a manual conversion be done? Yes I know it involves not only the box but the pedals, master cylinder, ecu etc but was wondering if there are parts out there that would fit. Yes its a lot of labour too but would be carried out by myself and my mechanic friend. I think the car would be awesome with a manual box. I hope my first post tests you all!! Cheers

Hi I have just brought a cheap Renault scenic 1.9 dti.(NOW I KNOW WHY IT WAS CHEAP)
Its pressurising cooliant system.But no oil in water or water in oil.Just chucking out of expansion tank.How likely would this be a blocked radiator as it does not over heat according to car temp gauge.It was running for two hours not a prob and pressurised only when driven.

Hi people

My other half has issues with her Kia Venga not demisting well whilst we have been having these wet days. She bought it used middle of this year and air con has always worked really well giving nice cold air so we are confused how this isn't helping clear the screen rapidly?! My Clio which I got recently has the modern luxury of air con haha, and I've been pleased to see my screen clears nice and quickly. I had my air con serviced when I got it as it wasn't working and needed re-gassing etc.
So anyway we are wondering what might be causing the slow mist clearance and what can be done? She even has put a dehumidifier bag in the car in case there is excess moisture within the car?

Hope someone can help?!

Which engine should I pick for a new Grand Scenic?

Hi this is my first post, sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I am looking to get a new Grand Scenic and I am not sure if I should pick the 1.6dci(130) or the 1.2TCE (also 130bhp) .

I currently have a 2007 Scenic II 1.6VVT and I find it
- a bit underpowered
- way too noisy at motorway speed.

Consumption doesn't bother me much, the mileage is not going to be high enough to make a big difference.

I am not going to pull anything or travel fully loaded often

It has to be quiet when doing long trips.

I am worried that too many short journeys would not suit the diesel this and it would take ages to warm up in winter.
Our usage varies a lot: 6x journeys less than 4 miles, 2x 30miles round trips on A roads; possibly one 90miles motorway round trip.

I don't care about service costs or resale value as I am going for a 3 years lease, in fact diesel is cheaper to lease (I save around £20/month) which is appealing.

Which should I pick?

Laguna sports tourer 2006 intermitant power loss

Hi I have a 2006 laguna sports tourer ii about 18 months ago I had the particulate filter removed and it has run perfectly since until a couple of months ago. occasionally it would lose power like it had gone into limp mode but no warning light. it is now getting more frequent in fact almost every day it will randomly lose power and then kick back in although the kicking back in is getting less and less. Any idea's would be much appreciated.

Trafic poor power at low revs (solved)

2008 Trafic 1.9 diesel

Was running fine, then had new timing chain fitted and after that noticed no low down grunt / power under 2000 revs.

Thought at first chain maybe put on wrong. But did not look into that.

Then checked all air intake hoses for leaks. No difference
Then took off MAFF sensor and cleaned it. No difference
Then bought new turbo boost sensor. No difference
Then did injector bleed test. Found number 4 was leaking back.

So decided leaky injector was dropping pressure in common fuel rail causing lack of power.

Had to decide what to do and in end because mileage was high 260k not worth spending money on engine. Better to fit brand new engine.

Fitted new EGR valve with new engine and new Turbo.

No difference. Still lack of power at low revs :(

Only thing wasn't new at this stage was MAFF sensor.

Fitted new MAFF sensor. Sorted :)

ok long way round for short cut. But I have perfect running brand new engine. Lovely.

But recommend always try MAFF sensor. Even just borrow another one for a trial.

Clio rev 2000rpm constant - no throttle response

Ok so the wee clio was only on the road 2 days from having the wishbone replaced and now i have been hit with this problem which i don't have much clue about. Its a 1.2 2004 clio.

So it started a few months back when to test the clio out i give it heaps of rev then changed the gear and i mean it would be near maxxed on revs then change gear and the clio would stall and bring up this warning light (down below) that was my first encounter of this problem. after turning off and on the ignition the clio would run 100% unless i was to rev out each gear so didn't seem much of a problem to me.

I did a bit of offroading yesterday and got the underneath of the car quite muddy but no heavy hits or anything like that so today i did about 10 miles driving then went to start the car up from being at a shop and noticed this light appeared but it was driving fine. so about 10 miles later and the fuel tank near empty i parked up at a friends house for about 30 mins then went to start it up and the car has no throttle response and revs constant at 2000 rpm when i give the throttle a go the rev indicator drops as if taking off from the clutch. The engine management light is now also on after i disconnected the battery and put it back on.

I see a lot of different suggestions on other posts some quite pricey its quite surprising how it just decided to give up like that. URGENT HELP NEEDED. LAGUNA 2. 2.0 TURBO AUTOMATIC DYNAMIC.so I'm new so hi. OK the car smokes loads when driving it uses oil but no water. Feels sluggish like the turbo has failed I have not felt the turbo kick in but it gets red hot if driven. The actuator on the turbo seems stuck too. Do I need a new turbo ? multi changer lead problem

ok, so i've ended up with a broken cd multi changer lead. it's dated 2003 so i think it's tuner list (slightly mis-leading ebay advert)
there are some broken wires on the blue connector and 1 broken one on the green lead (obvious to correct that one)
does anyone have a diagram showing which colour goes where on the blue plug?

