I have been chatting with RCS about my half leather seats recently. I was informed by them that I am the only customer that has had an issue with the sides of the seat base cracking and crumbling apart. I do know of one other on this forum who has had the same issue and said they were going to call RCS. My main argument with RCS is that the part of the seat that has deteriorated is not leather but plastic and I was enquiring as to how the car was marketed. Was the fact that not all the leather is actually leather advertised at the point of sale or in the brochure?
They are basically ignoring what I am asking and repeating that my car is 7 years outside of warrantee and not all parts can be guaranteed for that long. I have also been informed that the Scenic is a popular model due to it excellent design and build quality! I have pointed out that none of my previous cars have ever had an issue including my Saab 900 that had covered 245,000 miles and was a great deal older.
I have never asked for assistance in paying for a repair as I know my car is too old and too tired from all the troublesome miles it has covered but they keep reminding me that they cannot help me.
They have got me interested now though to find out if anyone else has the same issue or am I really alone. RCS happily told me that forums are a bad place to get information as you only hear about problems and not the thousands of satisfied customers. to that end, I would also like to know if you have half leather seats which have stood the test of time.
I should point out that on occasions I get bored and just try to find something to moan about. Yesterday I emailed a book publisher about a spelling mistake in a fireman Sam book I was reading to my son. I have not had a reply yet though....
