All,
Have just bought a Modus DCi with the QS5 gearbox, having previously driven a manual.
It's taking a bit of getting used to so I wondered if any QS5 owners had tips for getting the best out of it.
When pulling away in 1st, I take it that I give it some revs and then lower the handbrake, as I would in a manual?
I'm finding reverse, even on engine tick-over a bit fast. Is it OK to gently apply the brakes?
Is it better to shift the box to 'N' when sat at lights or is it OK to leave it in '1'?
Sometimes I slow down then speed off again, for example when the car in front does something unexpected. Normally, I'd drop a gear, apply the brake then stomp on the gas to speed off again in the manual. However, the QS5 will often drop down into '1' and when I stomp ion the gas to speed off again it can momentarily do a 'bunny hop', almost as if it can't decide what to do with the gas or the gears for half a second.
All is probably down to my current driving style but does anyone have any tips for the QS5? Assume zero experience of automatics previously.