Espace Mk1V 3.0 dci 181hp

Hi, I have a strange issue with my espace, when engine is put under load it hesitates quite a bit between 2/3 thousand rpm, if I ease off a little I can drive through it but it still happens under any acceleration. I've put a new air flow meter on it, egr valve was clean but I've blanked it off anyway, there are no vacuum leaks and no leaks anywhere on inter cooler or pipes, no faults showing anywhere under diagnostics either.
I'm now completely stumped as to what's causing this.
Has anyone got any ideas I might have missed ?

Hi, can anyone tell me if the 'winch fitting' & spare wheel / space saver wheel for the Clio IV [1st registered March 2015] is the same as the Clio III? Just got this vehicle second hand for the wife and it only comes with the 'gunk' if she has a puncture. I would like to source a winch & spare wheel for her on the Isle of Man but as it is a newer model there are none available. So just wondering if it's the same as the Clio III which I can get hold of. Many thanks

Renault Clio 2001 1.2 16v, Immobiliser fault after changing ECU kit

Hey guys,

I'm having a problem with my 2001 Clio, 1.2 16v. I have recently changed the ECU along with the UCH and ignition sensor thing (as i had intermittent electrical faults with my wipers, windows and indicators etc) and now when I try to turn the engine over, with this new ECU kit in, nothing happens. The immobiliser light flashes fast when the key is turned on. The engine doesn't even try to turn over and there is just a click in the UCH box.

I have received the parts from a renault specialist and they all came from the same vehicle so they should not need re-coding. I was told it may have something to do with the "top injection wiring loom"..

any ideas? :(

Fume Filter System Warning Light

I have an 05 Megane II 1.9 CDI. The fume filter warning light keeps coming on, however, goes out after about 200 miles, but then comes on again about a 100 miles later for about 200 miles and so on and so on. That car does not seem to have a particulate filter. What could be the cause of this? Many thanks for any replies.

Carminat satnav needs replacing Espace IV

My satnav glitches for the first mins of every journey, especially first thing in the morning. After 5 mins it stays on and works fine until I switch off the engine. The problem seems to be the disk reader. The Renault garage cleaned the disk and ran some tests but cannot fix it. They tell me I need to replace the whole system for EUR 1,750! Has anyone had similar trouble or any suggestions?

Megane II high beam fuse

I have a 2007 Megane estate, My passenger side High Beam isn't working after removing whole light to clean. Tried new bulbs but still out. Where would I find the fuse for this? I have taken out engine multiplex but Haynes Manual numbers bare no resemblance to multiplex. Checked ALL 10 amp fuses in it but all ok.:crazy:

Megane 3 bump in seat

I have a megane 3 and there is a noticable bump/lump in the drivers seat, anyone any ideas what this is, is it a fault?

2007 Trafic ABS - DF011

I've just picked up a 2007 Trafic - low mileage, decent condition, but the ABS light is on (along with SERV, STOP and the brake warning light of course - was one light not enough for Renault?)

Fault code shows DF011 - Solenoid Valve Supply.

Reading the live data, everything seems fine - wheel speeds all read OK, but the "computer supply voltage" reads 0.00v - sometimes flicks up to 0.08v.

I checked all the wiring - the two wires from the battery seem fine and undamaged, and read battery voltage at the ABS ECU, and the feed via the 5A fuse in the passenger side of the dash also read battery voltage. I've checked and cleaned the two earth connections at the earth point above the ABS unit too (several times).

I've fitted another ABS unit with the same part number and still have the same fault.

I've tried to borrow a van (two) to swap ABS pumps, but neither had the same part number as mine does.

Any suggestions, because I'm out of ideas here.

hi have search this but still getting nothing, please help!

I have folded the back seats down and now can't get them back up on my Renault Megane 1.6 Vvt Dynamique 5Dr Petrol Estate
the middle rear seat belt jammed when seat is folded down and is preventing it from going back up,

is there a release button? or a method to deal with this?

any ideas are welcome as it will fail the MOT if we have to cut the seat belt.

I have just bought Renault Megane 1.4 16V Saloon and I want to change all filters on it.

I have ordered fuel filter and got something like this:



But my megane has some fuel filter like this:



As I can see these are the fuel filters for diesel engines, so did someone messed something up with this car and installed this type of filter or is this just housing for the first filter?

Stereo Upgrade - Clio 1.25 Dynamique 2003

Hey guys, sorry if this is in the wrong place. I've just bought my first car (can you guess what it is?) and I'm wanting to do the young driver clique and upgrade my stereo. Could anyone tell me what I'm gunna need (if I was to diy). I've heard of straight up replacement speakers but a lot of them say door speakers, and I was under the impression that the speakers are on the dash?? It would be brilliant if someone could give me an idea of what speaker I should be looking for.

(I have upgraded the stereo itself but I'm not sure of the exact model - Mutant with Bluetooth,aux,usb and sd card and I'm pretty sure it says 100x4watt or something along them lines)

ESPACE MKII Back Brakes Compatibility

Hi,

Car is a Renault Espace Mk II - Petrol.

The back brakes are drum type and the Haynes manual shows that they can be either Bendix or Girling.

From the images in the Haynes manual I appear to have the Girling type but I can only find Bendix available to buy.

The shop states the two products are interchangeable but also need the pistons changed as they are of differing size dependant on the manufacturer.

That the 2 manufacturers product would be interchangeable makes sense except for the fact that the images in Haynes show the point where the calipers fit at the bottom to be quite different.

Anyone know anything about this? I don't want to buy them - try to fit and then find I am stuck - as currrently travelling.

