Electrics/ Instrument panel failure 2010 Clio?

Hi All,

First post on the gf's behalf.

She's got an issue with her 60 plate (2010) 1.2 (1149cc) Clio 16v Dynamique?

Basically as she words it:

Ok so basically when I was driving the following happened

-Started with the petrol red light flashing on and off

-Then the whole display screen went off, came back on. This repeated a number of times

-This basically happened for about 20 minutes while I was driving. At one point it was probably off about 30 seconds

-Didn’t seem to affect the power of the car but I was driving slowly as I was scared

-Basically all the lights on the dashboard kept going on and then off again

-Red spanner light came on and airbag light

-When I go back to the car now it seems totally fine

Last time I had a problem the power of the car seemed to cut out and the airbag and red spanner light came on. I turned the car off and then on again and it was fine.

Obviously I want to try and repair this myself, if possible, as when something similar this has happened to my previous cars it's cost megabucks. I'd like to have an idea of what's happening before going to the stealer (dealer), does anyone know a Renault specialist in Teesside or Durham?.

I've got previous qualifications with electrics and instruments but as that was on aircraft it doesn't cross over too well, without info of the system used. I have tried some of my own basic fault finding from the limited information I've been able to get out of her. Apparently the radio and clock stayed on when this happens, so doesn't sound like a complete power loss, but as I've not seen any circuit diagrams I've no idea what feeds what and where everything is located. I've checked under the bonnet for loose connections on the battery and plugs that are easily visible and for signs of chafing but all looks fine. Saying that, as I mentioned earlier, I'm not sure where the feed comes from, other than the fuse box I imagine but I wouldn't suspect that as it's an intermittent fault.

Any help would be much appreciated :)