Scenic clutch bleeding problem

Help please, I've just replaced the clutch on my 2004 1.9 dci Scenic with a single mass kit but cannot get the clutch to bleed properly. I initially bled it using a syringe and drew the fluid through the slave bleed nipple. I tried to start the engine a few hours later. But the pedal went to the floor. I have tried forcing the fluid back through the resevoir from the nipple and power bled it twice but every time the pedal is spongy after a few hours or overnight. There is no signs of leaks at the M/cylinder but what is the best way to bleed it? It seems to me that is where the problem lies.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated

ECU or Multi timer unit renault clio 52 reg

getting confused now is the multi timer unit and the ECU the same thing or not and what is the BCM, having problems with central locking could be due to rain leak was planning on having a look at what i presumed was the ECU located behind the fusebox, i have looked through the haynes manual and it says that behind the fusebox is a multitimer unit and if the multitimer unit is disconnected then it has to be reprogrammed by a professional. the reason i'm getting confused is that i have been told that the ECU is located behind there so guys which is it ? and the main question is if i unplug whichever it is will my car need reprogamming sorry if i have confused anyone else.

Firstly I hope Im posting in the right section.

Have a foggy film on the outside of the windscreen whenever it gets wet. It has a pattern on it must be where the water has run down in the rain. Ive attached a photo.

Have tried scrubbing it using detergent, toothpaste as an abrasive and vinegar to try and break it up but nothing fetches it off.

I dont use wax to clean.

Are there any suggestions what might have caused it? And what I can use to try and get it off?

Renault Master sluggish

My Renault Master LM35 dci120 ex ambulance is really sluggish. Won't rev, was doing 15mph on a hill today ad no matter what gear it went into it was still slow and low revs. it has done it before and a bottle of redex resolved it for a while but now does it all the time. Then suddenly, it will get power back and be fine. Sometimes the gloplug light will come on around same time, sometimes it doesn't. Is it a fuel problem? Any ideas gratefully received!

Hi there " IT JUST WON'T START"

Just bought a Renault 19 1994 M reg 1.4 RTI, single point injection, with 43kmiles! on the clock. and with a lot of service history. 480.00 spent at last mot 1 year ago.
It as stood outside for a year . It was a little bit moist! Its battery showed 1volt. The electrics were dead . But all the electrics work now, windows mirrors sunroof etc.

It has an infra red remote central locking and immobiliser key, which I know is now working.

The central locking works.

There is also a central locking button on the dashboard. There is a little red flashing light on the steering column in front of the steering wheel.

There is a key and key switch in the glove box. This key stops the little red light on the steering column when used. The little red light just flashes continuously, so it does not come on steady when the infra red key goes in the ignition or when you open the car using it. And I have never seen it go out except when I operate the key switch in the glovebox.

There is no indicators flashing when you lock the car with the remote to say it has been alarmed.

The car just WILL NOT START no matter how long you turn it over.

The car STARTS IMMEDIATELY when you drop a bit of petrol down into the throttle body,past the injector.

When I switch the ignition on I don't hear any fuel pump action and I have removed the carpet and rubber cover to access it in the boot.

HELP ME DECIDE

Is the immobiliser cutting the fuel supply?

Is there a fuel supply problem independent from the immobiliser.

All fuses are intact. There is power to all relevant fuses with the ignition on. Except for the 30amp one in a plastic box on the front o/s wing. There is a relay in this box which I have tested and works. This box also has the same two coloured wires coming out of it as does the key operated switch in the glovebox.

Any help and guidance in this would be brilliant.

Hi hello could any one help just tonight bought a Renault scenic 2004 1.9 decision on way home automatic wiper stayed on then dash light up with saying doors are all open and showed both indicators where on the lots of faults came up then car just put the breaks on then they went off again after fiddling with the buttern then drove about 2 miles the whole dash went dead nothing at all AA came had no idea looked but could not find an answer so just been on a flat bed to my house sick as a pig and have no idea where to go from here when I got home when tipping the car off dash light up again is it a faulty wire help please help Neil oh but still stayed on even when I locked the car up crazy and now broke AA £170 10 miles from home tired and sick what's the Mrs going to say ha ha

Help - have replaced battery in key card, but display not reset

Good evening we are virgin Renault owners and picked up out 04 Megane Expression Auto only yesterday.

The display indicated the card battery required replacing, which was kindly done by the dealer for us. The fob behaves as it should (no complaints there) but can't reset the display for love nor money!

I have browsed this forum and have attempted:

1. Replacing battery and pressing unlock 4 times
2. Replacing battery and locking then unlocking car 5 times
3. Put card in slot and pressing start 10 times without brake

Plus some other suggestions which have now dribbled out of my brain through my ears... I know it's not imperative to clear this message, but it's really irritating so please help. :confused:

Megane coupe poor handling

Hi everyone.
My 02 megane has recently started to handle strangely. When I go round a right hand bend, it feels as if the back end is "tucking under" the car, almost as if the back is steering. Over rough ground, the back tries to break away completely. The tyres were worn, so I replaced all 4 but it made no difference at all. I have recently had a track rod end changed but don't know if this is related.
Hope someone can help.

Right, I'm struggling to find out how much oil the CVT transmission holds on my Scenic (it's a 2010 2L petrol)!

I've scoured the internet high and low and so far found nothing

A call to two different dealers got me two completely different answers! (One said 4 litres and the other 8)

Being it's not cheap stuff, I was hoping for a more definitive answer.

Anyone have any idea!

I'm guessing it might be the same unit as used in the Quasqai and Juke but there must be some renault tech info on this transmission!

I have a 2010 Scenic Privilege TomTom 2.0 auto petrol which starts fine all Sumer but when Autumn/winter arrives it plays up. Sometimes it fires and stops and then takes a lot of attempts before finally starting and sometimes it wil start and run ok but refuses to rev for 5-10 seconds then suddenly will go ok. Once started it runs absolutely fine all day. Autumn is now here and the problem has just returned. Any ideas please?

2000 2.2 DCi small coolant leak

For the last few weeks I had to top up coolant by about 1 litre after a day's driving. I searched high and low looking for a leak without luck and was worried it was a cylinder head problem. Just by luck whilst prodding around with the water hoses I noticed a dribble of coolant.
There is a coolant sensor on top of the thermostat housing held in place by a plastic circlip, after removing it I found the little rubber seal was causing the leak, £3.90 inc VAT from the dealer and problem solved.

Just thought I would share this incase it happens to anyone else.

Anyone with a scenic 3 noticed a small dot on the very top of the rev counter display on tickover.
It moves with the increase in revs about 2000 more that the needle.

I have found that the ABS fuse is missing on my Renault kangoo van, i did not think the van had ABS until i was asked by the motor factor when i was getting disks and pads and then found the light on the dash. The ABS light has never come on.

What fuse should be there and should i replace it?

Please HELP!!! I have a megane 2 1.5dci 2006
ABS light was on, had it read and was coming up nsf bearing and osf sensor.

Replaced both hubs and abs sensors light went off. However the speedo fluctuates between approx 15mph and 8 mph when accelerating even when you are going about 30mph still same. The break pedal goes very hard struggles to stop. press hard on pedal and it makes a banging noise and pulsates bad on the pedal then finally stops.

Unplug a sensor and abs light comes on but speedo and breaking is perfect. Plug it back in light goes off but still same problem.

Took it to a garage had everything read on the computer and even tested the sensors, abs pump etc all working perfectly. The only code on the machine was DF017 electrical fault.

Ive tried almost everything and am at my wits end.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I am quite excited about it. It's a 5speed manual, 2 litre, with only 120,000 kms. My normal every day drive car is a Honda Odyssey station wagon, so I am looking forward to driving a smaller nini.

I have Megane Sedan 1.5 dci 86 hp. Lately, I gave it to a friend for annual maintenance to clean EGR valve, the throttle, changing the oil and coolant, filters and so on.

The car seems fine after the maintenance however, the temperature gauge was coming right into the middle before the changes and now, after the maintenance, after it gets warm, it is not coming sharp to the middle but a little to the left, it is a very small discrepancy but still stuck in my mind. Do you have any idea what it might be, thermostat works fine and as I did not have any problem before the maintenance, can be related one of the changes that I have mentioned?

For a while now my car has been throwing up an error for throttle (can't remember the exact code). so i went to the scrap yard in search of one, i managed to 'acquire' one from a 1.9 DCI. Does anybody know if the throttle pedal/sender from a 1.9 DCI work in the 2.0 DCI ?

Hi all. I have a megavan 1.9 diesel (non turbo) which when I start goes into some sort if a limp mode. The engine sits a 1000rpm with no response from the accelerator. I have to turn it off wait a couple of seconds and restart for it to go back to normal. This happens every time the engine has been turned off for any period of time.
I managed to get some codes from the ecu, I hope these will help.
Df066. Feul flow actuator position. Memorised fault.
Df061.Preheated plugs circuit.
There doesn't seem to be any other issues with the van apart from the above problem.

Hi I have slight problem with my clio because I would like to fit bit bigger tyres and rims that ware stock and this is where my problem comes in to play I fit 195/55/16 at the rear but they won't fit at front as front suspension takes lot of space...
and I'm planning on lowering the car on 40mm lowering springs
so what size of spacers should I get in order to fit those wheels? or should I go back to 185, 15 inch wheels?

Scenic 1.5dci head gasket fail ?

Started car and set off down to supermarket, BEEP BEEP "engine overheating " Cold air from heater matrix.
Pulled aside where safe and checked engine all looked ok, Matrix feed pipe hot and return line was cold, so I bled it and everything was fine for a few days.
A few days later same again.
I thought maybe thermostat or leak somewhere so decided to investigate.
First a sniff test, Liquid stayed BLUE.
No pics (Server timeout waiting for the HTTP request from the client)
Pressure tested to 15psi no drop in pressure.
Thermostat changed and again same happens.
Heater matrix changed and again the same.
Getting frustrated so I changed water pump with Renault genuine pump. Still the same.
I can only guess that the head gasket is pressurizing the water system but not showing during pressure test or sniff tests.
Called at three different garages and all quoting silly prices to replace head gasket, I'm unable to do this myself due to having no garage and parked on the roadside.
I'm going to try another garage tomorrow and if they want silly money it's off to be scrapped.
Anyone know of anyone in West Yorks able to help me out please ?

Scenic II 2008 2.0 Petrol - starts on low revs and halts, unless I kick in fuel

Hey guys, forgive me for bizarre English mistakes or the absolute lack of technical jargon. I'm from Israel and while I can speak English I've never talked about cars in English so plz bear with me ;)

Me and wife are super happy with my 2005 scenic so a week ago we bought wife a 2008 scenic with a 2 litre engine (both are Petrol and Automatic, like 99% cars in Israel).

Long story short, the seller told me I have to give some gas when I start the car and since my wife fails at doing so we've switched cars until I get that messy thing fixed.

What happens is the engine starts at low revs (~600) and quickly drops until it halts, unless I give some gas (i.e. press the gas pedal) and then it stabilizes on 700-800 revs where car shakes a bit but feels pretty working and doesn't stop.
If the car has been halted, the next start will begin with a few good seconds of cranking and then it would start and again quickly drop revs to halt unless I give some gas.
Once the car starts and stabilizes, it never stops, not in junctions or lights or anything - and it drives pretty smoothly.

There are no service lights and running torque on a bluetooth OBD reader says there are no faults.

I'm just getting into mechanic DYI jobs - got Haynes manual for the 2005 scenic (1.6 petrol) and replaced air filter, coils (had a faulty one) and oil filter. I got motivation and lots of good will taking things apart and hoping to get 'em back into place.

any help on identifying (and fixing) this issue will be super appreciated, especially by my wife who is dying to drive the car but fears she won't get it started.

2007 Espace - Radio/Sat nav doesn't turn off with the ignition

Hi,

When I got to work this morning I turned the ignition off as normal, but noticed that the radio and sat nav didn't turn off.

I think that the radio normally stayed on until I opened the door?

When I lock the key with the keycard the radio/satnav goes off.

It all re-starts normally when I start the car.

Has anyone experienced this problem before?

Any suggestions where I should start fault finding?

Removing passenger seat

Hi all,

I need to transport a fairly large fridge freezer on Friday in my 2002 1.2 16v Clio Expression (MK2) . I've measured it and it will fit, but only if the front passenger seat is removed (and back seats of course, but that is easy!).

My question is - is it safe to just remove the front seat with the 4 under-car bolts, disconnect the airbag/pre-tensioner connections under the seat and remove? Will it risk the airbag deploying when I start the engine with the seat out? Alternatively, is it possible to just remove the backrest and leave the seat in place?

I've seen quite a few posts suggesting disconnecting the battery when changing seats, but they assume the seat will be reconnected when the engine restarts.

Megane 2005 oasis, power loss when driving

The car starts and ticks over okay and runs well for about 10 minutes and then at any speed the power stops for a few seconds and then picks back up and accelerates away. The engine is running throughout the problem. We have had a diagnostic test and there is no faults given. We have had the fuel pump replaced in the tank and there is a relatively new battery on the car. Can anyone help?

Clio MK3 bouncing when idle?

Hi

I posted in another thread of mine about this but thought I'd better make a thread just for this issue I'm having.

Basically getting a bobbing sensation when car idle at lights etc. It's sort of like the feeling if a lorry goes past or if someone in the car is fidgeting in their seat. It's not really bad but sort of random and the rpm needle appears to be steady.

I asked a local garage but he wasn't sure so kind of left it. I emailed another garage I've used before and they replied today saying sounds like it could be a misfire.

Yesterday I had a quick look and not managed to do much besides tighten some screws on jubilee clips holding pipes coming from the air filter. They weren't all that tight so I tightened them just in case air leak cult had been possible.

I've recently had new spark plugs in so hoping they're fine. I've also put in some Millers Eco Max fuel system cleaner to help give it a clean out so wondered if it could be occurring as part of a clean up?! My other halfs car had some in as it was a bit sluggish but it's recently developed a new lease of life and pulls loads better now.

Anyway I'm just trying to decide if such issue could be something which could work its way out the system? I've only had it a few month or so and no idea how the previous owner drove it - I suspect not much. It's overall excellent condition no other major issues and it's possibly just a minor niggle than anything. I just wanted to ask in case anyone here knew what it could be.
There's not much on the Internet and it's usually about unsteady idle whereas mine appears to be ok. Anything I have read of such things have said the issue went away - strangest comment I read said someone did a doughnut (why?!?!) and oddly after that the issue had gone!? Weird

Any thoughts on this please?!

Immobilization and central locking problem

Hello everyone, new and have searched before posting
Have a 98 Megane (very tidy) but keep having a problem with Immobiliser, car locks unlocks OK but sometimes it seems to be out of synchronization as turning the key (within 30 seconds) results in nothing at all, yesterday missed a wedding as it just would not reset, eventually left it overnight and this morning starts fine.... Losing confidence and appreciate any suggestions to remedy the fault

Clio 1.2 2004 brake then steering pulls to left

So I had new brake pads put in around a month ago. about 2 weeks ago the steering got very light/loose especially around full lock position. it also feels like im having to do more steering wheel rotating to get too full lock left or right position (could be my imagination from the loose steering). Yesterday i curbed the clio in a carpark while parking relatively slow.

Today after 40 miles driving the car steering will veer left when light braking and when letting off the brake with slight realignment on the road the car steering can feel slightly uncontrollable for a moment enough to give a fright.

Mechanic did say while replacing the pads he noticed a damaged metal ring which he replaced (something abs related i believe)(he reckoned the mechanic who had previously replaced a rubber boot caused this)

Any ideas on my problem (car is parked up untill fixed)

I have been looking into getting a WiFi or Bluetooth OBD reader for my 2009 Laguna Coupe GT (2.0 Litre Turbo Petrol) :cool:
Can anyone suggest a good but non expensive reader that's suitable for this car?

I know the port is under the tray in the arm rest, I have access to an Android tablet, Windows 8.1 Phone, and Windows Laptop for connectivity. I would prefer the unit to be wireless.

I know there are a lot of readers on the market that are compatible with most model cars, I'm only looking because I'm curious about diagnostic readings etc, and do not have any known faults that specifically need detecting.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have seen loads on eBay and Amazon, but am unclear which would be best suited for my car. :confused:

The passenger side headlights suffers from condensation has anyone else had this and managed to sort the problem?? I have a 4 year renault warranty should this problem be covered under that?

Hi and thank you for letting me join the forum. I have an 07 Grand Scenic 1.5 dci which is a fantastic car which I thoroughly enjoy and have owned for 2 months. My side light bulb has blown and the parts chap and the manual says that it should be a w5w but mine appears to be a bayonet fit and not a slide fit. What bulb do I need then? Many thanks. Pete

large oil loss

just bought a renault espace 2.2dci today 2002 the race model. i bought it with a problem with smoking under idle, normal and heavy accelleration. i stopped for coffee on the way home and when i got back to the car there was a large puddle of oil under the car, so have had to tow it home, not had a chance to get a look under it but just wondering of any suggestions of what it could be

I have just aquired a 2007 Renault Scenic and I am puzzled as to store the spare wheel.
When I look under the car there is no cage to stow the tyre.
Just a large empty space.
I can see 3 relatively small diameter studs in the centre, but no nuts.
Is this where the wheel is suspended and how?

hi the turbo and clutch on my 2004 1.9 espace are starting to go and I found another espace the same age and engine as mine local for £200 with a rattley engine but it had a new clutch and flywheel and a new turbo just 2 months ago so I am planning to remove them from the car tomorrow, when I was looking at reviews before I brought my espace I remember someone saying the clutches are really hard to change as there is some bolts behind the dashboard that need to be removed

has anyone removed a gearbox from a 1.9 espace that can give me any pointers, any advice on removing the turbo would also be appreciated

Can you Install DAB Radio to Espace MK3?

Hi,

I have been doing lots of searching about on how to add an after market DAB radio to my car.

Its a Renault Espace Mk3, I am fed up of the constant whining and buzzing from the radio especially on MW/AM/LW and really don't wanna spend time messing about with my plugs and suppressors ect as I have spent well over 650 quid on my car since Jan and want to leave it alone best i can now while its working....in a fashion....

All I would like to know is, is there a way to connect the DAB radio with a cable to the cars radio unit under the drivers seat, so i can have the pleasure of the radio coming through my cars speakers and not the DAB unit itself?

The DAB unit i Have is a pure highway, the user manual says I can connect a lead from the OUT socket to my cars radio, but with the Espace's unit being hidden away i was wondering if could be done? With extra length cable of course.

Hi noobie here needing help lol,ive got a 2002 kangoo 1.9d with lucas pump,belt snapped so replaced cyl head,put timing pin in block,crank mark lined up about 7 o clock,cam pulley had little circle thats at 12 o clock presume its mark but the pump had no keyway so presume its tdc so set no 1 inj/pump to spill,turned over twice by hand marks all line to pin,is there a simpler way to set lucas pump i believe theres a method to screw/turn pump so pulley locks? If anyone can help

Loud squealing noise when starting

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help advise with this please.
About a year ago I noticed a squealing noise after I started the car which I instinctively just thought 'fan belt' so had that and the timing belt and tensioners (was due) replaced around February. Prior to replacing the alternator belt the garage tried spraying some lubricant of sorts on to quieten it.
In the last month or two it's started squealing loudly again, the noise goes away after about 10 seconds. It's mainly when the car starts from cold in the morning but has done it at times when just starting it during the day even after driving it around shortly before.
It does have a starting issue (different thread) where the coil light comes on and stays on and makes it take two attempts to start it pretty much every time. I assume this has some added drain on the battery meaning that the alternator is automatically adjusting for the extra charge needed for the battery.
Then someone suggests it could be the water pump. I'm now unsure what it's likely to be as I always assume the noise is fan belt...
Someone also suggested a spray you can use on fan belts to prevent slipping?
The battery might not be in peak condition either, it went flat through over use of the fans in the car when the engine wans't running last year but this is probably to be expected.

Any help or thoughts much appreciated :)

...hi all, following the scrappage of my 267k Laguna2 last year, I've been running around in a Polo, that it, until buying a Laguna2 GT Sporttourer last week.

bought at the low end of the market, it is not without fault and work to be done, so plenty of feedback for the forums on the way - but it feels good to be driving a Laguna again.

how on earth do so many people miss the great and comfortable experiences these well equipped cars offer?!

AA had to reset the battery???.

Evening all.

I've just got home after calling out the AA. :moonie:

I left work and got to my beloved wind to find the doors unlocked and the electronic boot not opening.

Strange I thought, but never mind.

I then got in and tried to start the car with the key.

Nothing........not even lights on the dashboard

Oh

I better call the AA.

Luckily they turned up within 15 minutes (thank you Mr AA) and set to work.

He tested the battery and he said that was 100%.

He then hooked up his little computer and it showed no faults.

He then disconnected the battery and reconnected it again and voilà, it fired up.

He said it might have been caused by a neighbouring keyfob triggering something.

BUT, as this has now been logged on their system I could not call them out again for it.

Has anyone got any ideas as I'm now scared I might get stranded somewhere

Ignition barrel question

I have a Renault scenic.
The ignition barrel is broken in that the key won't spring back when I turn the engine on and the starter motor keeps turning.
If I turn the key back manually everything seems to be working ok.
Do I need to get this fixed? Is it damaging the engine? I don't want to have to pay £200 if I don't need to.

2004 Renault Clio MK2 AirBag Light and service light staying on.

I recently had an accident in my clio and the driver seat airbag was deployed. When I bought a new seat I was told I would also need a new airbag sensor so I got one from one of his 3 doors (mine's a 5 door so I don't know if they're different at all). Since I installed the airbag sensor, the service and airbag light have stayed on although everything seems to be fit perfectly. Thanks in advance.

hi all i just purchased my 2.0l ide megane and it keeps cutting out error code p0403 egr circuit flow malfunction only Renault say there is know egr but the electronic thing at the back of the engine at the top in the middle has a steel pipe wich connects to the manifold seems to be the problem because when you disconect it the engine managment light goes off any help as to what it's called? Indicators and window switch

Hi. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction here. I've got a megane 2 and the front offside indicator just stopped working. Today I removed the whole bumper assembly just to change the bulb as it was impossible to remove it and the bulb holder. When reassembled and bumper was back on, everything worked perfectly.

After about 5 minutes driving when the car was warmed up to temperature, the indicator just stopped working. This happened before as first it works intermittently and then just stops. The other thing I noticed as well is that the window switch cluster on the drivers door gets excessively hot to touch. Surely this isn't normal. Is this switch cluster somehow linked to the indicators and causing the indicator to malfunction.

This car has given us no end of trouble with indicators. I had disco lights in the past and narrowed this down to the tail light bulb holders. On both sides, there was evidence of melting in the bulb holder which resulted with the connectors not touching so I've managed to fix this problem. Every month or so I need to go clean everything out. My stepsons megane 2 also has this problem. We can't even buy new bulbholders over her in S Africa - Renault will only sell the complete tail light assemble.

If anyone has any ideas where I should look next your input would be greatly appreciated.

Bypassing relays?

My PH2 Clio has broken down for the fifth time this month always with the same clicking / sizzling relay under the bonnet. The fan works as does the starter but the OIL, STOP and Immobiliser light all stay solid. I've replaced the relay loads of times, swapped them all round and used contact cleaner but still the problem persists.

Is there a way to bypass this relay so it gets power directly as soon as the ignition is on? I noticed that there's one thick red cable with a smaller one looping back on itself, a thick grey cable and a thin white cable which I believe is for the ECU/Immobiliser. Hell, I don't even care if someone can jump in it and start it with the handle of a teaspoon, I just want it to work.

In the mean time does anyone know a way I can give it a VERY good clean? I've sprayed contact cleaner right in there using the straw, I've used a long bristled soft tooth brush, I long bristled stiffer tooth brush but still the problem persists. I'm also toying with the idea of cutting all the cables, splicing them onto another board from a newer car and then hoping the problem disappears.

I'm certain it's the relays as if I play about with them for a good 3-4 hours it will eventually start working again.

Clio mk3 2007 unusual engine sound when engine turned off?

When I got the car a few months or so ago now, I noticed an unusual sound only when I had turned the engine off after being out in the car - I can only describe it as a sort of powering down sound which was done twice, one after the other - a sort of electrical sound which sounded like it was from the front end of the car. I haven't always had these sounds and can't figure out why it does it and sometimes not - I first wondered if it depended on how long i'd been out in the car and how warmed up it as but I can't say for sure this affects it. I wondered if it's the type of engine and valves? It's most strange. It's a nice sound if that sounds a silly thing to say! I've not heard it past few times i've been out in the car so wondered why and what it might be?! Sorry to be vague but I can't really describe it more. I guess each noise is about a few seconds long each. Maybe other people's cars do this?

No ignition lights after engine rebuild

Hi all, I'm in need of some advice, I bought a grand scenic 1.9 dci 2005 on the cheap as the engine had failed, crank had grabbed a shell. So stripped it all out rebuilt the engine f9q 812, refitted, fitted the battery and went to start but no ignition lights, just immobiliser blinking at me. I have checked all the wiring to make sure there is nothing missing, crimped or shorted and all appears ok. The radio, fan, Windows work but not start. The card locks and unlocks the car but still nothing on the dash, under advice I bought a new steering lock module but this has not worked, any help would be greatly appreciated. A quite mention, the battery was disconnected for 3 weeks while I worked on the car and today I went to try again and got dash lights telling me to press clutch or brake to start, but nothing happened, the doors were shown as all open which they were not. The message stayed on the dash regardless of whether the key was in ignition or not, locked or unlocked. I disconnected the battery, reconnected and I'm back to blank dash.

Hi all.

I have a Renault Scenic DCI 54 plate.

My air con only works on setting 1 and 2, not on setting 3 or 4..

and also 2 of the 4 windows doesn't work, tried changing the fuse. It was 3 of 4 but one has come back alive although I darn't use it.

Anyway care to guess how much a garage would charge to fix this... I think first i will do the air con, can live without windows opening if air con is sorted and charged.

Who regrets buying a Renault?

Basically im on my third Renault and every one of them has had faults and the only reason I stay with them is because im stuck in a finance agreement with RCI, im sick of the loop im in at the moment and im trying to reject the car after about 15 months of ownership. So fingers crossed.

All bought from new

1. Renault Twingo - fault, car failing to start at random times. Renault customer services fix was to carry a spanner with me to disconnect the battery to allow system to reset. Waiting on software update

2. Renault Megane - fault, allowed my partner to drive 40 miles away without the keyfob. as she left it in the house. She also stalled the car a couple of times and it allowed her restart without the key. Renault customer service fix... no answer

3. Current car Renault Clio diesel - fault, medianav playing music via bluetooth, music skips like a scratched cd. Renault customer service fix, buy a cable even though this will impact on the drive of the car as the usb slot is near the steering wheel and gearstick. I'm sure this was sold with Will I am on their advert promoting playing music this way!!! They are awaiting a software update. Another issue is with the headlights on numerous occassions on engine start up the lights stay on despite the position of the lights stalk, full beam, fog lights do not work. Again waiting on a software update. Renault customer service fix, keep restarting engine until it resets.

I just think a massive company like this could resolve this issues, they just seem to want to drain the consumer.

Be interesting to hear other peoples views.

Hello, my UCH has had recurring problems on my Renault Clio 2004 Dynamique (16v). This time the right indicator is stuck on and the back rear wiper doesn't turn off.

I have had to pay to have this taken out before and it only took the guy 10 minutes or so.

Could anyone give me any idea on how to remove this myself (dummies version) or is this a little to technical?

I have had a problem with my ac compressor making gritty noises when engaged, and in the process of trying to find out what's wrong firstly my local garage told me: nothing wrong, but the cold air isn't getting into the cabin. Well I insisted that there is a noise coming from engine when ac is engaged. They looked again and this time concluded its the alternator freewheel or what that's called. Turns out that's a part i changed a couple years ago and still under warranty. The garage that originally changed the alternator took it in looked at it and said nothings wrong with the freewheel. They still did it under warranty but they also in the process found slack and noise coming from the belt tensioner.they also could confirm noise coming from ac Compressor when engaged. So.... Back to start plus one more problem.

My question is: is it easy to replace the belt tensioner myself? I have identified it. It looks like this.

Also about the ac compressor. This more of a job I guess? Is it worth trying to replace it with a second hand one ?
It's worth mentioning that when filled with gas the compressor doesn't make so much noise...but the gas runs out after 6 months and the compressor gets more and more noisy.

Hi guys can anyone help with this one please. wife was using my car yesterday morning when she got stuck in traffic, when the traffic started to move she couldn't get the car into gear so she turned off the engine and restarted it, the car then went into gear as normal with no further problems nor did she have any problems on her way home last night. This morning the car again refused to go into gear when she tried to go to work, has she got a lift to work I'm assuming that stopping and starting the car didn't work this time. Up to this point the car has been fine no gear box noise or strange engine noise and no clutch slip what so ever, very strange. The car is an 06 plate 1.4di scenic with a 6 speed box. could someone advise me if it hydraulic or cable clutch on this model and does the engine have to come out for a clutch replacement. Any help most appreciated.

Default display on On Board Computer

Hi,

I have a Renault Scenic Grande 2011 and I've got a niggly issue with the on board computer display.

Since I bought the car, it has displayed by default the total and current trip mileage when you start the car. You can step through the different displays using the buttons on the end of the stick.

However, in the past week, the display always shows trip fuel used (e.g. 0.2 Gallons). This is relatively useless.

Does anyone know how to alter this functionality either back to the default or to something else (range might be quite useful)

Off to garage last ditch - oil loss & excessive crankcase pressure

Renault Espace 1.9 dci 53 plate 137,000 miles.

My car is using about 1L of oil on a 50 mile trip at motorway speeds, it looses a lot less when travelling same mileage town driving doing short trips.

I put it on ramps and underneath is covered in oil so much its hard to say where its from, but I would say its in general turbo area. The passenger side is clear but there is a pipe that feeds off to three pipes (think its a crank case breather pipe) that is wet but not excessive but the surrounding area is clean.

I also have excessive crankcase pressure that blows out the oil filler cap when you remove it and it also come out of the bottle when you take breather pipe off that attaches to air intake after MAF. I also have oil leaking at the throttle body.

The garage had a quick look yesterday, and said my turbo was pressurising under revving but he felt it was weak (by squeezing the rubber hose)

I am taking it in on Tuesday for him to spend no more that two hours looking over the car to see where oil is coming from.

As I have oil at the throttle body that leans towards a blown turbo, would that also spray oil out of the turbo onto the engine under car and explain my oil loss?

My car does not generally smoke out of the exhaust, but it has on occasions at 70mph with a cloud of smoke.

He said he could take turbo out clean pipes and intercooler and change the cartridge in the turbo for £250

Is the excessive crankcase pressure problem due to the turbo failure, boost leak into oil lines and into sump? or is the failure of the turbo and leak due to the excessive crankcase pressure?

Am I better asking him to spend time looking at the turbo for the leakage or spend the time looking at the crankcase ventilation / pcv system and maybe do a compression test to eliminate the piston rings causing the excessive crankcase pressure and oil leak, as if it is the rings then bye bye car!

2014 Renault Clio Headlight Issue

Hi,

Over the last few months I've noticed a problem on engine start up, my side lights come on and theres no way of turning them off. My fog lights, front and back dont operate and i cant use my full beam. Regardless of which position the light controls are in.

A garage has looked at the car and the master technician explained its a known fault and we simply have to restart the car a few times until it resets.

I dont think this is good enough and could potentially cause an accident if failed on a motorway for example.

Will be interesting hearing others thoughts.
